Urg and Grog, the advance troll party, have been dispatched ahead of the Mighty Troll Armada, which is set to storm the beaches of the Good Kings Kingdom (cant really have a kingdom without a king i suppose  )

Here we see our two intrepid Trolls brave the stormy seas to light the beacon that will keep the Armada off the dangerous reefs. As Grog holds the dingy steady, Urg, fearing a good lashing for failure, ascends the carved granite staircase to the beacon. Holding his torch to the kindling the bonfire quickly ignites lighting the way for his fellow warriors!

Somehow this MOC and the story included with it remind me a lot of Lord of the Rings. Maybe it's the beacon or the focus on two individuals instead of the whole army, I don't know...

But it's very well done, anyway! There are some neat details, like the skeleton and the scorpion and the piece of silver. I do have one suggestion, though: you might want to individualize the trolls a bit. The official sets don't offer much variety for the faction in terms of outfits and such, so maybe we fans should give them variety instead, if you get what I mean.

Nice MOC! I really like how you did some things in a simple but effective way, like for example the harbor (nice way to dispose the planks, BTW), the beacon and, of course, your little waves :sweet: Anyway there's something I did not catch: what's that "barrel" (?) in the middle of the boat? :look:

I must say it also reminds me a lot of Lord Of The Rings Movie, even if it's seen from "the other side" LOL By the way there's a fantastic novel callled "The Last Ring" which shows the famous war of the Ring and its consequences from the orc side, maybe it would interest you

I really wanted to focus on individual trolls, and i should have individualized them a little more, thanks for the tip! :classic:

I must admit it does have a certain element of Lord of the Rings about it, unintentionally though pleasantly noted by you and Sandy.

I will have to look for "The Last Ring" thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for all the recent comments on all my MOCs Bluebard, I really appreciate them.

Very well done, nice little story. The way you;ve built the landscape is excellent.

Thanks, I really love building cliff faces at the moment though i need to get some more slopes especially these to finish off with 50746.gif

When reading that title I expect something way else than this nice creation.

Perhaps that's because I read "Race for the Bacon"?

Anyway, nice build! Always nice to see something build around a little story.

The rickety bridge and the skeleton spice it up nicely.

My only advice would to replace the round bricks for the barrel in the both by a real barrel.

Thanks Mr Tiber, i do have one lying around. I was actually going to change the Beacon to a Pirate tower and put some pirate figures on the MOC and post my first ever Pirate creation! Time will tell if i can come up with something cool. Man i sure can say pirate a lot (some sort of subconcious thing i guess)

Mmmmmm Bacon!

I like the Rickety bridge, it's pretty well done!

As for the Landscaping, it's excellent, I need to pick up some more Dark bley bits...
