I started a thread a year or two ago about playing Dungeons & Dragons with Lego miniatures, and as I recall, not many people responded.

Since then, we now have some great figs including Vikings, Royal Knights (Crowns), Legions of the Undead, and now Dwarves, plus a number of new monsters.

I'd like to start this discussion again to see if you would be interested in participating in a game of Lego D&D on EB.

About D&D

For those of you who don't remember D&D, it was the first popular role-playing game created in the late 70s/early 80s with knights, magic, dungeons, and monsters. Different participants portraited characters (like fighters, magic-users, clerics, thieves, etc). of different races (human, elf, dwarf, etc.). Dice were used as a Dungeon Master provided scenerios as part of an adventure/module.

Years ago, I played a game of D&D over what was pre-WWW called a Bulletin Board System (BBS). It was slow, did not have any pictures, but a lot of fun.

Would you be interested in seeing a game like this played on EB and if so/not, what is your experience/knowledge with D&D?

Like, online? I know some people who play D&D, but it's all in boardgame form... how would it work over the internet?

I might be interested, but I have pretty much no idea on how to play.

Yes, it would be on-line. Almost similar to one of my mysteries. Dice are used as well as tables with various stats. Some would include:

Tables for character abilities, hit points (life points), damage from various weapons, spells, armor class (what it takes to hit someone), saving throws (protection against poison, and various spells). These are just to name a few. If we did this in Lego, just the minimal tables would be used for simplicity.

Boards/Dungeon Tiles are used with minature figures (metal in my day), to give players an idea of what a dungeon looks like (they can move forward, right, left, back, etc - this for melee combat). Over the web, the Dungeon Master would provide the choices for moving.

Seems like fun, playing a Castle themed game with other Eurobricks members. One slight problem, I haven't the faintest clue how to play D&D, so you'd have to explain the rules to me. Do you think you could set up a game like that?

This isn't really my cup of tea... I think I'll stick with the T.I.E Army... :-$

Hmmm when i first saw this title i thought someone had created some D&D figures based off of the old tv cartoon series.

I'm afraid these games are not for me.

This could be interesting..... *sweet*

I would *wub* to take part, count me in if this all gets set up and everything. :'-)

If you need any help with it, just ask me! :-) *y*

Question though, I think some more rules will need to be explained, such as how we play over the internet... :-D

Sounds like it will be fun! :-) *y*

I'm actually working on making a program in Excel 07 right now (might convert it to Access 07) where there is a list of all the lego weapons, armor, and helmets. Then there is another list of characters with inventory where you can select weapons, armor, and helmets from the other list. Then, there is a final page where it predicts who would win in a 1 vs 1 fight and what damage is done depending on the dice roll.

I'm not quite finished indexing all the weapons quite yet, but if anyone wants to take a look at it and has Microsoft Excel, let me know and I'll post a copy of it.

I played several times as a young kid !! I prefered Call of Cthulhu though in the same kind of game !! Always was a fan of Lovecraft and horror movies !

I never was a fan of role playing and stuff like that !! Virtual characters and lives and what have you is so not for me !! I guess I am too down to earth and pragmatic for that ;-)

I really would not be interested with such a game.

Therefore good luck for that and I really think it should be in that roleplay forum ;-)

Might be fun. Though I have no experience with such and have no idea how it would work. Maybe you could call it B&B for bards and bricks...

You can definitely count me in, too *y*

But I can't help wonder how it'll work with the time lag between all the participants (we don't really all live on the same continent, do we)...

Sometimes I wonder if we all live on the same planet. ;-)

I wouldn't dare imagine what the time lag would be in a situation like THAT? X-D
