SlyOwl Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I had intended to do a castle version of King Kong (Clancy of course being Kong), with a giant dragon, bat and dreagle (dragon+eagle), as the bi-planes, but I ran out of time to build the dragon and bat, so here's the dreagle... Quote
Buttons Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 That SkyOwl is outstanding I am almost a little scared by how good that MOC is. You have an amazing atention to detail. You deserve a well earned pat on the back. Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Wow, so detailed! Looks amazing! I love the castle is designed as well as the dock. The minifig hand cornfield is really creative as well, Great Job!! Quote
Pickerel Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 WOW! Thanks for the spoiler on who's gonna win! This has got to be the most detailed mini-scale MOC I've ever seen! You have so many creative uses for hands, cornfields, arches, rooftops on fire! How did you connect the flippers to the tower? Also, is that an official piece attached to the well? I can hardly make something this detailed in a normal scale, and you do it in a mini-scale! Impressed Pickerel! Quote
Adam Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 When I looked at this thread, I saw the MOC first- and easily knew who it was created by without looking at the poster's avatar. This is one truely amazing work of yours, and the details you put into it are outstanding. I love the dock, which was made so perfectly, the way you used minfigure arms for cows, the amazingness of the dreagle (great work with that parrot! ), the hooks in the towers, the flipper roof... I could go on and on. My favorite part is that flipper roof, which I would love to know how you made- I figured it out on "The Beacons Are Lit!", but as to how you got the curve, I am amazed. I like how you put round studs here in there to interrupt the castle wall, as well as the mini-scale trees. Great work! Now, how did you get that curve? Quote
Tim Bit Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Those are two outstanding mocs I love them! P.S. I love the "giant" orc attacking the people in the castle! Quote
JimBee Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Ingenues! I am stunned, Sly Owl! Both the dragon and MOC are extremely impressive and clever, withought doubt. Congratulations on making this wonderful MOC. Quote
Zepher Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Hey, SlyOwl, great work. It's as always very well done. I sometimes view micro-scale as a cop-out for people who can't really build MOCs, but I think it really take more creative parts usage and skill than almost any other style of build. Great work again! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 In all other scales, your work has always been a sight. Now I see this, and I couldn't help but just stare for a few minutes. Amazing. Way to MOC with such a tiny scale!!! Quote
Front Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Looka at the cone shaped roof. Isn't that just great ? Front Quote
Fordo Jumping Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 marvelous work I see...... you use so many different parts of figures that make the scene looks better and better, but I have a question: the things on the farms is a scarecrow and..... crops?? On the other hand are those arms sheeps? Your mini horses are fantastic, and the little figures are impressive as well. Quote
Zepher Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Just noticed the well, what pieces did you use for that? Fantastic! Quote
hollisbrick Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 WOW is all I can say..nay I can say more Great work The roof is pure genious! And all the little details or amazing Quote
I Scream Clone Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I love the scale of this piece SlyOwl, You have really presented yet another brilliant MOC. The figures are soooo cute too! I only have one gripe/constructive criticism, the roof, whilst looking cool made from flippers, is just way to big for the mini nature of the rest of the build. Perhaps less steepness to the design might aid in the final wash up? Great work otherwise Quote
Fluyt Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 The piece for the well looks like a "chain link" piece (like from the hailfire droid set), and the part of the fencework that would open is "Dark Gray Hose, Rigid". Incredible moc, very inventive uses for parts and very detailed Quote
Guss Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 wonderful ! this little horse is awesome! and everything is awesome !!! as always...you always make so nice mocs, I'm jealous! what is this contest, I never heard of it ? Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Thankye That SkyOwl is outstanding I am almost a little scared by how good that MOC is. You have an amazing atention to detail. You deserve a well earned pat on the back. Who is this SkyOwl you speak of? WOW! The flippers are attached by clips to an exo-force trans-flexi-thingy on top of the tower, and then after that they are balanced (but with a 1x1 brick/plate/round plate attached to the stud) in rows, leaning inwards onto a variety of different wheel sizes. It would be possible to make it stronger using more clips and flexi stuff, but I ran out The well is a technic chain link, as Fluyt said marvelous work I see...... you use so many different parts of figures that make the scenelooks better and better, but I have a question: the things on the farms is a scarecrow and..... crops?? On the other hand are those arms sheeps? Your mini horses are fantastic, and the little figures are impressive as well. Scarecrow, yes. Crops, yes. Sheep, yes. I only have one gripe/constructive criticism, the roof, whilst looking cool made from flippers, is just way to big for the mini nature of the rest of the build. Perhaps less steepness to the design might aid in the final wash up? I did think that when I made it (it was really steep the first try, but that looked wrong), but I can't see myself using it in the next few months, so I thought I might as well use it this time round. what is this contest, I never heard of it ? Mini Castle Contest IV on Classic-Castle. It's sort of a fore-runner to the Colossal Castle Contest. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Impressive! I like the technique you've used for shingling the cone roof. Quote
Orion Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 When I heard about the contest I seriously considered entering, then I saw this. If you don't win I'll be quite amazed. ' Quote
Adam Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Guess what? This creation has inspired me to build an entry! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Absolutely amazing work SlyOwl! I'm just sorry I wasn't able to see it earlier. I'm always a big fan of your brick-built animals and these mini versions are really great. The "giant" is a very nice touch, and the dock is fantastic. It's fun to see how many creative ways you can make things mini. Great MOC! Quote
iamded Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 That is stunning. SO many clever techniques. I love the well. It's amazing. It fits in so well. I really like the well. Really though, the well is just one of the many great ideas in there. Great job. ~Peace Quote
Dragonator Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 This is really great SlyOwl. I love how you've sloped the plates to create a feeling of landscaping, and you have used a lot of different parts in some ingenious ways. The dreagle is awesome, really creative use of parts there to make a really neat animal. I love it. I was considering making an entry for this, but I don't think I will now. I'll save myself for the CCCVI. Quote
Teddy Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Dear Slyowl, that is just a stunning creation! I love the little details. I also like the small height differences you made on the "road". Looks like some plates are up half a plate height and others are on an angle. As said, I like the roof, but on the other hand it is disproportionally large. But i can understand you left it in to show this technique you invented. Overall I really like it. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
