Scouty Posted February 12, 2008 Ocean Oddysey for me... I like it, just so *wub* . It's a whole lot more peace full than the Crab Crusher.
Siegfried Posted February 12, 2008 I own both of these so I can say that I like the set 4888 Ocean Odyssey better, but I like the sub in 7774 Crab Crusher more. Since the question was set, I picked 4888. So many great parts that set has. *wub*
Piranha Posted February 12, 2008 Crab Crusher! *wub* I love that giant crab and the Submarine is awesome! Plus the skeleton on diver figs are really cool additions I remember when I went on Atlantis Submarines *wub* Ocean odyssey best replicates that sub though P
Cyclone Titan Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) Ocean Odyssey for me, it looks a whole lot cooler. Edit: 300 posts! Woot, woot! Edited February 12, 2008 by Cyclone Titan
WesternOutlaw Posted February 12, 2008 I'll have to go with Crab Crusher because it's mini-fig scale. I still like the Explorer sub though. It has more of a "classic yellow submarine look". I do like the playability aspects of the Crab Crusher better though, but lego could keep their crab(s). :-D
AgentRick Posted February 12, 2008 I have to go with the Crab Crusher. While the 4888 has a lot of details, the 7774 Just looks more minifig scale. Plus it has a lovely interior and a ton of playability *y* .
Brickmaster Posted February 12, 2008 I own both of these so I can say that I like the set 4888 Ocean Odyssey better, but I like the sub in 7774 Crab Crusher more. Since the question was set, I picked 4888. So many great parts that set has. *wub* This was very close to my response too - the crab crusher is a better sub in all, but as a total better set, ocean oddessy is a great parts pack ;-)
Shadows Posted February 12, 2008 4888. Better parts, better price. 7774 looks good though, aside from the technic cannon and crab. I've never really done the underwater sets. The only ones I even own are: 6199: Hydro Crystalation Station 7776: The Shipwreck 7770: Deep Sea Treasure Hunter (Brickmaster set last year) The first was sitting in a KB Toys Clearance store in 2000 I think, for about $30, The Shipwreck was for a Pirates shipwreck experiment I haven't gotten around to. :-| Now I want a 4888... *sweet*
Asuka Posted February 12, 2008 Crab Crusher. Although the Designer set, like always, leads partwise, the playability of the MF set
Batbrick Posted February 12, 2008 and some of the parts, like the dark green ones, especiallythe printed ones, of the crab
Pate-keetongu Posted February 12, 2008 I like more crab crusher, that crab is really cool and it includes skellie!
WesternOutlaw Posted February 14, 2008 Strangely, it appears that more of you are saying Crab Crusher, yet the voting/poll shows the opposite. I suppose we have a number of voters who have not responded. I own the Crab Crusher, but not Ocean Odyssey (OO). In looking at OO, it reminds me of a Universal/Basic set that I had when I was a kid. I used to build submarines with the pieces and play with in the pool. This was the set: It looks like OO has some great pieces that allow one to build a few alternates. This is a real plus. I'm wondering if Crab Crusher has the same attribute.
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 16, 2008 4888 would have been a very nice set when it would have included some minifigs and a nice interior. The new Aquazone sets are in my oppinion only "action garbage".
Jargo Posted November 2, 2010 If Lego are doing some more serafaring/harbour sets next year a minifig scaled sub would be great. Along the lines of 4888 but perhaps a little shorter. I loved the research aspect of the old divers theme and hated aquaraiders. Any set that positions Lego in a learning through play stanse gets my vote. I'm sick of all the themes with fighting at their core. A good realistic research sub with some nice fish and sea creatures instead of roid rage squid people and deformed shark people would be lovely. less conflict and more conservation. oh and obviously I voted for the ocean odyssey set even if it is a redundant vote. Still Raindrop Posted November 2, 2010 This was a tough one--particularly since I don't have either, so I was just going off the pictures (and I couldn't find any photo reviews, so that added to the difficulty). In the end, I went with 4888 Ocean Odyssey. I just like the look better, and it reminds me more of the old diver sets that I loved.
Randal Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Wow, Talk about back from the dead... this topic is two years old. :D For the record, I think both sets are cool, but I also think this contest was over two years ago. Edited November 2, 2010 by Randal
Still Raindrop Posted November 2, 2010 Wow! I just saw what looked like a new topic with new replies, and didn't look at the date it was posted. Oops! Oh, and Brickenhead-town-dweller, did you notice the depth charges in Ocean Odyssey?
bort138 Posted November 5, 2010 4888 for me. love every model and even though it doesn't contain figs some could work as minifigure scale models.
Big Cam Posted November 5, 2010 I voted for the 4888, the realistic looking sub did it for me.
prateek Posted November 5, 2010 I like the Aqua Raiders sub. It's cool with many features, and a cool crab!
robuko Posted November 5, 2010 4888 is an amazing set for MOCing and easily adapted to minifig scale. Crab crusher is fine but nothing special
Walter Kovacs Posted November 5, 2010 Despite this thread being two years old, it seems people still wish to give their opinions. I voted for Ocean Odyssey, if for no other reason than I have a great dislike for those overused technic cannons. LEGO sort of overdid it with those a few years ago. Ronan Dragonov Posted November 5, 2010 I prefer the sleeker, menacing (i.e. armed), and powerful (check out those props!) design of 7774 - it's ROV even has a hangar to park in when not in use. However more realistic 4888 may be, I find its design boring in comparison. I can see the point of the poster who criticized the "overused technic cannon" - I would add the flick-missiles found in other sets to that category. Clever or elegant weaponry for vehicles has never been within the purview of TLG. Even disarmed I'd say 7774 wins.
