DME Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Dr. Zoey Xing filing in my report after several months of remote research on the water world, Lorstan II. I set up my remote research lab on the largest island I could find. My lab is safe from the changing tide high up on the cliffside. The small river that runs through to channel the island's runoff is also the perfect temporary power source for the lab. The islands are anchors for an impressive variety of plant life in a vast, dessert-like ocean. The sea life and aquatic plants are constantly washing up from the extreme tidal changes. One particular species that stands out in the mix on this planet is the "black bamboo" as previously discovered by fellow Kawashita member: Zepher. This growth is actually a variety of fungi that shoots up from deep under ground and is extremely water-absorbant. When physically connected to its water supply, these things can grow to great hights! Their cellular structure is the key to this absorption property the fungi possess. I think we can use the material that it grows to efficiently extract vast amounts of water from this planet while simultaneously filtering it. Please, feel free to check out more photos and details here! Quote
LittleJohn Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Fabulous work here! The base is cool, but what really steals the show for me is the landscape, especially the rockwork Excellent waterfall too Quote
Jody Meyer Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Great work here for sure, love the rock work with the plant life. Quote
DME Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Thanks guys! I really appreciate the complements. It took me over five times rebuilding the waterfall and the larger cliff face until I got them to a satisfying level. I also wanted to try expanding my color palette with the water, rocks, and grass from my usual old blue, grey, and green. Overall, I am very happy with how this one turned out Quote
