[MOD/MOC] 42037 Desert Buggy

Howdy! I bought technic set 42037 and thought what to do with it... A model looked little bit like tractor and B model looked plain awful. And I had painful need to build a buggy, so said and done. Few "junkyard" loose parts + modding and there she is: a rear engined desert buggy.

The chassis is little streched and modded, nearly same as A model chassis but engine is in between rear suspension inline four cylinder. Hand of God steering is now controlled at front of the car. Rear suspension is little bit modded to give extra room for engine, which pistons are working, of course. Paneling went a little ghetto style because rear end is red (lacking of other color extra panels/beams). Driver seat is much more towards front end. More little details and close ups ------->

I tried to think out of the box and create something different. Comments and critics are most welcome. And of course improvment tips also

PS. This is not a C model because there are lots of extra parts used (some of original parts unused).

nice but you should made the caster angle of the front steering positive not negative, it wil turn much better

Oh yes, now I understand what you mean. Like this?

My creation is mainly for display but that's very good improvement so maybe I'll do it...

It was really easy change for the front suspension because the frame has two "layers" of beams and each side of suspension has four point connection so I just changed it to two point connection and got it angled

are the front suspention arms good for RC stearing?

now i have the ones of the 2014 snowmobile but they move a lot

Yes that's radical but it's the lightest possible positive caster with that frame and that front suspension. For smaller positive caster one must rebuild frame and/or front suspension and because this is display model and I like the looks I think i'll keep it that way Next setup is even more positive caster or back to negative... That what you see is just one click/stud believe or not These suspension arms are stiffer than that snowmobile arm but I dont know if they are good for RC steering, no experience of that all...

Edit: I understand that you've got me wrong in my previous message: I said four point connection meaning it's connected with four of these http://brickset.com/parts/4121715 and removing two of them gave me opportunity move caster one stud to positive direction and it's that what you see in picture.

ok but you sead 2 studs so i thougth you could do a 1 stud movement but that is what you did.

Yes, it was kind of my bad, explained that quite badly. I should have send pictures right away but better later than never... That's what I tried to say:

Now it's time for final version and that awful color scheme is finally gone Some body changes happened too and those mighty 42039 wheels with 81.6x38R tires are now under that buggy

I'm happy with end result, always do changes and rechanges, that have I learned

Thanks! I tried to make my best because this is my first "half moc". I just love the looks of those rims although now the 81.6x38R tyre rubber will be permanently unusable with original rims because of extreme streching. But they are from tyre/wheel set which I bought from BL and they were already used and really cheap, so no worries :)
