roamingstop Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Well if this is as good as your mini JCB' MOC's then it will be a great build. An adventerous winter time for you. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 hears some new pic of the steering and the drive, both the back wheels are driven i only had enough wheels to do one axle, i will need to order some more Quote
vmln8r Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Nice work Possibly switch the three 16z gears in between the diffs with 16z clutch gears and mount them on axles rather than pins? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 i can do that whats the benefit in doing that? Quote
backbone Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) i can do that whats the benefit in doing that? Less torque/power loss. Edited December 9, 2010 by backbone Quote
trekman Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I agree with VMLN8R. I can see those 16T gears working their way out under load. You would also have room for a 5L studless beam across the three 16T gears which would minimise jumping teeth. It certainly will keep you busy for the next few weeks. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) here's some new progress of the cab i have also posted a video of it driving Edited December 19, 2010 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Milan Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Nice base of the cab! It looks like the tires are a little bit small for the 22-studs wide truck cabin... Maybe you should separate the two back axles a little bit. They look too close to each other. It sounds like your motor is struggling to power the truck, or is it just me? Good luck with your truck, I like the progress so far! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 what wheels would you recomend (these were expentive to buy in white) the steering has a white clutch gear to stop it breaking the steering this is why it struggles with the steering i found the drive the best so far ,it is a very heavy so this wont help and the wheels are placed toghter like the real truck it wont look right if i spaced them out and also the gearing would not be very easy to do Quote
Milan Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I would suggest 24x43 wheels, they are perfect for 24studs wide truck, but they will fit in your 22studs wide truck, too. I use them in my wip crane. These 62.4 looks small, imo. Not steering, I was talking about the drive motors are struggling a bit, judging by the sound. Based on the picture of the real truck you provided, I think that another stud between back tires would be improvement! If you have problems with placing gears between axles, just use drivetrain concept form 8868. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) !! progress !! now you did not think is was gong to leve it black now? i hope this setup works added a engine to it i have not got it hooked up yet feel free to post comments am sure milan has somethng to say,i still hope to see his crane before i die  just jokeing truck seats Edited February 18, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Milan Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 You bought 24x43 tires? Costly... Now it looks much better. Also, you have added a little bit more space between last two axles. The cab looks very nice and smooth. I guess you are going to add some parts at the front, lights, grill, like on pictures on first page? Quote

garson Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 that last picture showing the seats, in the printout to the left that item with the turntable, what is it? Quote
shimon Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Great work! I really like the chassis, good color combination Only theres a couple of thing i dont understand...: In the steering mechanism, the part that is connected to the steering arm can get get detached if the wheel will struggle to turn(unless you glued it)... still in my opinion in order to be sure it wont happen it will be better to replace it with a mechanism that wont be detached when pulling in the rack movement direction. Secondly: i think the cabin is too high in a propertion to the body, according the video.. Looking forward to the finished Truck Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 that last picture showing the seats, in the printout to the left that item with the turntable, what is it? thats blue shiny apples way of haveing more than two powered axles going though a turn table, Great work! shimon Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 What i ment is theese: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32013 that holds your steering arm.. if you try holding the wheel and run the steering you will se how this part slowly detaches from the axle (according to the 2nd pic) Quote
