I know that there's been a lot of discussion about why LEGO fans like the Wild West theme, but I'd like to revisit some of the "more fun aspects" of the theme.

Just what makes Wild West so much fun?

My runner-up choices are great minifigs, use of great parts and loving western movies. however my biggest reason would be the colours; those used in the original western theme was so varied but was very "earthy" colours with loads of browns, blacks and tans....oh goodness tan, tan is for me!

My big two is great minifigs and tan  Call the the latter ridiculous if you will.

I'd say it's because I'm a fan of Western movies.

Clint Eastwood's movies mostly, but there are others. They're very interesting films, especially the bandits against outlaw movies.

Hello there!

Admitted, I never owned any of the LEGO® western sets. But neverthelese I enjoy looking at the many great western creations very much. In my childhoos I loved western movies. It was something completely different from real-life. Wester movies promote a very special mood, and whenever I see these creations here that mood comes up again and reminds me of former days. So, I am not a western builder, but all western builders fan. :classic:

Cheers,

For me, it's the traps and functions. I'm always a sucker for them- why else would I be saving up for the Death Star? I remember absolutely loving the exploding cell wall of Sheriff's Lock Up and going crazy over the card-game trapdoor function of my older brother's Fort Legoredo.

If Lego revives the Western Theme, I hope they'll continue to add in these touches.

I loved all of the above really - the booby trap functions, the great colors, and all the fantastic new colors and peices.

Just brought an in box Indians set yesterday, (6718, Rain Dance Ridge) pretty stoked about it!

Hopefully I'll do a set review when it arrives.

That's a great and very interesting topic, TheBrickster!

I voted for

It's all about the minifigs

since for me the minifigs are always the heart of every set.

But of course it's even all about the nice small buildings with their lovely interior and the perfect styled vehicles.

Wow! What a diverse selection of reasons. It may sound a bit strange, but I've always been attracted to the wagon wheels and barrels in the theme. Some of you know that I'm also a fan of Playmobil, and it's the same reason. I love the look of the wagon wheels. They look so "western" on the wagons. The boobie traps are also pretty nice, as well as the fantastic piece collection. I think WW was my first theme with brown log bricks and green pieces (from Gold City Junction). Interesting thoughts - everyone.

On a side note, I notice that no one selected "Red Ryder BB Gun". This always reminds me of Christmas Story. I didn't own a BB gun when I was a kid, but I had a few cap guns. They were silver with white handles. The caps were in a little spool, that would pop & smoke when fired. I could taste the nostalgia now.

I loved the colors the most! Second place would be interesting parts, especially the barrels for unknown reason + the functions every set had were so damn clever and fun to play with!

My childhood was all about Western and Pirates/Islanders.
