  2. Hello everyone. I am a newbie here and this is my first LEGO post ever! I am very excited. I am a big Lego Technic aircraft fan so when I see TC15, i jump to the opportunity. I am trying to make a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk and I hope you like my progress so far. It started in early 2017 as a modification project to expend Lego helicopter set 9396 dimensions. I wanted to sit two Lego Technic minifigures comfortably inside the helicopter cockpit and to make the 9696 mail rotor assembly look less bulky and exaggerated in relation to the helicopter fuselage. The project sat on the shelf without much progress for over a year. Mockup One 2018.10.20 by Chia En Lin, 於 Flickr The 9396 MOD project somehow evolved and morphed into a UH-60 Black Hawk look-a-like project. This is the photo of UH-60 mockup build. Mockup Two 2018.10.30. by Chia En Lin, 於 Flickr I am about 75% completed with this project (i hope). This is what i have so far: PF motor and battery box mounted and working. Collective and cyclic pitch control for the main rotor is working and reasonably stable. Tilted tail rotor is working but not satisfactory. Tail stabilizer is not working, or rather have not been worked on yet. I apologize for the poor quality photos. I will take some proper photos when i have time. DSC_0039 by Chia En Lin, 於 Flickr I see jwarner is also working on a S-70. jwarner's gear box is awesome! My collective and cyclic pitch control is nowhere near jwarner's design. jwarner keep it up, we all look forward to seeing you completing your S-70. Cheers.
  3. Hey guys, here's my submission for the TC15 contest. I know I came in pretty late as it's been over a month now since the contest started, but I've been busy for the past few months and only recently found some time to build. My TC15 submission will be a model of the Sikorsky S-64, which I actually thought of building back in 2017 but later abandoned. I actually had a rotor setup ready back when I planned on building this, so fortunately I'm sorta able to "pick up where I left off". I plan on including a simple battery box/motor setup, where the motor powers the rotors at all times and a winch with the engagement of a directional gearbox. It will also include HoG steering, which will allow better control of the helicopter when rolling it around. I don't anticipate this being a very difficult project, and I can see myself finishing this easily in 2-3 weeks. I will have to order some orange parts (as this model will need lots of orange ofc), but other than that everything should come pretty easily. The only difficult parts I see are getting all the functions inside a tight space and making sure the helicopter has plenty of structural integrity. So far I'm about halfway done with the cockpit section. I still need to add an interior and some more orange pieces, and then it's on to the nitty gritty stuff. Photos:
  4. It seems about time for me to get into the TC15 spirit. I've been building up a storm in my dorm room every chance I've had when I haven't been studying, and it seems about time I share my progress. I noticed that there are notably few helicopters so far, I think just steph's Chinook and Eric's Skycrane. So I decided to join the fray, and I'm going big on this one, the Sikorsky S-70C Firehawk, the cousin of the military Blackhawk. Unlike the blackhawk though, this one comes in pretty colors: Sikorsky S-70C - N2FH FireHawk by Christopher Ebdon, on Flickr I want my model to focus on playability, so I plan on making the swashplate RC controlled with PF. I also wanted to use as few motors as possible, so here's what I'm planning: 1 L motor - rotor blade rotation 1 M motor (or L motor if needed) - swashplate control 1 Servo motor - switch between collective, left/right cyclic and forward/backward cyclic So few motors means that the gearbox is naturally a beast, so it will likely be taking up the entire rear of the helicopter. Waiting on a few more parts to arrive before I share what I've concocted on that front. In the meantime, here's what I've been working on: Sikorsky S70-C Firehawk - WIP by jwarner1718, on Flickr I apologize ahead of time for the wild colors and stickers, my selection of panels is pretty slim so I'll be playing 'rainbow warrior' for a while until I have most of the design down. Easier to order everything at once right? Sikorsky S70-C Firehwak - WIP by jwarner1718, on Flickr Both cyclic sticks are synchronized using a few linkages. They will not be linked up to the swashplate movement, something I had debated for a long time, but decided that with the route I had taken with the gearbox it just wasn't feasible to fit it in. I guess this makes a fair consolation prize though. Sikorsky S-70C Firehawk - WIP by jwarner1718, on Flickr The battery box sits behind the pilot seats, and the fake collective lever acts as a pin that can be removed to slide it out. I'm really excited for this contest, hoping to finish in time and that I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. If I don't make it before the contest though I'm definitely finishing this one. Cheers, Jonathan
  5. Sikorsky HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant. Model features highly detailed cockpit and interior, rotating main and tail rotors with adustable blade pitch, main rotor moves in 2 axis, folding main rotor blades and tail boom, opening crew door and rear ramp, and retractable landing gear. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/408531 HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant
