---------- Start Log ---------

Landed on G07 today.

Good news and Bad news......the good news is that I found a very large source of water deep inside the forest. The bad news is that the forest is home to some rather large, territorial butterflies that did not appreciate me walking under their nests in my Recon Walker.

They attacked in numbers and I barely made it back to my shelter intact. Serves me right, I could be having fun in the lava with my buddies, but nooooooo I had to volunteer. Mom would be so proud of me now!

ROFLMAO! This is a great scene!

The trees are curious though, they look like they keep growing in the trunk while the leaves always stay near the top!

Palm trees do exactly this. Monocots versus dicots, and all that.

 Very nice build Shmails, the grassland is really pretty and the concept is great! Really like how you left a track behind the mech thing too!

Thanks so much everyone for the wonderful comments and response to my build! I added a link to the album with larger photos, sorry about the mix up there.

The trees were designed that way on purpose. I wanted it to look like a forest, but an alien one, so I went for a canopy look like in a rain forest or jungle. I also wanted it to look like the butterflies would hide on top of the trees, out of sight of my poor explorer.

Thanks again everyone!
