tin7_creations Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) I posted a topic last month about creating disney figs... and finally, they're close to existence. i made some of the helmets that will be used for the characters: mickey, donald, beast. (mickey and donald still require paint) However, i have a little problem.. the beast head is too big to look natural on the normal figs... and the only big body fig is Hagrid, which im sorry to say i don't know how to create decals for. does anyone have any suggestion as to what i should use to make beast's body? They're looking good so far. I especially like the jogging torso for Donald, it's a really good match. I think the Hagrid ended up the perfect size. Obviously you'd have to paint the coat portion blue. I'm not really sure of the exact size of the center section for decaling, we've never had anyone try on one of those. If you take a ruler to it and report the measurements back, I can help you get together a template to work from. I'd measure my own but it's buried somewhere. I only bought it for the head. Quote

Shadows Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 i don't know if the measurements would came out right... since the hagrid torso has round sides. but here they are: height =3.5cm, width =approx.2cmdon't know if it's right, perhaps once you manage to dig yours out, then u can double check. thanks for the offer. No no, not the whole figure. You can't really decal the whole figure, it's too curved. You need the measurement of the center flat section where the printing is. That part you could decal, then paint the rest blue with gold trim. See what I mean? Quote

Shadows Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 ohh. right., well the center: height = 2.5cm, width = 1cm... again, it's only a close approximate. thanks Based on those measurements, here is a 600dpi template for that area. The grey is border that you would cut off after printing. If it's a little too big, you can always resize before printing (and let me know so I can adjust the template). Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out! Quote
iamded Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 These are looking great so far. I really mean that, they're awesome! I can't wait to see how these turn out, I hope you find a good way to sort out the Beast. ~Peace Quote
Shadows Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I never could find a shot I really liked working from, but I've sort of thrown together a quick idea for that decal. Feel free to adjust it, change it, or get rid of it completely, but I think it might be helpful as a guideline. Quote
Shoc Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I'm not really much of a Disney person, but these have turned out really nice, perfect molding. I can't wait to see how they turn out once they've been painted and 'decaled'. :skull: Quote

I'm going to stick with this one, but it probably won't be finished until early august, have to wait for a bunch of orders to arrive from Bricklink before I can continue. I'll be making more character helmuts in the time being though, and will be posting them when I am finished. One quick question: When I was curing the sculpey (for the Beast head), I left the horns inside while it was boiling. And now, the horns are stuck. Is there any way to get them out without wrecking the surrounding sculpey? Quote

Is there any way to get them out without wrecking the surrounding sculpey? Maybe you could just twist them. I have used Sculpey with Lego horns before, but I took the horns out before cooking it. It depends how much they are wedged in, if it is just the ends you maybe be able to get them out by twisting, it shouldn't break the Sculpey... :skull: Quote
cartoondude Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Hey those are really good. I prefer Looney Tunes but i still like those a lot. So you used Sculpey? Quote
