Only hours after the arrival in Westface of the HMS Nimble, another vessel pulls into view. This time, however, the gunners are more confident, laying their guns with great care, as certainly, this must be a corsair. After the recent disappointment, perhaps now their thirst for action can be sated? The gunners are only to some degree to be disappointed, as the vessel, although not a target, is indeed a former (and by name present) corsair. The HMS Corsair is a xebec-frigate taken from corsairs off Guelph by Corlander cruisers. Her sailing qualities were such that she was purchased into the service. She carries 14 9-pounders, and while that armament is light for a frigate, she makes up for it in maneuverability. The large lateen combined with square sails (known as a polacre-rig) makes her an excellent sea boat, particularly close to the wind, allowing her to eat the wind out of any square rigger. In a calm, her light construction allows the effective use of sweeps, long oars deployed through ports designed for the specific purpose. She too is to join the squadron under Captain Cooke, to combat the pirates that has scoured the seas and attacked Corlander interests in the Brick Seas. ' A class 5 polacre-xebec for the Royal Navy.

Not much to say, playing around with Stud.io hull shapes and rigging techniques. Thought I'd make some progress on the Shipping Nabob title. I probably enjoyed building the beakhead the most. The thin slopes and inverted front are simple yet sophisticated (perfect for a Xebec!) I like how the rigging turned out, though it took way too long. I think I got the hang of it (mostly). Already working on the next one! Stern... nothing fancy, but I like how trim she is. Final shot, let me know what you think!

[GoC - Ship] Class 5 Xebec "Sternidae" Sailing from the Corrington mainland, the xebec "Sternidae" is welcomed into the bustling port of Quinnsville. Class 6 Large Exploration Xebec, "Albatross" From the Quinnsville shipyards comes yet another ship! A large Xebec, out-fitted for a long exploration journey or a long profitable trade run. Large Xebec 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr As the big brother to the recent merchant xebec launched from the shipyards, this one consists of two decks. It also features eights gun, but these have been upgraded to 8-pounders. Large Xebec 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr It has a boat stored on the deck for beach landings as well. Class 4 Merchant Xebec, "Pelican" Next out of the Quinnsville Shipyards is a small, lightly armed, Merchant Xebec. Xebec 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Xebec 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Not built for combat or super long voyages, it is lightly armed with only eight 4 pounders for protection. It's lack of cannon though, means it has plenty of cargo space for a sizeable haul of goods. Hi, I based this ship off the fictional whaling ship "Essex" from the movie "In the Heart of the Sea" and the "Colour of the Wind" by Legostone https://www.flickr.com/photos/legostone/. The colour scheme and the fact that the ship is a whaler were based of the "Essex" but the ship itself is based off the "Colour of the Wind". Xebecs were ships used pretty much only in the Mediterranean as either pirate or trading ships and there are no examples of them being used as whaling ships meaning that this ship is slightly unrealistic. [ESL - FB - Class 5LA] The Purple Reign - A fast answer

Last month, Mardier vessels blockaded the ports of Elysabethtown, Trador and Fuerto Unido. Lord Maximilian Damaximus and with him, Eslandola, had to answer fast. He bought the rights of the Siren's Song, captured by Quinnsville, repainted her and quickly she quild sail to Isla de la Victoria. With her, 20 soldiers ready to fight for Eslandola. Some Corrington people may say Eslandolan Trade Companies only have ill-trained mercenaries, but this was not the case for MAESTRO. These were not just mercanaries, they are well-disciplined, excellent trained soldiers. Puny Corringtonlanders funding the Mardierian forces... Captain of the vessel is Captain Matt Lenoir. After succesfully commanding the Purple Rain for more than a year, he has now command over the Purple Reign. The 20 soldiers will be lead by Corporal Brickwall Princeton, who was eager to take revenge after the death of his good friend Brickwall Jackson... Some soldiers: Thanks for watching! She will be licenced as a class 5LA. Those who think there are a lot of similarities between this vessel and the Purple Rain: yes there are, but if you take a closer look, you will see I almost started from scratch again :p -
After I heard that there was an offer going on with over 100 DBs for giving a warship to the Eslandolan crown, I knew I couldn't pass that offer. So I ordered this Xebec Frigate, something that is rarely seen in these waters and should be able to deal with these darn pirates that have been pestering our convoys! It has a total of 20 guns on the broadside, a giant crew to man them all, as well as another pair of bowchasers. The big latin sails allow it to keep up with pretty much any ship, and allow it to hunt down basically any pirate ship that gets close to it. Here you can see one entire broadside armed; you see how many men I need to fire these guns! Have I already mentioned that I love how her back looks? To really appreciate the lines of this ship, you better be a bird. _______________ Well, this one was a somewhat rushed build. I started building it two weeks ago and just finished it earlier today. While the rigging may not look to special, it is fully modular (a mast can be removed/placed in under a minute), which was really helpful after taking the first few pictures as I fell over it and knocked down its main mast. Once the new shiptypes are out I might revisit this one, I think there would be enough space to fit 1 or 2 pairs of carronades onto the poopdeck... This ship will go straight to Eslandola.

