Ye Olde Pirate Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Hello Everyone, I made this for the Colossal Castle Contest 8 over on Classic Castle: Earl Walter of Evesham decided to build a watchtower on the edge of his dominions to keep an eye on his hostile neighbor, the Baron John of Wortham, and the various bands of outlaws in the forest. Earl Walter has hired the help of the local villagers, and is visiting the building site today. Link for more pics: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/235097 Please leave me some feedback! God Bless. MCNwakeboard Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 It is looking good so far and I know you are working with a limited space. I would consider improving the road to give it more of a cobblestone effect and perhaps making it less straight. You might want to have the tower further along in the process so it is easier to tell what they are building, maybe a couple bricks higher with an empty archway for the door. I do like what appears to be a mason mortering the stones. You could also add a wood/stone/dirt floor to the foundation to get ride of the grass floor look. Good Luck! Quote

The reason why the road is straight is because this was originally going to be a "Roman" build. I was thinking in the terms of straight "Roman" roads. I guess in the Middle Ages people lost the ability to keep their roads straight! Thanks for the suggestions! Quote
BrickArtist Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I actually kinda like the straight road, yet it good use some light gray bricks on either side.THat might give the straightness a more explained look if you know what i mean. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Nice scene you have there Ye Olde Pirate, though a bit more detail on the road and some dark stone grey would help diversify the building of the watch tower. Good luck in the contest! Quote
