I am in London last weekend of November. Brick 2014 runs at the same time and naturally I will attend for at least some hours during saturday.

I have found some notes that the Volvo 42030 will be there, along with a real Volvo(!)

Besides from this I haven't really found any Technic events at Brick 2014, or maybe they do not post that many news?

I think the Netherlands Lego show is more or less one of the best, how does Brick 2014 stand in comparison?

The technic community is much greater over there (I think) than it is here in Australia. From my experiences at the brickvention the only technic models there were official lego models. I have been going for about 7 years now and I think I have only ever seen about ten MOCS there over the years. But I don't know about London

I'll be rocking a whole stable of my Technic Motorcycles at Brickvention 2015

I've just gone over the exhibitor floor plan at BRICK, and although I don't know everybody there I can't immediately see anybody who I know will be exhibiting mainly Technic stuff. You're right about the Volvo, though, it will be there, in two (very) different sizes :)

I think it will be worth visiting no matter what kind of LEGO you're into (or, for that matter, even if you're not into LEGO at all). There's going to be a lot of impressive models on display!

Yep, I will be there! Looking forward to it no matter how much or less technic.

I'm an exhibitor there so I've had a look at the schedule... didn't see much about technic specifically but there is certainly an impressive line-up and plenty of stuff to see. There will be various sellers there as well so, more than likely, you'll find lots you want to buy!

I was there on Friday. Yes there is the life size Volvo there (it's huuuuuge) with some remote-control models for kids to drive around. There didn't seem to be a very long queue but it will probably be different at the weekend.

Technic on the whole was not very well represented. There are a couple of stalls selling Technic sets but only alongside other stuff. The main interest is the Mindstorms stall where the awesome Cubestormer is on display. Alongside it there is an area where people can build their own robots (from a truckload of Technic/Mindstorms parts). There are also a couple of stalls offering hands-on sessions to teach kids about robotics.

Whole show is 'awesome' - to coin a Lego phrase. Sadly, for Technic fans, I echo EvilTwin's assessment. From what I gather from chatting with Lego company designers the show, the main target audience for Lego products is the under 12's, so teens and AFOLS can feel a bit left out. Watching little ones driving the model Volvos wheel loader (in the scoup of the humoungous Volvlo L350F) was really fun. Two at a time so you can see both models in action. The Volvo rep there said they have 3 sets of the models they switch in and out to make sure they always have a pair that run. As kids were running them into each other (inadvertently, I hasten to say) it is not surprising they would need some 'good squeezies' to get them working again. I would say from watching for a while, it is a rugged set that works very well. I think I understood th Volvo rep to say there is discussion going on for another Volvo Lego model.

I went yesterday and had a blast, thank you (Best day of my life) I'm still recovering from the hype.

Bad:

-The Official Brick2014 stand was empty, why?

-Needed more space/pieces for LEGO Minecraft layout.

-More models of the 'LEGO Technic Remote-Controlled VOLVO L350F Wheel Loader' I never had the chance to try it out.

-I saw someone looking through there VIP bags: not really cool. Most people who are visiting would already have THE LEGO Movie.

-The people who were selling stuff had crazy prices e.g. One guy was selling the Mini MINI Cooper ploybog for £40 O_O

-The barriers are really annoying but I guess it's for kids to not get their hands on MOC's.

Good:

-Meeting and recognising many people and builds I knew online: Caperberry‌, Peter Reid, Mark Stafford (LEGO Designer), Mark Guest (Editor for Blocks magazine), Tom Poulsom (LEGO Birds creator), TheBrickShow (Jason, Stephen and Chad), Keith Severson, Tim Goddard. I spent about 20 minutes having a chat with Jason and Stephen just before 9pm and the security guard to asked me to leave.

-Toys 'R' us had the free Ninjago and Rocket Raccoon ploybags with any purchase near the end of the day. So I purhcased two minifigures and got both ploybags :D

-Free Batman from DK stand as well as a free LEGO Club Max minifigure.

-Amazing creations and very nice people.

-The ticket price of £20 reflected so much value and memories.

Take notes for next time:

-Have several full charged cameras (mine drained half was through)

-Don't go on your own it's a nightmare getting people to understand your camera.

-Don't have too many layers of clothing.

-Have empty hands. I had to build a LEGO Minecraft creation with one hand over 2 hours.

-I'm definitely coming back next year and hopefully it will be me behind the table.

I went today. I took my son and two of his friends, and we all thought it was better than GWBS.

Early on we met Tom Poulson. Great to see all of the birds he made! We had our photo taken with the Brick Show and later on we met Mark Stafford and Pete Reid. Must put the Mammoth Stomper on My Xmas List!

The kids spent lots of money in the fantastic (but expensive) shops. My son spent £40 and just got some minifigures and parts! He seems happy though.

The Minecraft display looked lovely as a whole; very colourful and creative and plenty of minifigs.

The boys were very happy to get Mark Stafford's autograph and see some of his MOCs.

Also, lovely quote from Mark on his Justin Beiber Cuusoo project:

"When it was deleted, my faith in humanity was restored!"

Overall, definitely better than GWBS. Looking forward to going again next year!

I'm displaying at the show and whilst the barriers are inconvenient, we've had 3-4 times as many people as on Thur/Fri, its a compromise between showing the models off and protecting them from accidental damage.

I can't speak to why the Brick 2014 merch stand was empty on Thu/Fri, but they were stocked on the weekend.

The vendors who come to this type of show, tend to be at the higher end of the price market, online is better for bargins.

I'm glad you enjoyed it !

cheers

I can speak as to why the merchandise stall was completely empty on Thursday and Friday, for those wondering why, as I actually asked why at the help desk when I went there on Thursday:

Quite simply: apparently it wasn't delivered in time.

Shame though, I always buy some form of show merchandise when I attend a convention, and while it will be apparently be sold online for a short time after, it's just not the same...

Otherwise, apart from that, it was a really good convention (though very expensive to attend because I came by car) and was good to see faces both new and old to me. I really would like to try and display a few MOC's there next year if it comes back to London.

And, while the marketplace was pricey in general, there were a few bargain gems to be had if you rooted around enough. I don't think I spent quite as much there as I thought I would though!

I think it's a little harsh to say Technic was poorly represented, there were many displays that could not have functioned without a technic element. Plus tons of Mindstorms on offer which contains many technic elements.

Some of these automated fair rides would surely fall apart without a technic backbone

There was plenty of Technic functions involved in most of these GBC modules.

The Volvo was a slight disappointment for me, I really was sure I read somewhere it was going to be a L350 at the exhibition, turned out to be a baby L60G

But overall a great show, always good to support a new show, I just think they need to have an AFOL night, where they remove all the children, and just let the Adults in for a couple of hours, but lots to do, and not too many repeat models from STEAM which is always good.

Roll on 2015, it can only get bigger and better (well, there is a limit, it's already pretty big!)

I've uploaded some pictures of the Brick2014 event to my Flickr page

Here is a sample of my own stuff. Lots more pics circulating at this stage. To (sort of) keep the post on topic I can confirm that I use Technic elements in the mountain to bring two miners and the waterfall to life.
