  1. I absolutely love all the orcs from the LotR and Hobbit line. They are so detailed and I feel like they look so much better than the Fantasy Era trolls. Heck, they even look better than the more recent CMF goblin IMO. With that said, I was wondering what orc is everyone else favorite? Why is that particular orc your favorite? Is it your favorite from the movie, because Lego did the best job representing them, because the orc just looks amazing, or what? If it is an orc that has different versions, like the Mordor Orcs with and without hair, or the Gundabad Orcs with different face paint, which one of that particular type is your favorite?
  2. Hey everyone! I'm really excited to share my very first Lego stop motion animation with you. I spent about 2 weeks on the project as a whole, and I must say it was a lot harder than I expected. This first animation is only 12 fps, but I'm hoping to bump it up to 24 fps next time around. Any and all feedback would be great!
  3. Here's my Uruk-Hai army. It's just one group of minifigures but shown in two shots. I'm not a purist, so you'll see some custom parts such as some BrickWarriors helmets and BrickArms pole arms. Saruman wanted his army back, but I told him to #~@I< off! http://www.brickshel...y_-_montage.jpg And here's my Uruk general and champion: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/uruk_general_and_champion_-_cropped.jpg

    Damaged Armor?

Recently I order about 16 extra Uruk-hai off of BrickLink. After receiving my order I noticed all the armored chest plates all had a funky mark in them. I am not entirely sure what it is.. a defect in the mold, a stress mark, or something else? At first I was a little concerned I might of gotten a bad lot off BrickLink so I decided to turn to Lego's store and order replacement chest pieces. Well, after getting my order from them today I noticed they have the SAME mark on every one of the "replacement" chest pieces! I would think this is how they are meant to be made if not for the fact NONE of my older Uruk-hai chest pieces (around ~80) don't have the marking at all. I s this a newer mold making this mark? Is it because it's being shipped in the cold? Does anyone have any idea what's causing it? I find it odd it's only in the one spot on every chest piece and literally every one has the mark where as none of my older Uruk-hai did. Below are two pictures for comparison (sorry for the poor quality, was taken with my phone), the first are the good chest plates with no mark, the second chest is one of the werid distress mark ones.

  6. Hello! I would like to present you my uruk-hai army. I plan to build an army of 100 uruk-hai, divided into different units like swordsmen, pikemen, crossbow-men, sappers, berserkers, captains, standard-bearers and general. First unit is "Uruk-hai Swordsmen". I have 10 figs now, the planned number of swordsmen is 25. I´m still waiting for the pieces from one BL store, so please, be patient, until I´ll show you the next unit (or should I use the "troop"? :)).

    Uruk-Hai Army Changes

A couple weeks ago I placed an order for the last six Uruk-hai Army sets I wanted. They have been sitting around for awhile so today I finally decided to open them all and build them. After doing so I noticed there seem to be a few changes with this set. Most notable was the change to Eomer's legs. Here is a comparison of the old (left) to the new ones (right): As you can see the old one had a brown belt/sash and a very dark red, almost brown colored part hanging down on front. Now the sash is all one red color and matches the torso's red almost identically. At first I thought maybe this was a misprint, but I checked and all six of my newer Uruk-hai Army sets have the same bright red sash as opposed to the brown one before. All my old ones (all 14) have the same brown so that wasn't a misprint either. It seems Lego decided to change the coloring a bit... Personally I have mixed feeling about this. While I think the new colors work much better with the Eomer torso, I feel like it doesn't really work with the Rohan soldier torso anymore: As you can see the red really stands out now and doesn't really work with the Rohan soldier's body like the old legs did. This seems to be a double edged sword. We get a better looking Eomer configuration, but no more mixing and matching Eomer/Rohan torsos and legs now when making them all look like basic grunts. What do you guys think? Do you like the new colors mode or no? Also, there seems to be a change with the head pegs. For anyone who remembers my thread back in July, the head stud change seems to be effecting more figures than just the Uruk-hai in the LotR line now: Doesn't look much different at first... but then.... BAM! Every single one of the flesh colored figures I have gotten up to this point had the filled stud design but now my Eomers (all six of them) have the 3 bar design seen on the left. Oddly enough the Rohan Soldiers all still had the same filled stud design seen on the right. Personally I hate the older 3 bar design because I don't feel like it looks as sturdy or good as the solid design. I hate it so much in fact I have used Bricklink to replace every 3 bar studded head I have gotten in the LotR line. I know, extremely OCD, but it bugs me all the same. Back on topic this doesn't seem to be a specific change to new sets, it just seems to be affecting more figures than just the Uruk-hai now. Apparently the filled design is newer and comes from new machines while the 3 bar is from older machines. I assume in a few more years the 3 bar stud design will be totally phased out. I just found it odd NONE of the flesh colored figures had the 3 bar design on their heads but now we are starting to see it out of the blue. Btw, sorry for the poor pictures, they were taken with my phone
