Adam Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) Finally, it is FINISHED! I apologize for being late, but I've been busy today. Now, this set was $40.99 at TRU, which means that it is $40.00 everywhere else. Now, on to the review! (This is my first review, so try not to complain too much ) Note: I realize that my... early post was annoying to some users, and I apologize for that. Asuka and others, thank you for the notification on that point. You can access the review at http://www.freewebs.com/chipsnfish/agentsspeedboatrescue.htm. Alright, since this is my first review, I want some advice! Edited June 1, 2008 by Adam Quote
Asuka Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Oh, just another advance notice.... Thank you, Deino.... Na, seriously, that´s a free world blabla but this new habit around the board already starts to get a little annoying.... At least I would like to spend my time on something a little more refreshening than to click on topics just for nada. Sorry Adam, it´s not personal at all. Quote

Nah, I'm not trying to-i don't know, call dibs or something, it's just that I want people to know that there will be a review. I mean, it's been what, a week and a half since the first Agents review and you'd think that a review would already be up. I was going to say "Coming soon" or something in the title, but I'm new to these boards and have no idea how to edit the title after a post. What if I got the review up and the title still said "Coming soon"? Quote
Asuka Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Nah, I'm not trying to-i don't know, call dibs or something, it's just that I want people to know that there will be a review. No problem, Adam. But, and this goes to Deinonychus and all others who recently tend to do so as well, it is very nice of you that you´re gonna make a review, and I´m graceful for this, really.... but, um, well.... I already know that there´ll be a review of that set, here on EB, sooner or later.... I rely on the amicability of the LEGO universe and the AFOLship with firm confidence. EDIT: Now.... don´t waste your time here with me.... go ahead! Quote
hollisbrick Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 ...Coming soon! Alright, I just picked the set up at TRU for $41.99, even though I know that it's up on Shop @ Home for $40.00. Since I don't know how many reviews of this will be swarming the site by the time I post mine, I just want you all to know that I'll have one up ASAP (tommorow afternoon). Is it at S@H ? Link some one please? Anyway thanks for doing a review or well, about to do one Quote
Adam Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Is it at S@H ? Link some one please? Anyway thanks for doing a review or well, about to do one Here you go: http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=8633&L...7&ShipTo=US Just copy and paste that and you'll end up with the page for Speedboat Rescue. If the link doesn't work, type "agents" into the search bar on lego.com or just look in the Exclusive and Hard to Find Items section. Quote

Mirandir Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 It seems like its only available in US and Canada right now. I guess we Europeans will have to wait for it a while longer. :( Quote
Scyzoryk Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Oh my god, how could've I missed this topic. I'll put it in the index right away. Anyways, Hurry Up! I wanna see those sharks! Quote
cartoondude Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Thanks for the review! The sharks are awesome and could be good for some Jaws MOCs :skull: Those pieces you thought were new, the gray ones are doors from city plains. Once agian thanks for the awesome revew. Quote

Excellent idea on the Jaws MOCs ! I didn't think of that. Anyway, thank you for the compliment on my review and information about the gray pieces. Quote
Asuka Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Thanks for the review, Adam. Hmm.... an interesting set. The buoy looks pretty neat and works great as a setup for our chained up agent Trace, I never would´ve though that TLC would use such a cool and trashy subject for it´s story line, but well, I guess they already did it with the new Castle line.... And although that little jet ski thingy looks really very simple it´s a welcomed addition and a nifty idea nevertheless. Ah well, that speedboat.... I really like it´s catamaran-like appearance, and to equip it with a sub´s very fine, and the rocket, the net launcher and the grappling hook make up a good variety of equipment and weaponry. However.... I think they´ve fairly overdone it with the stickers, and it seems like there´re no controls once the sub´s gone. A second cockpit-like structure would´ve increased the playability for sure. For me it´s the perhaps weakest main vehicle of that line till now. The set, as a whole, is still fine. And the sharks´re simply superb. First they´ll grill you, and then they´ll chew you with pleasure.... Quote
Svelte Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the review! The speedboat is nice and the tower is great too. I love that in some ways 'Agents' is almost an 'evil' version of the new Coastguard sets I love the sharks - I've never had a Lego shark before and the way they can almost (but not quite) eat a minifig is superb. The teeth also make a very satisfying clickety-clacking noise as they snap shut! (Sorry - I couldn't resist ) Edited June 2, 2008 by svelte_corps Quote
Scyzoryk Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Wow! Awesome review! I that harpoon! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! The sharks = These new sharks are wwwwaaaayyyyy better then the old ones for sure. No wait, 100x better. One problem though, I see you misplaced the stickers where the harpoon and the net cannon/missle thingy are. Look closely at the stickers. One says "Spare Harpoon" and the other says "Net Storage". A little switching of those 2 stickers wont hurt. Quote
Batbrick Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the review, a good set. I'm not quite sold on the speedboat yet, but the bouy and sharks are simply superb, so this set is a must for me Batbrick Away! Edited June 2, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
The Brick Rat Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I love the sharks - I've never had a Lego shark before and the way they can almost (but not quite) eat a minifig is superb. Actually, if you raise the minifigs arms so his hands are next to his head, he'll slide right down into the belly of the beast. Quote
Svelte Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Actually, if you raise the minifigs arms so his hands are next to his head, he'll slide right down into the belly of the beast. Aahhhh.... I hadn't tried that, thanks for the tip! Instead I just dismembered the minifig and stuffed the components inside... so when the shark opens its mouth, a head falls out etc. Quote
legomilk Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) Hello, nice thing that you have there, but what I want is the number from the instructionbook what mostly stands on the backside. Thanks already. Edited June 2, 2008 by legomilk Quote

Luckily, I didn't have to change both stickers, all I had to do was switch the pieces since they are exactly the same . Thank you for alerting me to that ! Hello, nice thing that you have there, but what I want is the number from the instructionbook what mostly stands on the backside. Thanks already. What number are you talking about? Because I have no idea . Do you mean that number on the "license plates" of Turbo Car Chase (8634) and Mobile Command Center (8635)? If so, this set does not have it and niether does Jetpack Pursuit for that matter. Edited June 2, 2008 by Adam Quote
Algernon Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) I was interested in the speedboat until I saw how it was attached to the sub. Seriously LEGO. Design > gimmick. I'll still get the gold hunt and command center, though. Edited June 4, 2008 by Algernon Quote
AwesomeStar Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I will be doing a review of Speedboat and Volcano Be tomorrow. Hope you will enjoy it as it will be my first ever reviews. Quote
