DNL Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The castle has been restored in the 19th century to live in, but now it belongs to the government and has been opened for visitors. You may have noticed there is no stage 5, that is because i decided to make this stage first. More pictures on Flickr Brickshelf gallery Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Fantastic build! The realistic look about it is amazing! I really like the rocks and the tower to the right. I think the tree over to there could use some type of makeover. :laugh Fantastic MOC, keep it up! ~LW 8~ Quote
Dragonator Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Yay for Dragons! Ahem, then is, yay for Hrothingas! Truly spectacular, I didn't think it could get any better than the last stage. Love the carpark, a nice addition. It took me a while at first to notice all the changes to the main castle, but now that I'm seeing them I'm pretty impressed. I'd probably be even more impressed if I found a picture of stage 4 and compared it. I think I might do that... I particularly love the wooden hoardings, those look fantastic! And the wooden tower top has a lot of great detail too. In fact, everything has a lot of great detail, it just takes a while to take it all in. Give me a few hours... So, I presume Stage 5 will be a derelict ruin then, aye? I'm looking forward to it, whatever it is. Quote
Tom Bricks Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Looks good, I love the modern touches. One question though what is on top of the tower? I'm not sure what the thing with the fire is. Quote
Corvus Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Wonderful job. I really enjoy looking at it as it keeps evolving fom a wooden fort, getting more and more complex. Really, really cool. Looks good, I love the modern touches. One question though what is on top of the tower? I'm not sure what the thing with the fire is. I was wonder that, too. Must be a reference. Quote
Commander Flash Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Great ending to one heck of a project (or maybe a post apoc one...) I enjoyed watching it evolve Quote
keetong Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Wow, its nearly bigger than my houseits trully astonishing. Its hard to believe you actually built it, but you did, all those little details give it that little edge on the competition (its a imaginary competition) The mangonel and balista are mad and the detail on the stone is great. All I can say is keep up the good work. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Amazing! It just keeps getting better and better. The colors and proportions and spacial relatioships are tremendous. When can I move in! Quote
BlueBard Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Brilliant idea modernizing Hrothingas Castle area! The nowadays details and the visitors are really great and it's a perfectly normal "end" for such a nice castle becoming a touristic attraction How much is the ticket? I look forward for stage 5 Quote
Perterz Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 This makes me wonder how glorious stage 5 will be! Love the idea of modernising it like we know Castles today. I love this parking lot area! Great Castle at its own, lovely details in shape and decoration. I have a question, do you rebuild every stage or is it a whole new moc like you could display all stages next to each other? Might be expensive but I would love to see that! Anyway good luck with building stage 5, and maybe a 7 as a futuristic one (if a Castle would survive stage 6). The whole display just looks so real, stunning work. Still like stage 3 the best. Keep at it man! Quote

Stage five will not be quite glorious I do not rebuild every stage as it would take way to much time and bricks to do so. It would be nice to see al the stages next to eachother, but that would only be possible with a smaller MOC. Great ending to one heck of a project default_classic.gif (or maybe a post apoc one...) I enjoyed watching it evolve This is the last stage of the castle, i won't make a futuristic stage because i don't have the right parts for that, and i really feel like building something else than this project now. (I will make one more stage, nr 5) Looks good, I love the modern touches. One question though what is on top of the tower? I'm not sure what the thing with the fire is. There is a close-up of that somewhere in the gallery. Fantastic build! The realistic look about it is amazing! I really like the rocks and the tower to the right. I think the tree over to there could use some type of makeover. :laugh Fantastic MOC, keep it up! ~LW 8~ It's supposed to look like a 'modern' tree, that's why it looks so boring. Quote
Teddy Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Hi DNL, this is a cool idea to put the castle in the modern age. Could fit right in in any city now. I really like all the little and big changes you made everywhere. And whats with the flying guy? Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy Stage five will not be quite glorious I do not rebuild every stage as it would take way to much time and bricks to do so. It would be nice to see al the stages next to eachother, but that would only be possible with a smaller MOC. Photoshop is your friend. Quote

Sir Dillon Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Great work, a worthy final stage of this brilliant series. You've done very well capturing that sort of excessive detail that might have been put into the castle after it was no longer a practical defense. I especially like the tudor on the right tower. I look forward to stage five. Building the stages out of order is clever; it will probably save you a lot of time. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 That's again an absolutely awesome Castle MOC, DNL! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic and the architecture and the details are stunning! The most I like the house with the detailed frame work, the donjon with the round colored window and the tower with the wooden oriels! The idea of turning the castle into a museum is brilliant, too! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
mrts Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 HA! almost missed this one! Really cool idea this stage! Great project and brilliant execution! Quote
