Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 (edited) I buy all the sets in europe, and there are the boxes with only the set number, but if i look at the reviews from america i see much more on the box, how many pieces, etc. And why is this? Here is a example: America: Europe: America: Europe: Just wondering, why is this? Edited October 25, 2008 by ???theriddler??? Quote
The Cobra Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I kind of remember it's something TLC has to do by law, and not making a box with written details was the reason the Castle advent calendar couldn't be sold in North America. But I might be wrong. Quote

Thats strange. Well Aus. doesn't have details or anything Quote
CopMike Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 It has to do with different rules & regulations on what information need to be shown for the customers. CopMike Quote

Captain Zuloo Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 It's because they new you Europeans couldn't comprehend all of the information so they made the box as basic as possible. Oh crap - they did that in Australia too! Quote

For some reason it's always us in the U.S. that have these weird laws. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I wish European boxes had the piece count on them. I remember some of them used to although in a local toy store near me they sometimes have foreign LEGO. Quote

Thanks CopMike, I always thought that the pieces count/ age suggestions etc. were for prelim pics. Quote
???theriddler??? Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Thanks everyone for the awnsers! I just want the piece count on the europe boxes! Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The boxes are also made of different cardboard depending on where you buy them, I know it’s a bit of a tangent but I think it’s slightly intresting. Quote
CP5670 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The boxes have been like this for a long time, at least up to the early 80s. I frequently used to buy sets from Europe some years ago and all the boxes lacked the set names or most other information, only including the age limit and the fine print legal trademark text. You could always tell the difference between a US/Canada set and a UK/European one this way. Some other countries also have the full information shown. I have a handful of sets from Japan and South Korea and those boxes show the piece counts and what appear to be set names (although I can't read them). Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I noticed this also when I received the 7992 Container Stacker last week. No piece count or name of product on the box and I got it from SAH (U.S.) Quote
Darth_Legois Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Thats strange.Well Aus. doesn't have details or anything Dont know where your buying your LEGO then I know not all of them have it but ive seen lots of sets [Not with that much detail] but they have the set number, number of pieces & name. Like I said not all of them though. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The Hoth Rebel Base and Sith Infiltrator that I got a few weeks ago off of U.S. S@H both didn't have the piece count on them which I thought was interesting. Perhaps they came from a European warehouse? Quote