My shipyards have been busy - Green Winds a week ago wasn't the last ship they would build either way. While I was glad how fast Green Winds was, the beauty of Schooners never really hit me, and many others have suggested me to give my shipyards the order to build a Xebec - they are supposedly great ships, both for trade and for travel; for war and defence we have other ships. As I suspected that a Xebec should be able to keep up with Green Winds, I ordered my shipbuilders to paint her in the same colours. They succeeded in both ways - she seems to fit well with the colours of Green Winds; and considering how well she plays with the wind I have decided to name her Colour of the Wind. Lets go around her in our small boat and look: We start on the Port side: Go to the Stern: Around to the Starboard side: And finish our tour around looking at the bow: So, after we checked her out while she's still standing here, lets look at her next to Green Winds - well, lets say let a bird look at them next to each other: As you can see she's only a little bit shorter than Green Winds; as well as that she is a lot sleeker, so she should be more than equal in speed. ______ So, a quick overview over the facts: time spent building - no stopwatch running, started 1 1/2 days ago 4 longguns Captain Lum Liddle Owner Jerome Monezterrell(me) Build by Monezterrell' Shipyards (might be at some point in the future) Tradecompany MAESTRO crew: 10 men Rating: class 5F ______ sorry about the picture quality, the weather is bad and they just didn't come out any better. The 4A Defender of Bastion was sent to be used in New Oleon, since the vessel couldn't even handle two smaller vessels. A suitable replacement vessel has come to fulfill role fresh from Rogian Sea along with a diverse crew featuring natives from the New Oleon region. No need to worry about their loyalties; they are all loyal to the king and gods. The deck stayed studly mainly because I did not want to attempt too many advanced techniques with this type of vessel. The decks, stern, bow, and masts were hard enough to make sturdy. I don't have large enough material for large, lateen sails. I did find an art supply store that may have sail material I would like to use available in rolls. I just haven't had the opportunity. I had used this large image for reference.

Hello All! The Lady Jacqueline started as my attempt at a free license ship for the MRCA. As you can see I got just a little carried away with the size thing. I have made two versions, below is my Corrington version, the other, slight more medieval version can be seen on flickr. Based on the CGH pre-fab hull method, and heavily influenced by Napoleon's French Xebec. I feel she'd be around a Class 5F, but happy to hear other opinions/suggestions (I'd have probably originally said 4F, but there is no such class! and I believe she definitely deserves the 'F' designation!). I will license her when I have the appropriate funds, which probably won't be for a couple of months. The below table is for indexing purposes. Type of Ship: Xebec Class: 5F Licensed: Not yet (I need slightly more funds!) Yes! Master: Matthew Sawkins Owner: Dirk Allcock The Lady Jacqueline is the vessel that Captain Dirk Allcock purchased for his expedition to the new world. A Xebec, she is manoeuvrable and very fast. She is Captained by Matthew Sawkins, an experienced former Naval Captain. Her armament consists of four cannons (2 are currently stored below) and together with small arms and a detachment of 3 Royal Marines led by an experienced Sergeant. The weapons stored at the entrance to the cabin may seem a bit medieval, but the Marine Sergeant assures all who query that they prove their worth in close combat boardings.

