DLuders Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) The 5119 Micromotor (2986 on Peeron, and 70823 in TLG) is used in the 8480 Space Shuttle set. From Brickfactory.info , here is a picture of it being used in the alternate (submarine) model. There is an old-style 2x2 electric plate attached to the 5306b "Electric, Wire with Brick 2 x 2 x 2/3 Pair" cable that clips onto the backside of the 9V Micromotor: Edited May 13, 2011 by DLuders Quote
Lego Otaku Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 The micro motor has extremely low RPM and it can't handle heavy work because the pully knob pops off the motor very easily. There are many uses for this but not as a heavy crane or for moving vehicle. I have 2 working motors both from 6979 (UFO series Interstellar Starfighter) along with the lighted parts. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Ah well my harvester uses two of them but the way i did it is not to have the micro moter direct to the shft.I used gears to link to the moter this stoping the popping off. Quote
olaf9198 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) thanks Alasdair Ryan Lego Otaku and DLuders and an other question how fast do hy gos. Even fast as a xl motor or faster and how i must gear that Edited May 14, 2011 by olaf9198 Quote
allanp Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Very slow, much slower than the XL motor. According to http://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm (great resourse!) the motor turns at 35 rpm, compared to 220 rpm of the XL motor. Now I hate that the PF motors have any sort of gearing down inside them. I really want to do that myself which is why I often still use the old ungeared 9v motor. However the micro motor is the exception as about 1 turn every 2 seconds is actually a very appropriate speed for this motor considering. Quote
DLuders Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 [bUMP] On his Flickr photostream, The Scooter Guy posted these two pictures about "LEGO Micro Motors --- The transparent one seems to be very rare. Anyone have a transparent Micro Motor?" Quote
allanp Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 This seems relevant: http://technicbricks.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Prototypes Quote
CP5670 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Yeah, the clear one is a test mold. It didn't appear in any set. I have 9 of these motors, of which 3 are broken. The unusual gear reduction mechanism it uses is very prone to locking up. It doesn't seem to be easy to fix it without damaging the motor casing. Quote
