Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 10, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 10, 2010 The best LEGO ships ever (minifig illusion scale) The goal is to make a top of the best LEGO sailing ships ever build. We will only focus on "minifig illusion scale" sailing ships (just so we are comparing apples to apples). "Minifig illusion scale" means a ship that's build on existing LEGO hull pieces (or with a brick build hull of similar scale). For example, this is a minifig illusion scale ship, while this is not. Next to the scale requirement the ship should have at least one sail on it. We'll do this in 2 steps: Step 1 (nominating): In this thread everyone can make one post (one only!) and include a list of your favorite ships. You can always go back to your post and add additional ships to it. Don't be shy to include your own ships in your nomination list. I would actually encourage you to include your own ships if you think they are a good candidate for getting into this top 20. If a ship is already nominated by someone there's no need to nominate it again (once nominated the ship will be in the voting thread anyway). For inspiration you can have a look at our ship index. Step 2 (voting): At a later stage we will close this nomination thread and create a big voting thread to build our top 20 of the best "minifig illusion scale" sailing ships. This nomination thread will remain open till 31st of December so everyone should have more than enough time to complete their list of ships he/she would like to nominate. Random examples of how to nominate ships: Ship name: HMS Achilles Builder name: Swab Ship description (optional): British 38 gun frigate Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19151&st=0#entry322023 Ship name: The RTS Zavala Builder name: RTN LNA Ship description (optional): Texas Navy side-paddle-wheel sailing steamship Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23844 Please use this format. Happy nominating

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 11, 2010 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks Admiral Croissant for posting such a great list! It makes my list a lot shorter as I don't have to re-nominated the ones you nominated. I'll by start adding more ships myself in this post. Before Captain Green Hair became the God of the LEGO sailing ship there was another one going by the name of Richie Dulin (Legeaux). I'll start my list with a few of his ships. Ship name: Guerre de Roue Builder name: Legeaux (Richie Dulin) Ship description (optional): Armed Sidewheeler Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9406 Ship name: Egregious Builder name: Legeaux (Richie Dulin) Ship description (optional): The Whaling Brig Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7161 Ship name: Cutter Tresfroid Builder name: Legeaux (Richie Dulin) Ship description (optional): The Whaling Brig Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5989 More will be added later...
Admiral Croissant Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 That was a real eye-opener to me! I'd never heard of him, but his ships are very nice, especially the steamship. The whaler is also great, with a very ingenious whaleboat made by glueing 2 half boat fronts together And I had to laugh about his 'group': I'm new Seriously, he should start making ship MOC's again!
Captain Green Hair Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Can't think of any ships to add at the moment, I think we can get a top 10 out of this. I wouldn't consider my Denise to be minifig illusion scale, as it would dwarf all other ships.
Derfel Cadarn Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I think thats a great list! CGH and Bonaparte's ships instantly come to mind as well as the other that Admiral Croissant has mentioned. But I would also add Slyowls ship which was pretty awesome and a rather liked Maydayartist's pirate ship if you remember that one?