Looking out his window, Lord Maximilian Damaximus saw the "Margot" in front of the bay of Stedor. Fully equiped with 55 guns. Although they still are working on the rigging, he couldn't wait until she was seaworthy. He sighed, last month trade run was terrible. The "Knight of Stedor" had to return to it's first port, the "Appleseed" sunk and the "Sulky Harlequin" made only 98 db's profit (divided by 10 shareholders, that was almost nothing). If he ever wanted to get a licence for "Margot", it would take ages at the current revenues. Although the "Sulky Harlequin" made a terrible run, the way CSC licenced her was an example of innovation. And Maximilian was sure the odds will change the upcomming trade run! Time to do some business with the Corringtonlalanders. At the Stedorian Quays, the "Purple Rain" was packing some tradegoods. A decent fast and well-armed ship, ready to rock'n roll! -------------------------------- Captain Matt Lenoir was looking over the stern to Stedor. His new ship the "Purple Rain" just set sail to Terelli. He loved Stedor, the white harbor, the vibrant atmosphere, the dangerously looking fortress and especially the Governal Palace on the mountain, watching over the Bay. He looked to the Licence in his hands and smiled. Finally he had a decent ship under his command! Lord Maximilian Damaximus gave him even 2 Elite Guards to protect the ship. And as it is a joint-venture with some Corrington investors, two Corrington soldiers are on board as well. Ibn al'Sayeed, merchant, Corrington. Shrewd in all matters mercantile, al'Sayeed is a well known trader in most of the ports and markets of the old world. As the new world is opening up, he has decided to expand his area of operations to take his part in the riches it promises. So far an independent merchant, he is considering joining a trade company, should the right offer be presented him. His crew consists of the Papadopoulos brothers, Stephanos and Arcenio. They are strong and fully able seamen, and have more than once fended off raiders trying to appropriate al'Sayeed's cargo. Little is known of them, though, as they tend to stick to themselves, mainly convering in a gruff,exotic language known to few. Some have speculated that it might be their native tongue, but so far, few has recognised it. The Sphinx, Xebec, Class 2 fast His ship is the Sphinx, a swift and maneuverable xebec with a reasonable cargo hold. Al'Sayeed tends to supplement the capacity by carrying extra cargo on deck, as it all adds to the profit margins. Rigged with large lateens on the two masts, the Sphinx excels at going near the wind, often enabling her escape from much larger, square-rigged enemies. (or custom's patrols...) The lateens give a big sail area for a small vessel, while still being easy for a few men to handle. In stable weather, one skilled hand can take her through a tacking into the wind. She is armed with four 4 pounder guns, but due to the cost of gunpowder, they are rarely fired. Al'Sayeed prefers to flee rather than fight. Not that he is a coward - it is simply better business not to have one's ship and precious cargo damaged in battle. (or, in the case of official patrols.... it is better business not having the more... exotic contains of the cargo holds confiscated by customs... ) ______________________________________________________________________________________________ This will be my first ship for the MRCA, and I am planning to rate her a class two fast. Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Since this project is still in its infancy, I find it important to debate and establish the baselines for the different classes. Compared to some of the other class two vessel here, she may be on the small side, but I think that goes well with the "fast" designation. Further, I feel there is room for a class between vessels like this, and the class 0 rowboats and canoes. And we shouldn't make these class two vessels too large - then we will have problems when we get to the higher classes! I am not saying the other class two vessels should be reclassified, but basically asking if this is within the "creative license" of what the admins had envisioned for class 2. Any other feedback is, as always, welcome as well! I went throught several iterations and techniques for hulls, before coming up with this one, which I am quite happy with. I knew I wanted a ship of approximately this size, but no matter whether I used prefab bow pieces (6 wide), arches, or slopes, could I find a technique I liked. After roaming the interwebs for a bit, and experimenting even more, I finally came up with this. Will be looking forward to hearing your input. I will register this as a freebuild, but await a debate on the class before I register it as a vessel for my free license.

LDD/MLCad 14D Greetings, my dear colleagues! This bright Christmas time the only way I can congratulate you is to delight your eyes and romanticize your minds with this graceful ship. I decided to dedicate this ship to my good friend Kolonialbeamter - his support and warm responses to my ships are essential for my creativity. So there is a xebec - every person who has ever interested in maritime history was certainly fascinated by the grace of this light and dangerous ship. I used quite tiny scale, so there are only 10 cannons, but I am sure that little sea predator with unique abilities for close-hauled sailing can be incredibly dangerous, even for large vessels. This is my second xebec project and not the last for sure. LDD/MLCad 15A Good evening, dear colleagues. For the beginning I would like to apologize for any possible sense of deja vu. It just so happened that xebecs captured my imagination. Their graceful forms, lightness, excellent seakeeping... and extreme danger for almost any ship! Even my computer opposed and stopped doing renderings, but I asked my friend for help, and now you can contemplate this ship in all its beauty. Brick built sails still play a role of fabric, which is not present in the program. Everything else is attached and can be constructed in real bricks. God give me strength to choose a ship that will be built in reality - when the time will come. Incidentally, this is the first ship in which I finally managed to use a sausage! I wonder whether you can find it And a little raw picture - two sisters together. Perhaps I should apologize again - my next ship will be a... xebec. Again. It will be the last ship of this type - it's definitely time to move on. Thank you for your attention
