Talon Karrde Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 "Travelling through the mountains had become more dangerous of late, but none of us realised the danger we were in until it was too late..." I started this build with the bridge, then built up (or down really) each side of the canyon until they each was finished, then joined them together which was a total female canine and the most annoying part of the build but I guess that's the way you pay really for starting from the top ;-P Then I tiled the water out and constructed the waterfall. Finally I added vegetation and the actual battle scene, putting the flames and the final touches on the bridge. This build took almost all of my light bley. Brickshelf Folder (When modded.) Enjoy, Eurobrickers :) Quote
hewkii9 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 A couple more deeplinks would be nice about now, but what I see I really like - the sheerness of the cliffs works well here. The fig posing seems good too [especially the Crownie being thrown off the cliff], although I think that little waterfall could use a bit more life. Quote
CommanderFox Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 This is awesome!! I really like the cliff, the bridge on fire and the foliage-vegetation and the men fighting in it but I think the waterfall could do with abit more work, the water is fine though well done!! CommanderFox Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 The cliffs could use some work, but the overall build is amazing. The bridge looks great too. Too bad the bridge is going to burn down, it's going to make things very tricky for both sides... ~LW 8~ Quote
LuxorV Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Neatly done and fully packed with action A really nice to see diorama. Btw, are the red warriors some sort of 'special troops' or only a sub-species? LuxorV Quote
YG-49 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Aww, I thought this would be based off Ranger's Apprentice. The cliff is good. Quote
Talon Karrde Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 I think that little waterfall could use a bit more life. Yeah, for sure, but complications which threatened the integral structure of the model ensued - if you know what I mean This is awesome!! I really like the cliff, the bridge on fire and the foliage-vegetation and the men fighting in it but I think the waterfall could do with abit more work, the water is fine though well done!! CommanderFox Thanks, and yeah, see above about the waterfal l The cliffs could use some work How so? I got exactly what I was going for on those cliffs, vertical but textured well at the same time. Neatly done and fully packed with action A really nice to see diorama.Btw, are the red warriors some sort of 'special troops' or only a sub-species? LuxorV Um idk just Daemons I guess Aww, I thought this would be based off Ranger's Apprentice. The cliff is good. Nope, fraid not hehe - I don't read fantasy trash but thanks anyway. Thanks everyone! Sir Dillon Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Cool diorama, with some great action. The knight leaping through the flames is my favourite detail. While the action is very well done, I have a hard time figuring out the order of events. It seems both factions are coming from both sides, and due to the narrowness of the bridge, I don't understand how everyone could have become so spread out and intermingled, considering this appears to be the beginning of the skirmish. Captain Blackmoor Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Great diorama Talon! Great landscaping also, a bit squarish though. Perhaps slopes will work? I like the fire too, with the knight in it. Perhaps a few transculent pieces on the waterfall would add a lot of detail. Quote
Millacol88 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 This is great! The cliffs are definitely the best part, and the whole thing has a sense of movement and action. If I were a soldier, I wouldn't be brave enough to run over a burning bridge, straight into my enemy, with the risk of falling down a sheer cliff to my death. Once again, this is great, and I look forward to more dioramas like this one. Quote
