  1. Hellion Greybeard was a clever man. He knew that Hellion couldn't import forever. And so he invested some Doubloons in a small Pig Farm. The farmers here knew how to take good care of the pigs, and with luck, they might just be delicious. Free small Artisan to be licenced in Hellion.
  2. The first big ship built by Greybeard, a Ketch, was given a strong name, Treasure of Poseidon, to help her on her voyages. A swift, strong raider-and-trader, the Treasure of Poseidon was built wide and sturdy to allow her to stand her own against ships much bigger than herself. She is armed with 12 12-pounders, viz, 10 on the gundeck, and 2 as stern chasers. Her sails were large to provide manoeuvrability and speed. The crew works unceasingly to make this ship as efficient as possible. The blunt, cat built bow is designed to provide minimal drag and has a small figurehead.
  3. There are many who would come to Raider's Haven, but only the greatest will pass the rigorous tests. The crew of Sea Wench has been preparing, and a recruitment drive is also taking place for several much larger ships being constructed while Sean explores Raider's Haven. The few who passed the test are preparing for the voyage. A motley crew if ever there was one. There is much to be decided. Cannon is to be supplied, and drinks, and food. Here the doctor has provided a large amount of carrots and bananas as he is a pioneer of a new theory that eating fruit will stop the development of scurvy. Sean, however believes a healthy crew needs a lot of rum. First of course, a catalogue of the crew is needed: Sean Greybeard, Captain Jon Davis, Cook Thomas Palin, Marine Henry Holmes, Captain's Accountant John Friedrich, Pilot (Sets the Course) Madame Loue, Clairvoyant Alexandro de Serifio, Doctor Oliver Parsons, Marine 'Red' Ronnie, Bosun ' Creed', First Lieutenant Abu Ca'pri, Rating Jim Caspers, Marine And thus the crew was catalogued. It is this crew that will embark on a voyage of discovery, both for its Captain and in the name of the Sea Rats.

I met many and different sea rats here, and to each and every one of them I blackened Greybeard's name. They will tell their friends and theirs too, and soon Greybeard will be lonely. To each he told a different story. Yes, Master would be pleased. With no allies to come to his aid, it would be easy to remove Greybeard. OOC Just part 3.in addition, more of the background will be revealed at the end of challenge three.

Sean looked across Tortuga's Docks, and noticed a man running towards him. The man was bald, dressed in ragged clothes, and he ran up to Sean. ' Excuse me, but are you Sean 'Greybeard ' Fortescue ? ' The man asked. His voice gave impressions of him being a corlander, but no - one knew much about each other in Tortuga. ' Yes' Said Sean. 'What message do you bring?' 'Sean' The messager spoke. 'Your father, Henry Jonathan Fortescue, has been violently murdered.' Sean Gritted his teeth. Dick had got there first. Father had made many enemies in his time, but he hadn't expected it from his own son. Sean's cook, Legless Bill, approached him. ' What are you going to do?' He asked. ' I will go to see Madame Loue.' said Sean. 'Madame Who?' asked the confused cook. 'Madame Loue. The clairvoyant. Sees the future. So they say, at least.' Sean explained. 'Where's she to be found, captain?' Asked the cook, still none the wiser. 'Oh, the nearest pub.' replied Sean half heartedly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sean entered the pub. The whole scene displayed an aura of absolute chaos. It seems that they had been playing cards, but they had obviously devolved, because of the drink they seemed adamant on consuming. 'So Where's your Madame Loue?' asked the cook. 'There she is.' Sean pointed to the back of the room. 'The Women with the white dress, and the red hair.' Sean made his way over to her. 'I assume you want me to tell you your future.' 'Yes ', Sean replied, but he was sceptic. ' You have lost someone who is close to you..... You will go on a crusade..... You must...... Find your brother.....' To Sean, that made sense. She stood if the barrel and stared Sean straight in the eyes. ' I hope you have a ship', She said. 'Because tomorrow we sail to Raider's Haven, in the Lowers'. She turned and left. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thanks for reading the last Sean Greybeard's Story. Obviously his saga isn't over, as I'm working on sequels. His story will be continued in Exploring Raider's Haven. I hope you enjoyed the read. This is a freebuild, but not a business of any kinds. When I reveal all my land mocs, they will be licenced.

