Darth Legolas Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Does anyone have their own instructions on how to motorize 8041 Race Truck? I'm considering putting it on my list, but I'd only get it so I could put my motors and receiver to good use. Really would appreciate it! Thanks. Quote

Darth Legolas Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 http://www.brickinside.com/NeoView.php?Db=...mp;SortCrt=Desc Thanks! Looks really good! Just what I wanted it to do. Sad that you have to get rid of the engine though. I can use that for something else. Quick question: Do the wheels make a difference? It's traction, right? Thanks! Quote
mahjqa Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 The traction shouldn't be all that different. I believe the guy who made these instructions put different wheels on because the dimensions are a bit more realistic. Quote
sunsky Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hi, I did not notice my motorized 8041 was introduced here. Thank you mahjqa As mahjqa said, tire replacement was done only because I thought the original tire did not look like a truck tire. Quote

Thanks for writing those instructions! Does the steering reset itself like it seems to? Quote
tomacwhite Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I have just motorized my 8041 Race Truck. I borrowed some ideas for certain parts off of people which I will credit and talk about later when I do a proper update post. Briefly, I am using two M Motors for power. I tried an XL motor for the wheels as I thought the extra torque might help with the weight of the model, but with the current gearing setup the truck is rather slow. I will ask for some advice on gearing up the motor when I show you how I have mounted it (The V8 Lego engine is still in place). Pictures and update later. :) Quote
DLuders Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) [bUMP] As Mahjqa had noted above, sunsky/ sunmint1 had made Building Instructions to motorize the "Limited Edition -- Hard to Find" 8041 Race Truck (still available from Shop.Lego.com ). I have compiled his individual JPG images into a single, 6.7MB PDF file which you can download here from MegaUpload SkyDrive. His shows him driving the "LEGO 8041 truck...motorized with Power Functions remote control. This is a simple modification with less change in the chassis and overall shape." Read more about it on this Korean-to-English translation of his original BrickInside post. Edited February 20, 2012 by DLuders Quote

Richard Dower Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 i think the b model is the better option to motorise, the b is the better model overall. Quote
