And here's another crew member of the Ark: G1 RATCHET Almost in scale with System Town... Almost... RATCHET PROFILE RATCHET BACK VIEW RATCHET MID TRANSFORMATION The multitude of 1x2 hinges give him tremendous poseability. RATCHET ROBOT MODE He's a wonderful mish-mash of old and new Lego. The grey 2x2 turntables on the knees and elbows are all the way from 1979 Classic Space, while the white 1x2 bricks with bow on the hand guards are from a 2015 Star Wars set... RATCHET ROBOT MODE And a parting robot mode shot. Before anyone asks, yes, I have an Ironhide variant, but lack bricks to build it. It only exists in LDD... for now. Thank you for watching.

Ratchet action with servo motor?
JGW3000 posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am thinking of implementing a ratchet action with a servo motor, implemented with a 24T clutch and a catchment mechanism. Activating the servo at full power should give me 90 degrees of rotation on the 24T gear, 'clicking' through the catchment, and rotation on any meshed gears. If the catchment holds, then when the servo returns to its start position, the clutch should slip and not turn back when its axle turns, and any gears turned by the clutch gear should retain their new position and not return back? I think this would be a good way to transfer rotation to linear step motion, which I will need for a MOC I am thinking of. thanks for comments -
Thanks to prateek for some inspiration: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=81238 I tried something new with the chassis, it's just two big 1x16 technic beams, but I spaced them so there's a 5-stud wide gap between them instead of 4-wide. This helps widen the track (distance between tires on the same axle) while still keeping the body itself 8-wide. Got lazy so it isn't finished, looks good so far.