I hated it when he called me that. Richard was my real name, and that stupid nickname was another thing that mother of his left to him. No inheritance, just a contamination of our family, the noble Fortescues, and we would no longer be considered as one of the other regal, powerful families, because of fathers drinking problem and that women he had picked up. 'This is something to do with you, right?' He asked. 'No,' I denied his accusation, but he heard the false tone in my voice and he knew I was lying. I pushed up the panel. It was quiet. I emerged. As I pulled my self up, I gripped my cutlass. A second later Sean pulled himself up, and he pulled out his flintlock. 'What have you done?' he said. I stepped on his hand, kicked his pistol away and bolted. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sean I pulled myself up, retrieved my pistol, and began to walk through the jungle, and then I realised. Dick had planned to kill me and Father's soldiers, take the treasure and then buy up the company. It was obvious that my Half-Brother had no faith in Father. It made perfect sense. Except - who killed Father's Soldiers? In the next clearing, there lay a man bleeding to death. In his chest was a huge machete of a muted iron tone. I ran over to him. Bending over him, I asked him what had happened. What I could hear came from underneath a hacking, violent cough, and he was obviously choking on his own blood. He had no hope. 'Beware... The red mask... The... Messenger of.. He....' And then he was dead. Sean walked further down, until he walked onto the beach. Out in the azure waters of the bay was the Brig that had brought them here. It was burning. This was no longer a fight between two brothers, it was a fight between right and wrong. Someone who will stop at nothing to get what he wanted, and the Man who was willing to put his life on the line to stop him. ____________ To be continued...... Edit: this is FB 2, not 1.
  7. Note: this part is based before part 1, bit must be read after part three. Part 1: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/179698-sean-greybeards-story-part-1-guilt-is-a-powerful-thing/ Part 2 https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/179724-sean-greybeards-story-part-2-he-shouldnt-be-that-hard-to-deal-with/ Part 3 https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/179846-sean-greybeards-story-part-3-spreading-rumours/ In Times Past I - The City Of Gold. Early 620, El Oleanda. Father's Trading company was doing well but he was getting old. As he aged, the old stories he believed in came back to haunt him as his ancient brain became senile. One such story was the City of Gold. Hidden on the island of El Oleanda, it was a golden city paved with gold. The most wonderful place in the world. I knew it didn't exist. But father tells us it does and I do as he says. I knew something was wrong when father sent Sean with me. Sean is my half-brother, begot from some drunken women that drunken Father found in the street. Sean and his mother are worthless to me, and father knows I loath them, so he is going off if he thinks it's a good thing to send us away together. Anyway, it was getting dark when we reached the shore. We went further up river in a rowboat. To prevent attack from the lotii, father had provided us with some Guards, from his military escort company. Father has friends in high places. When the depth of the river was too shallow to continue upwards, we disembarked and walked further on into the jungle. As it got darker, we saw more animals, and some kind of a monkey stole Sean's hat. We moved closer to the spot were father claimed the city should be, but when we got there, there was nothing. But I would not show that I had little faith in father. Sean had no qualms in showing his distaste for fathers senile sense of direction. 'There's nothing here!' He yelled. Suddenly, one of the Soldiers tripped. As I began to scold him, I noticed he had tripped over something, in the center of the clearing. 'Dig!' I yelled. As they dug, they found a panel which they removed quickly. Inside it was dark, but one of the soldiers had a torch and we looked inside. GOLD! I dropped down and I turned to Sean. 'I guess Father was right'. Suddenly, I heard a clammer of loud noises and gunshots from above and we heard the clank of the panel being slid back into place. To be continued..... @Ayrlego I hope this OK, as its based in El Oleanda and the challenge is over. @Mesabi @Darnok I was suggesting to remove the references, and I have.
  8. Tortuga, Sea Turtle Island, 620 The wind was quiet and calm, the water lapping at the sides of the boat. Suddenly, a rush of water stirred on the port side of the vessel as the two strong fishermen heaved the net onto the boats small deck. The man towards the bow took out one fish and threw it back into the water. 'damn rules and regulations', he cursed, his wet face shining in the sunlight. Turning to the Fisher women in the boat, he said: 'd' you hear, Greybeard got a ship'. The women remained silent, biting her lip. The man carried on talking. 'she's a cutter by the name of the Sea Wench. Fifty feet from stem to stern. Me brother helped build her. At this the women replied: ' fat lot of good she'll do him. Ever since he lost his galleon, he seems to be a bit brooding. Like he's being manipulated by some sort of guilt or debt. The man turned to face the bright sun. ' guilt is a powerful thing' he said cryptically.
  9. Previously: Part 1 https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/179698-sean-greybeards-story-part-1-guilt-is-a-powerful-thing/ It has been raining for a while when Florian began heading back to the estate. It was foggy and he could hardly see, but he knew his way around, and he had been going to the estate for longer than he could remember. He was getting too old for this. As He approached the building, like usual, it in no way portended to what was in it. It gave of a stately, important vibe, but Florian knew all too well that what was inside was quite different, rotting, poisoned even. When he reached the big double doors, he was worried. Master would be angry. He knocked, and entered. The room gave of a faint gray glow. Master was facing away from him, but in the tall black mirror, Florian could see him gritting his teeth. He held his breath. 'Master, may I speak?' he said quietly. Master did not turn to face him as he approached , his face turning away so Florian could no longer see it in the mirror. 'Yes. What news do you bring? ' Masters voice was cold, as if his words came not from his voice box but from his poisoned, cruel soul. 'Greybeard has survived.' Florian was fearful, his body wracked with sweats. 'He has a new ship, the cutter Sea Wench.' Master hissed angrily. When he spoke again his voice was dripping with vindictive rage. 'Sean still owes me. I will kill him. I will have my revenge.' Florian spoke again.' Sir, the Black Captains Brethren are a tightly knit group. They will not allow you to take one of their brothers The Phoenix will be angry if you interfere.' There was a silence, which seemed to last for decades. When Master spoke again it was with chilling calm. 'Loosen the knots until we can get to Sean.'
  10. As Sean walked along the beach, following the masked man, he could begin to work out who the other people on the beach were. He could distinctly see the crazy Doctor Thaum, and that bonehead Callaghan. He set to work by what looked like another pile of sand. ----- He looked at his work in wonderment. Suddenly, the masked man ran at him angrily. 'No! You build castle from the sand of our god!' Suddenly, Sean realised - he had dug up the masked man's religious idol of some kind. 'I'll build another one!' Sean blurted. 'Yes. You must repair our god.' Why did I say that thought Sean. Well, it was a great sandcastle. OOC @Professor Thaum
  11. Here's my entry for the sandcastle challenge, cat a As Sean approached the Little Shack, a man with a huge mask on came out of the door. The mask was red, green and white, and it was carved into a fearsome visage. As the masked man approached Sean, it spoke in a rumbling voice. 'Drink? You want drink? I have rum? You like rum? I have many drink? Sean took a sip from the rum it had offered him. It was good rum. The man started speaking again. ' You know ' it said,' Further along beach many people build castle from sand. You build too?' Sean considered it. Yes, he thought, what harm is there in building a sandcastle. 'Yes' . He said. 'I will'. OOC I probably won't licence it, but I can if I want. @Professor Thaum
