Just like that, Scorpio was again relieved of his science-ing duties. One lousy mission assisting Big Sal that just had to go wrong, and he was back doing hazard pay. Oh well, his debt to M.A.N.T.I.S. was nearly paid off, and this job wasn't as bad as Crentium had been.

Rumors had been swirling that the Kawashita were sending their fleet toward Marden in an effort to crush M.A.N.T.I.S.' aggression. However, M.A.N.T.I.S. had been unable to confirm the fleet's position, since Kawashita was scrambling their signals.

They had picked up some weak transmissions from an abandoned Kawa station in the southern quadrant; they suspected that if the station were operational, they could use it to track the fleet's movement.

Scorpio approached slowly, and saw the place in obvious disrepair; it had probably been months since anyone had been here. The door was ajar, and everywhere was debris, covered in a thick layer of snow, as was the roof. As Scorpio entered, he hoped the roof held. Hazard pay, indeed. Hmpf.
