the enigma that is badger Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Some great new prototypes from BrickArms that were displayed at BrickCon. MG42 LMG: Derringer Pistol: Colt Navy Pistol: Bazooka: Explosive Rocket Round: Longsword: Paintball Marker: More images of all the great new prototypes can be found here. But that's not all . . . . I did promise the Pirate fans something, didn't I? Like all prototypes, the designs and colors of the items are subject to change in the final production items. The release date of these items also has yet to be determined yet, but rest assured, you'll read about it here when they're available! badger Quote
Zorro Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Just as your other items, I like them a lot ! IMHO the 2 new pistols (Navy Colt and Derringer) are amongst the best historical looking pistols you've made till now. Quote
Dragonator Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Man these look awesome. I love the paint-ball gun, that is pretty funny. And the explosives look useful. I'm going to have to get a fair amount of this stuff. The longsword looks good too, it's nice to see a number of variations of the sword from different companies, it gives me more to chose from. Keep 'em coming guys. Quote
kill will Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) Awesome! The bazooka is a much needed addition to the brickarms arsenal, and I could see many uses for the rocket. The revolvers, meh, I'm not a big fan of them. I think Will should make more semi-auto pistols, like a Beretta or something, but that's my opinion. I'm not at all familiar with the MG42 LMG, and I think it looks a bit to star wars-y. I have a Spyder paintball gun that looks just like that one, but I don't know how I would use it in Lego. My opinion overall, AMAZING! out of 5. Edited October 7, 2008 by kill will Quote
Lego12 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 The MG42 LMG is sweet! I am defianitly going to get some! Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Thanks for sharing these Badger! I'm really liking that Colt Navy pistol and the longsword. The derringer is neat too. Quote
Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 These are great, gearing up for a BA order definately soon! My only question is, why is the MGL not shown here? I know it may not be produced, but still, shouldn't it be here? DSR Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 My only question is, why is the MGL not shown here? I know it may not be produced, but still, shouldn't it be here? Indeed it should! Sorry, so many great new items to post, that one managed to slip through the cracks! Like the above picture shows, the chamber is completely removable and clippable onto any other grippable item. The barrel of the accessory is also wide enough to add a BrickArms monopod to badger Quote
iamded Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I love that bazooka and rocket round. The RPG is great and all, but it's just not a bazooka. I sure hope Will puts this into production. The grenade launcher is another new favourite of mine, the removable chamber is a great touch. Fantastic new prototypes indeed, kudos to Will, and to the enigma that is badger for bringing us the news! ~Peace Quote
Legoking Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Indeed it should! Sorry, so many great new items to post, that one managed to slip through the cracks! JimBee Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Nice, I like the paintball gun, Colt, and MGL are my picks, although the longsword and pirate accessories are cool. Nice to see BA expanding on more and more weapons these days... Quote
Zorro Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 That MGL prototype is so cool , if I had them (and soon I might), I would build myself a Terminator scene. Not necessary from the movies, it could be one of my own, in either case it would be humans versus robots (Duhh..). I am thinking of the battlescene where the human HQ gets overrun by the robots, dead soldiers and destroyed robots lying around in any corner. Those MGL's look quite expensive though, or is that just my imagination speaking because they look so incredibly detailed and... well..."extensive" (notice the T instead of the P ). Please tell us when they are available for order. Quote
Rayman Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Badger, you should tell Will to stop with all the awesome customs! We'll be pretty broke by the time mold 5 or 6 gets finalised! I can't really say what the others have already said about the prototypes, and it is always very exciting to see what arms master Will creates next. The MGL and the U-clip are definitely my pick of the litter this time around. My gut feeling with the MG-42 is that it is about 90% perfect. It might benefit the balance and the look of the gun if the butt-end of the MG were a little more defined. A parting line between the back of the gun and the stock could do the trick. I saw a prototype BA Voight-Kampff machine on Damien's Flickr account. Any light on that accessory Badger? As beautiful as this current lineup of custom bricks are, I simply fell in with the VK machine! It seems that Brickarms is expanding to lines other than modern weapons, so it would very interesting to see a "Brickstuff" subtheme of Brickarms in the future. I presume that the scalpel and the syringe were a big hit with fans. I think that the market for non-lethal paraphernalia is an interesting alternative that could be explored in the future. Quote
Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Oh, cool I helped for once! YAY! Also, the MGL is so sweet! The removeable clib is an amazing detail. Keep up the good work, Will! And badger, keep hypin' them! PS: If I were to order from BA soon, is there a slight chance that my free weapon would be one of the new prototypes? DSR Quote
DarthPineapple Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 A MG42, oh wow! I've been waiting for this one for such a long time! It will look great with my Germans! Quote
Skinny Boy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Indeed it should! Sorry, so many great new items to post, that one managed to slip through the cracks!badger One? What about the ammo chain? I think they all look great, but the Bazooka is my favourite Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 I saw a prototype BA Voight-Kampff machine on Damien's Flickr account. Any light on that accessory Badger? That's just something fun Will threw together to compliment the M2019 pistol. I honestly don't know Will's plans for that one, although I don't recall him ever saying he'd take it to mass production. Slightly more likely is that it'll be included with a BrickArms custom "Android Hunter" custom minifig if he ever decides to do one. If I were to order from BA soon, is there a slight chance that my free weapon would be one of the new prototypes? Unfortunately, no. Prototypes are only produced for testing purposes and given to fans and supporters of BrickArms at conventions. The "free item" included with an order is usually an existing BA accessory in a special color . . . like the new dark-gold pieces that Will just received! One? What about the ammo chain? Ah, there's a difference between concept pieces and prototypes. Prototypes are much further down the design process and usually are fairly close to what the final product is going to be. Concept pieces are rough sketches of future ideas that may or may not be something Will chooses to pursue. Examples are the double-barrel shotgun and both ammo chains displayed at BrickCon (single piece injected with flexible plastic and a multi-part chain held together with clips). Still, if an idea makes it to the "concept piece" stage, chances are its something that's on Will's mind. All I can say is keep watching BrickArms for future updates! badger Quote

Darth Destro Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great prototypes badger! I'm gonna get a few paintball guns for my agents to train with. Any ideas when they'll be coming out. Quote

Joey Lock Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) Gotta love that MG42! Although the Revolvers look at bit oversized Will there be a Bullet belt to go in the Slot of the MG42? Since the Bullet clip doesnt seem big enough at 3 bullets a clip Sorry for all the skepticism! Edited October 18, 2008 by Joey Lock Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 Although the Revolvers look at bit oversized If you mean the Colt Navy, keep in mind that the real-life Colt Navy revolver was a very, very large pistol. The 1851 model that the BA Colt Navy Revolver is based on was over 14 inches long! That actually makes the Colt Navy longer than the Auto-9 prop (which measured 12")! As such, Will has scaled the Colt Navy accordingly. Will there be a Bullet belt to go in the Slot of the MG42? Will does have plans for the slot that's found in both the MG42 and the Mk48 (they're identical). He did try a solid injected belt which can be seen here: However, that item required custom injection with a more flexible type of plastic (obtained from Bionicle parts) and as such, isn't something Will could ever mass produce. Still, Will added those slots to the designs of those LMGs for a reason, and all I can see if keep watching BrickArms to see how Will plans to fill them! badger Quote
Norrington Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Derringer Pistol: Omg, that is so great! The minute I saw that, the phrase "JOHN WILKES BOOTH'D" immediatly came into my head. These are great prototypes, but the Derringer and the Colt Navy Revolver are my personal favorites. Quote
