puriri Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) Based off of M.C. Escher's work of the same name. Here's the official Escher website: http://www.mcescher.com/ And of course I should give credit for the illusion to this: http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/ascending.html Comments and criticism welcome. Admiral Ron Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I like it! It just goes to show what can be done with stressed bricks. When I first looked at it, I was thinking to myself "I dont get it". Then my brain turned on and I discovered the secret! anyways, Great work! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Excellent piece of designing and very clever too ! Great work 'puriri' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Very Cool! The only thing I would suggest is putting some more trees outside. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 It took me a while to figure it out. I like the pathway, very creative. Quote
Stiel Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Just a short critique: it would be harder to figure out if the bottom (inside the spiral) was not visible, just the walls. Quote
Artanis I Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Just a short critique: it would be harder to figure out if the bottom (inside the spiral) was not visible, just the walls. Agreed. You can see where it doesn't join. Quote
puriri Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Just a short critique: it would be harder to figure out if the bottom (inside the spiral) was not visible, just the walls. Yeah, I probably should have made it taller, but I didn't want to suffer the terrible "grey wall syndrome." And thanks guys for the feedback! Quote
Fires-storm Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Well done on this, my father owns his book and I love looking in it for inspiration, so this especially pleases me. Well done indeed mate, and keep bricking! Quote

puriri Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 From my understanding its not stressed bricks. Yeah. The trick is forced perspective, which might be what you meant. The part of the staircase in the back right is longer and behind that of the front and left. and doesn't actually connect. It's kind of like an "L" shape with a short part on the left. Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 That's great! Though it makes my brain hurt. Quote
