SlyOwl Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 ...but how long will the mighty yew stand? Gallery Started off as Yggdrasil, but a lack of inspiration simplified it into an anti-hierarchical statement, which faded out as I got bored... Quote
MetroiD Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 NPU all over! I particularly enjoyed seeing yet another use for the extra wide barrels and the lettuce exo-force hair pieces. Brilliant concept too! I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of those guys "downstairs" when the mighty yew finally cracks though. Just a question - how did that knight get up there anyway!? Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 That is really cool. The lettuce trees and that little knight on horseback are my favorite touches. The more you look the more detail appears. Some of it is almost like an illusion. Excellent! Very impressive. Quote
Perterz Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The lettuce trees and that little knight on horseback are my favorite touches. Same here, I might want to add the levers to hold up the front gate aswell! I really enjoy this microscale MOCs lately, they're so creative! Looks rather fragile tho, does the castle connect to the tree or just rest on it? Great work! Quote
Milan Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 It has pretty good balance, if it just sits there! Wow, this is so nice and tidy. I like it a lot. Towers are great! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 This is quite ingenious, I really like the tree. I also love those small knights there, nice small trees as well. Was it you who stole Captain Green Hair's hair? The castle has some real nice aspects too. Is that white thing at the bottom a mill? Quote
Commander Laquiet Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Very, very neat creation. Castle is full of detail, and trees are always nice. Great work! Quote
TheMaster Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Wow that castle has an abundance of detail for being in mini scale! I like the technique you used for the tower roofs. Quote
L-space Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Very, very creative MOC In proportion the castle may look too big but I like it. Have to agree on the great microscale MOC's surfacing lately. Quote
JeffD984 Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Very cool concept! I like the smoke stacks emerging from the castle chimneys, it must be quite windy up there! Quote
Tereglith Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I think that my favorite instance of creative part using is the single brown tread for a village well. Ingenious! Quote
BlueBard Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Brillian job, as usual SlyOwl, specially with the micro world arround the roofs! And I really find this Yggdrasil's idea of yours very very interesting... Quote
Ratshot Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 (edited) Your not a MOC expert, your a MOC genius. I love it Edited October 23, 2009 by Ratshot Quote
prateek Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 (edited) Wow! That is awesome. The whole idea of a mini village around a tree is cool. I love how you did the well. What is that yellow part? Edited October 24, 2009 by prateek Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 It's amamazing what people can do in Miniscale.... Nice castle- but easy to defeat... Just put fire around! Quote
Lorentzen Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Your not a MOC expert, your a MOC genius.I love it There should definitely be a seperate tag for MOC Geniuses SlyOwl - you constantly amaze me with your talent. You come up with so many clever ideas everetime you build a new MOC. I am in awe of your skills with LEGO bricks. Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 Cheers for the replies everyone Just a question - how did that knight get up there anyway!? He came out the castle, I guess... To be honest, not much of the MOC actually makes sense when you think about it... Looks rather fragile tho, does the castle connect to the tree or just rest on it? The 3 main branches rest against the inside of the grassy overhang, so it doesn't connect, but is quite stable nonetheless. It was quite a challenge to get the castle to be equally proportioned and weighted to make it balance, though. Is that white thing at the bottom a mill? Yup! What is that yellow part? Supposed to be corn/wheat, although it's a bit out of proportion. Ideally I would have done it in tan/light flesh, but parts were lacking. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Awesome set up! I love this castle the stand is so inovative. This reminds me of a scene freom Dragonball Z, plus the original fairytail about the beanstack. This is the kind of MOC I would leave built and display. Great idea! Quote
Batbrick Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Fantastic set up here SlyOwl, love the concept and it is very...dare I say it...cute The knoight on the horse is an especially nice touch, and the whole thing has the wonderfully surreal, fantasy touch that I love. That said, I don't think some of the parts on the ground are, I could just tell the wheat field, but the pipe piece is a mystery to me. Batbrick Away! Quote
SlyOwl Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Awesome set up! I love this castle the stand is so inovative. This reminds me of a scene freom Dragonball Z, plus the original fairytail about the beanstack. Cheers! I had thought about renovating the whole thing, and doing a Jack and the Beanstalk version, but I couldn't get the stalk right (needed some Duplo creepers). Fantastic set up here SlyOwl, love the concept and it is very...dare I say it...cute The knoight on the horse is an especially nice touch, and the whole thing has the wonderfully surreal, fantasy touch that I love. That said, I don't think some of the parts on the ground are, I could just tell the wheat field, but the pipe piece is a mystery to me. Thanks Batbrick! The pipe was supposed to be a fence, but as I started out with a slightly bigger scale, it's too big for the current one... Quote
