Legostein Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Heallo dear community! It's my pleasure to unveil my latest Stargate MINI model to you here. Let me give a short motivation first. Stargate quickly became one of the most popular TV series during the last years. Although the series is more ground-based there are plenty of nice vehicles and vessels to be spotted during the more rare space scenes. Admitted, there are more space scenes in the Atlantis spin-off than in the original series which I prefer. Although Star Wars is probaly my most favorite Science Fiction series, I like many others as well. And this is my contribution to it. After the Goa'uld had been defeated a new threat came to the galaxy, namely the Ori. They are present during the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1. Their vehicles of choice are the so-called "Ori Motherships" although I usually call then "flying lavatory seat" for obvious reasons. Realizing the shape was not trivial as bent things are usually not easy to build with bricks. I finally used vehicle mudguards with rounded slopes. For the glowing ring in the middle a life preserver was used. Here is the result: All images and instructions can be found here: Ori Mothership on BrickShelf This isn't the first Stargate Mini model I've made, so, if allowed, here are a few thumbnails. Maybe it motivates some more Stargate building Thanks for stepping by! ~ Christopher Quote
Big Cam Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 (edited) Good grief!, You're like a mini factory. Now I know this design as I'm a fan of the movies. This is great, but wait, there are more!! I love the inside area where the two front fork type pieces meet. Very inventive. How do you come up with all of these? Edited October 17, 2009 by Big Cam Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Ah, another Stargate fan!! I've been a fan of the show since it began, though personally I think its fallen by the wayside since Richard Dean Anderson left..... Nice mini models! My fawourite would have to be Goa'uld mothership. Nicely done! Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Looks perfect. I hate the Ori through... what a horrible storyline. Quote
L-space Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Good job you did here Amazing how some can get details on a 8x8 square sized model. (Personally I prefer Atlantis, but to each his own.) Quote
Forresto Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Beautiful ship! just........just... so beautifully done in lego. I'm not a big Star Gate fan so I don't know who the Ori are, although I do like the original film and SG: universe. Quote
zero1312 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 WOW, A pretty good representation of the ships in the series. Quote
Legostein Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 Hello and thank you for all the comments! It's great to see there are quite some Stargate fans here. Good grief!, You're like a mini factory. Now I know this design as I'm a fan of the movies. This is great, but wait, there are more!! I love the inside area where the two front fork type pieces meet. Very inventive. How do you come up with all of these? Thanks Cam! I try not to be a factory. Making a proper mini model is tricky and takes time. Often I need weeks until I am fully satisfied. You can't force it either. While watching the series you sometimes get an idea, see a certain shape, and an idea pops up in your mind. It's spontaneous. Ah, another Stargate fan!! I've been a fan of the show since it began, though personally I think its fallen by the wayside since Richard Dean Anderson left. Nice mini models! My favourite would have to be Goa'uld mothership. Heya, thanks! I am also a big fan of O'Neill and personally my SG universe ends after season 8. The Goa'uld mothership took me quite long actually, until I came up with a valid idea how to do a tetrahedral pyramid. It's a simple solution, but these often are not obvious. Looks perfect. I hate the Ori through... what a horrible storyline. Thank you. I am not a fan of the Ori either. They should have stopped after season eight. A new crew, a new enemy was not of the more original ideas in my opinion. But nonetheless, the shape of the Ori ship is unique and funny, and thus I designed one. Good job you did here Amazing how some can get details on a 8x8 square sized model. (Personally I prefer Atlantis, but to each his own.) Thanks! Often you have to use a certain piece which combines shape and detail. That's why it takes me so long. For the Atlantis fans, the Puddlejumper is already there, and I hope to do more soon. Beautiful ship! just........just... so beautifully done in lego. I'm not a big Star Gate fan so I don't know who the Ori are, although I do like the original film and SG: universe. My pleasure, thank you! I also like the original movie. Ra's mothership and the deathglider can also be found in the gallery above. WOW, A pretty good representation of the ships in the series. Thank you. It's a great praise when miniatures are being recognized instantly. I will try to fill the gaps of missing ships slowly, but constantly. Quote
