SirNadroj Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 (edited) Hello again! So here is my latest castle: King's Keep. This is probably my 3rd or 4th version of the same castle. They all improved greatly. I made it look cartoonish by putting the turrents on angles. (Yes, I love cartoonish lego creations! :-D ) There is also a waterfall with a knight going over! Look out, swimming knight! :-D There is also some foliage. King's Keep: Village and Castle: Thanks for looking, and all feedback is greatly appreciated! Here's the MOC Page: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/35506 And don't forget to check out the village: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=10874 Edited August 15, 2007 by SirNadroj Quote
Timento Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Wonderful *wub* The drawbridge is nice, the moss on the keep is great looking... *y* *y* *y* The only thing I might change is the towers... a bit too angled for my taste. Quote
gylman Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Excellent. I lvoe it when we don't just stick to straight lines with Lego creations. Good colour choices too. And the combination of village and castle is A+ Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 Thanks everyone! I'm glad someone likes the turrents! ;-) Quote
gylman Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I don't know how you did the turrets, but if it is just a hinge with a tilt, maybe you can reduce the tilt, and then add some small arches underneath the turret that connect the wall to the base of the turret, so it looks less like an earthquake has knocked them off, and more like an intentional construction by a master architect. You don't have to fill the gap perfectly - just fill that empty space under the turret as much as possible. Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 I know what you mean, but I personally don't think it looks that bad. Maybe if I've got some time. Quote
iamded Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 The building in the middle is great, the foliage, statues, waterfall, landscape, all of it's fantastic. The only thing I don't greatly like are the towers, maybe it's too much of an angle, maybe it's just me. On a more positive note, replace the minifigs with Lego Worms armed with weapons, and it'll fit right in! :-D (Referring to Worms 4 here.) Quote
Sir Dillon Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I think this is a pretty cool creation, but the towers throw me off. I can understand what you're going for, but they still look bad to me. Perhaps if you were able to make the top platforms flat it would more like it was done on purpose? Right now they look like they're falling off. The tudor house in the back has a nice shape, but the tudor looks messed up. I believe the lines going down should go all the way down the house, (not just half) and should be at all the corners. Besides those things mentioned, I like this. The landscaping is pretty good, and I like all the greenery. Keep buildin'! *y* Quote
ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Awesome *y* ! I love the moss, the waterfall, the knight going over it... :-D I don't like the towers though. Maybe you could flare the bases of the towers, sort of like the Dancing House? Dancing House Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Yikes! Nobody likes the towers! :-( Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Great MOC and the towers are a good indication that shoddy builders existed before the 20th century. BTW I love the tudor looking house. Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Great MOC and the towers are a good indication that shoddy builders existed before the 20th century. Thanks, but whats that supposed to mean? :-D ;-) Quote
Wout Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I like the towers. It has some moving in it. A bit like that architecture in Prague. A bit like the old houses from Anton Pieck, who never stand right. (Anton Pieck: Dutch illustrator of many romantic and fairytale paintings, 1895-1987). I think it was a hell of a jobe to let the towers stand on their place. The rest of the castle is also nice. Like the swimmer and the boat :-D Quote
andy_0306uk Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Cool MOC Luv the turrets at quirky angles Luv the waterfall Luv all the minifigs/shileds/visors from set 375!!! They are so cool and so rare (missing 2 visors from mine - gutted) Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 What a great MOC Sir Nadroj! You seem like an expert on any theme... Wow! Very extroardinary. And that waterfall and falling guy, is really awesome and makes the MOC even better. Same thing goes for the castle-village combination. Keep up your brilliant work! Mr Tiber Quote
Lord Beckett Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Impressive, especially for a simple soldier like you :-D I love it and the scenery is wonderful. It makes you feel like being there. Keep up with the good work. *y* *y* Quote
zouave Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I *wub* the castle. But you should build the turrets into the castle walls. Also, whats with the house on the top? It just doesn't fit in. But otherwise *y* *y* *y* *y* *y* *y* *y* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Really nice SN. I love the little waterfall and the building design. My only complaint is the towers which I see others have commented about. They would look better straight. It's probably much easier to make these straight; and if they were, I would give this MOC a 10. I really like the size and the detail. Nice job! Quote
