MOC: Dark Red Modular Love

Hey everyone! I'm still working to upload MOC's built recently that I haven't had a chance to share with the online community. This building was built as an addition to our Town layout for the 2010 display season. The building uses design cues from both the ‘Fire Brigade’ and ‘Grand Emporium’ sets and pieces are primarily from two of the ‘Fire Brigade’ sets.

I haven’t decided exactly what kind of building this is yet, but I am thinking it might end up being an apartment building or possibly some type of dance club. The interior isn't furnished right now, but I am trying to get Stacy to help me out with that before our next show.

For Brickworld 2010, the top floor featured Minifigures partying together and the second floor features Crash Test Dummies doing…well…we’re not quite sure. Either way, it's a place for the Minifigures to come and let loose.

I also made sure to make the back of the building interesting this time since it is often viewable in our layout design. I like having options with where I put this on the layout by having the back finished. I've taken to finishing all of the backs of my buildings to give me more flexibility when assembling layouts.

As I said…we brought this to Brickworld 2010 and it was part of our display for World of Lights. Here we see a picture of the building lit up using the E-Lite Standard from LifeLites. Rob Hendrix was very helpful in getting us set up with the lighting and it worked very well for Brickworld.

Oh my this is beautiful. The light's just make this MOC outstanding.

The dark red stands out brilliantly and the decoration is amazing.

Oh my, oh how I love those dark reds too! The dark red highlights really standout, the way those pieces are placed alternately with the light bleys really makes the building a visual candy. Gotta love those columns in the bottom too, I like how they were built. And the lighting? - Simply amazing. Brilliant work Sir!

This was probably my favourite Modular building at Brickworld Davey, the colours really spoke to me. It looks spectacular. As for a theme I suggest something along the lines of a decadent old society building like the Hellfire Club from the X-Men. That seems to fit quiet nicely

How on earth could I have missed this at Brickworld!? Well done on such a truly beautiful moc, and as dark red is my favorite color besides dark blue I think I can say IMHO that this even makes the Grand Emporium look shabby

Excellent building.... and yes it looks remarkably similar to an Erotik club in our local town. Down to the green lights, red lights and balcony on the corner, with glass windows on the ground floor. No I dont go there - but it is hard to miss as it is in the middle of a residential area.

No interior yet, but I am planning to do something in the next couple of months. I've been trying to decide what to do the interior as. So far the leading ideas are: Brothel, Dance Club, and a "Decadent Old Society Building".

As mentioned above, I like the "Decadent Old Society Building" idea. Especially as we transform our Town layout into more of a Harry Potter layout with hints of London. I could see this being the headquarters of the "Devious Monocle Society" that Stacy came up with. Thanks for the idea!

I have to say, when I saw the 'night' pic of your MOC on the Eurobricks homepage, I thought it was the apartment building from 'The Crow'. LOL It totally gave off that kind of vibe.

Cool MOC though. Nice job and I love the lighting. Looks great.

Hey Lisa! Glad your here and welcome to Eurobricks. This building is build using the modular building standard. Each floor rests on tiles and is only held on by 4 or so studs. This makes it very easy to lift the roof and each floor off to see the interior. You can kind of see how that works in this picture of my wife, Stacy's, Eames House MOC.

Absolutely terrific MOC! It stands out very nicely, particularly with the texture you've chosen for the sidewalk tiling.

Could I bother you to perhaps take a photo of the Lifelites installation inside? If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see how exactly you've integrated it! Thanks!
