Captain Becker Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 (edited) Hi everyone, i have been making a ship in LDD a couple of months and thinked to put it in LDD Contest if i can finish it in time.(Otherly this is only a MOC) It has inspired by Cpt. Blackmoors ship Le Fourageux,(Damn that was hard to write ) i havent count the number of the cannons but if you like you can try, i have done the most of the ship already but i would need help whit the back gallery of the ship. the bow and the back gallery arealways the hardest one to make in LDD, But now heres a pic of it, Comments are welcome and specially the constructive critic. sry if the pic is heavy, ill resize it later. if the pic wont work heres a link: Click Here Captain Becker EDIT: Is the pic better now? Captain Becker Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Hello folks, i have started all over this ship and currently i am making the sides of it, i didnt like the hulls shape very much and the deck was too long and narrow. I had also problems at making the back gallery so i decided to start all over. I shall give some pics when i have finished the sides and maked the gun decks and placed the cannons, i made the curves on the ship so i will need some help at making the new deck. Since it has the old style bow pieces in it and several MOCs made with it have shown how great it works... LDD is ok, but I think it doesn't really provide the bricks necessary for shipbuilding (even in universe mod) since they have been discontinued. You can build a brickbuild hull with it, but that is really tough work and you obviously lack the skills to bring it to perfection! However your project is a nice one in terms of size and, of course, its name, so I wish you the best of luck with it! Quote

Well, i have tryed to use MLCAD once but i had to download several files before i got it working, also my computer got laggy for that. I dont use LU mode in LDD because it crashes for me when i try to run it so i have to go whit normal LDD mode. And no, i dont try to be perfect in LDD. Anyway, thanks for reply Captain Becker Quote

I made her at the figs can stand there. There is totally 3 figs, can you find them all? There is the mains deck, lower gundeck and small Cargo holder. Overview of the main deck Here you can see the steering wheel, ships bell and the two cannons on the poop deck. There is two stairs going under the deck. The lower deck. here you can see the cannons and two doors taking to captains cabin But where is that leading? Its leading to a small cargo holder. Unfinished Captains cabin. As Phred sayed already, there is one minifig on the Captains cabin. but wheres the other two? One is on the lower deck. here you can see at the Minifig can work under the deck And the 3th one can be on cargo holder, but he has to sit so.... Feel free to say anything. Admiral Croissant Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 You made some good progress, but there is also room for improvement I would give the deck much more of a curve. It should be very narrow on the poop deck and much wider in the middle and more in the front. And I would make the side galleries smaller and maybe a little fence between the small stairs behind the helm would look good as well. These are just some small issues, the details on your ship for example(and the type of ship)are great. I really like the bell, stern chasers and croissant in the cabin I hope my critics can be of some help to you, and good luck with it. Quote

Croissant: Yes ill try to make the small fence in the back, and ill try to do the curves and everything else on my next ship. Im still trying to learn how to build ships in LDD. Phred: Well, i have made the stern now but ill need to do that again maby, i thinked to start to make the new bow tomorrow, we have a free day from studying tomorrow on friday, a whole day. So i have plenty of time to make it. And i can show some pics at the now now. And no, im not gonna do this whit real, but maby someday when i have those old small ship hulls, then maby i will make a ship like this but a bit different. Yes, im finally completed her and here she is I dint give her more guns because nobody didnt say anything when i asked twice so But you can say it yet Half cut of the ship, here you can see entire ship and the inside of it. Deck whit out masts and crew And then this Fire! Thats it, im extremly happy whit the result so.. But what you think about it any thoughts or improvments? Admiral Croissant Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I'm proud to be the captain of this ship It's really nice. The details on the deck, the height of the masts and the shape are all good. If you want to improve it, you could make the top pieces of the masts thinner and perhaps make the part between the headrails a bit smaller. It's quite big for such a small ship. A spanker sail and some jibs would also look great but maybe that's just hard to do with LDD. But it would be great if you made something like this in real some time Quote

Your stern could use a bit of improvement, the cabin is sticking out a bit much now. I suggest you either lengthen the hull a bit or make some arches to close the gap a bit. Keep it up! Quote
