Zeya Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hi, New member here. Nice to meet you all. Just FYI, I discovered this site from this link on a lego wiki (it seems to have links to local clubs and such, you might want to take a look): http://wiki-brick-links.wikispaces.com/Communities_lego_links I started looking for an unofficial forums site, and I guess it seems this is the busiest. I don't live in Europe though; I live in the U.S. I hope that's okay. Also I'm 28. I hope that's okay too, lol. Anyway I tried posting on the official lego forums. I tried starting a new topic, but it got rejected! Took them like 4 days to reject it too. So I don't think I'll be going back there. I guess they rejected my post because it was kind of miscategorized. I was showing an interest in these winter lego sets, but I posted it in the city area of their forums. I guess they have the official forums geared toward happy friendliness and maybe not more of my...how to put this...boring adult collector-ish sensibilities? Anyway here was what I posted there. Maybe someone here can comment. Thanks. ----- ORIGINAL POST ------- Hi, I found this set: Winter Village Bakery http://shop.LEGO.com/Product/?p=10216 And then I found this one that apparently isn't sold anymore Winter Toy Shop http://shop.LEGO.com/Product/?p=10199 I'm wondering if anyone can tell me: - Are there any other sets like this? - Do they have new ones when it gets closer to Christmas/New Years? Sorry, I know these ones aren't REALLY part of the City themed sets, but I didn't see a seasonal section. Quote
DLuders Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Every time I have asked a question via Lego Customer Service's e-mail service, I don't get an answer for 2-3 days. If I answer a question on the Lego Technic Designers "Ask A Question" site http://technic.lego.com/en-gb/Designers/AskADesigner/Default.aspx , I NEVER get an answer. The questions haven't been updated there in 10 months (since Nov 2009). You're far better off having your question answered on Eurobricks or some other AFOL forum. Quote
fred67 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 The LEGO forums are a terrible waste of time. Half of my posts are rejected, and I've never used harsh language or said anything bad about anybody. They don't like people talking about discontinued or as-of-yet unreleased sets. It's really pointless for anybody who isn't there to just talk about how great LEGO is. To answer your questions, though, obviously the Winter Bakery will be available on Thursday (October 1). It's odd that you can't pre-order when it was listed at the same time as all the Harry Potter sets, technically released on the same day, but available for pre-order (and already shipped and people are getting them). Whatever... never know what's going on there. But your real question... the Toy Shop... the rumor mill says it will also be available again, so keep checking the website. I would also keep checking Amazon.com, as a number of people (myself included) have recently gotten the sets at MSRP (don't buy it higher than that... Amazon might have it MSRP, they might not... it keeps coming and going). But everyone keeps saying it will be re-released soon. Quote
CMP Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) The official Lego forums. So many hours spnt looking at how uneducated posts were. Trust me, this site's more reliable. So far, no, we haven't hear of any more winter sets. Edited September 29, 2010 by CallMePie Quote
Zeya Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I got the impression that they wield the censor hammer pretty heavily there. Most of the posts were along the lines of "what is your dream ___ if you could ___" or "let's pretend to be ____". It seemed a little too picture-perfect. Well whatever, I don't want to hate too much. They seem to foster a nice community for children, with the little web games and all. This site seems pretty nice, and I can tell most people are mature. I haven't read a single flame post here yet, which is refreshing, so thanks for welcoming me or at least not calling me a noob. I found this other thread about the winter bakery: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42927&st=0 fred67 mentioned the rumor mill and maybe the toy shop coming back... I'm only just getting my feet wet with legos here. I haven't been watching to see how the Lego company rotates their sets, i.e. how they discontinue production on some and introduce or re-introduce others. Although I see some available for direct purchase on lego.com from when I was a kid, such as some of the Pirate stuff. (I drool over Brickbeard's Bounty!) My girlfriend was talking about making a little Christmas village scene. I checked the sets and saw the bakery and toy shop sets. I don't see any others, and those two aren't in their own dedicated cononical "theme". I guess there's also the train set, but at that point you're talking hundreds of dollars/euros. Anyway I'm rambling, but that's where I was coming from. If anyone knows of any other snow-covered sets, let me know please. Edited September 29, 2010 by Zeya Quote
fred67 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 ... Although I see some available for direct purchase on lego.com from when I was a kid, such as some of the Pirate stuff. (I drool over Brickbeard's Bounty!) Trust me, those are all new... they may be similar to what you had, but it's not the same. My girlfriend was talking about making a little Christmas village scene. The seasonal items are normally only available for that season, and then they're gone. Yes, I said the rumor mill says the Toy Shop will be re-released, but that would be highly unusual if true. Me, I had a mini "dark ages" (you'll get accustomed to these kinds of phrases if you stick around) when the Holiday Train was released, and royally screwed myself... as I can't pay what people want now, and I have no hope it will be re-released. If you're interested in the holiday stuff, take note of the Advent Calendars... there's a new city one each year, and another from a different theme (this year is "Kingdoms," the castle line). Also... honestly, buy some white tiles or plates on Bricklink and you can "winterize" a lot of sets. Quote
GRogall Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) First, Hallo and welcome to Eurobricks! To your question... There are only two sets in the Winter Village series. First 10199 Winter Toy Shop... released last year And second 10216 Winter Village Bakery. will be released in October Both these pictures link to HR image gallery. and will be available on October First. (rerelease of the Toy Shop)!!! One of the sets that fit well with the theme but is not available any longer is 10173 Holliday Train which was released in 2006 and is very expensive. I'm sure that Lego will continue the series with a new set next year, but which set that will be is pure speculative at the moment I'm sure that Lego is headed in this direction with these sets, but without the "Elves" Picture links to HR version. I also really like these sets and am waiting for the next one with great anticipation...... Edited September 29, 2010 by grogall Quote
Fugazi Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 It's a sure thing that Winter Toy Shop is being rereleased, it's already available in the UK both from S@H and high street shops (not even an exclusive anymore!). It's probably just a matter of time before it hits US shelves. Quote
Cadder Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 AFAIK, In the Australian S@H, Winter Toy Shop has been available (all year) since it was released last Christmas. In fact, last month I bought five to stock my online shop ready for Christmas. (limit of 5 per purchase) The Winter Bakery is released on October 1. That also has a limit of 5. I'll also be buying 5 of those. Quote
Zeya Posted September 30, 2010 Author Posted September 30, 2010 Someone posted in another thread that the Toy Shop is available on the US S@H store. Thanks everyone! Quote
GRogall Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Here is a nice picture of the two of them together! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Thats a really great picture Grogall, now I am motivated to get both sets! Quote
