[KEY TOPIC] Official Lego sets made in LDraw

Recommended Posts

Thanks a lot for the advice!

I struggle with the colours, being fairly colour blind, and usually have to get the kids to help me sort bricks out :D

Yes, just couldn't get MLCad to align that light grey bit even with the "fine" setting ..... I'll check out LDcad though and try that.

Will make the corrections tomorrow, thanks!

For the colors, you can also check with Brickset’s or BrickLink’s inventories (and a conversion table for the names  ).

And be reassured, not being color-blind doesn’t help with the awful colors of LEGO’s instructions (especially their PDFs  ).

Yes, indeed. Using an inventory (I personally like Rebrickable) solves 99% of the color problems (although not sure when color blind...). Rebrickable also has a nice conversion table.

But, the set in this case wasn't inventoried everywhere

Yea, that's true. Although, it seems to have improved lately. A few years ago it was extremely awful.

For some reason though, their old instructions (somewhere around pre 2000 or something like that) are in extremely high quality, they're mostly even vector images instead of raster images

Ok, corrected the colours, and does look better to my eyes.

I just can't get the bar and pin lined up though, not matter how much I fiddle:

EDIT: GOT IT!!

All had to do was move it back slightly on the bar, and it then allowed it to centralise.

The physical model itself actually doesn't work so good with the pin that way around - it is loose on the bar.

Turn it around, and the tighter end of the pin grabs the end of the bar and stays in place.

10251 - Brick Bank - Advanced Models/Modular Buildings

10251%20-%20Brick%20Bank.png

Errors:

  • All torso prints are unavailable
  • Most other prints are also unavailable. I believe only the money and clock prints are available.
  • Most of the hair pieces and the elf key are very unofficial parts. They are a raw export from LDD. They are included in the mpd file.

Download here.

I added it there. Every time I forgot to add it also there.

Random notes...
- Max's work on an old model (http://forums.ldraw.org/thread-21839.html) made me want to try an old studded Technic set. What better one than this model - with a pneumatic state machine!
- Old building instructions were definitely not for the faint hearted - only 24 pages for this model! The average quality of the scan doesn't help...
- Pneumatic tubing remains tedious...
- Some angles in the skip are only (close) approximations - I think it actually relies on part flexibility.
