The Tale of Doctor Alfredson of Corrington: Chapter 4 Chapter 1 : Embarking on towards Adventure. Chapter 2 : The Voyage of the Autumn Blossom. Chapter 3 : Rehearsal in Rassilon Character list in spoiler brackets. The Khan's Stallion was not the best tavern in Rassilon nor was it the loudest however, both those titles belonged to Marco's but what the Khan's Stallion was, was close it was very near to the bandstand where Satoshi, Ragnar and Calder had listened to the Weelond Players. "Well how does one find Labourers to hire?, ." "Rassilon is a place full of opportunities, we just have to hope we find one" "Well I doubt people will just show up out of nowhere and ask for a job." Two rough looking blokes came together in front of them, one of the had come from the concert, whereas the other had just exited the Khan's Stallion, yet the men stood together and clearly had ties. Ragnar headed closer to the men and they neared him, surprisingly eager to strike up a consersation with strangers on the street. "I saw you fellows down by the bandstand, did I not overhear you looking for workers?" "You did." "Me and my friend here would be willing to volunteer for such a position and for a very reasonable fee too" "Deal!" "What, are you just going the hire the first people, you see! No background checks or anything!" "You said We should get this over with quickly." "This was not quite what I had in mind." "Trust me chaps, you won't regret it." The other ASTG marines returned bringing with them a cannon from the local factory. "Lovely craftsmanship, that will do nicely." The marine turned to face Ragnar "Yiroe said we were to assist you with your studies whilst we waited for him and the doctor to finish their duties." "Splendid, why don't we start here, find out how a tree can grow simply from sand with little proper soil, exciting no?!" "It sounds great in theory but I think that the fine people of Rassilon probably don't want you laying your, uh whats it called...?" "Quadrat" "That's it, thank you laddie, yes , they probably don't want you laying your quadrat across the street." "Not the mention the city environment will probably have an affect on your results." "Ah yes, a fair argument, I suppose, We'll head away from civilisation to carry out our field work." "Good call" Out of earshot of the Laborers Calder again addressed his grievances to Ragnar, something Ragnar and now Satoshi were becoming used to. "Do those men not look like brigands to you?" "Calder, they are just men out for an honest living, no more dangerous than a simple insect like an ant." Calm down Laddie, you seem to think everyone in this town is some sort of pirate, which is quite plainly, absurd" "They did have a skull and crossbones as the flag on their fort!" "Fair point" Satoshi replied chuckling. Little did Ragnar know that the ants you find in Rassilon are the size of a man's head with venom that will paralyse you with one bite. "Argh Aiie, Ahh!!!!" OOC: Out of the Mocs I've built for BotBS so far (including some I haven't yet published") this one has to be my favourite. I think I'll start a list of the chapters in my signature, anyway thanks for looking I hope you had fun, and as always C and C are most welcome. Bonus pictures on Flickr and in the spoiler tag below.

There are many factories in Rassilon, but none quite as smelly as Frankie's Tannery. The process of tanning hides is a smelly one, so Frankie built his factory on the outskirts of town. Despite the smell, many people come to this tannery because of the high quality work put out by the factory workers. Why don't you stop in today for your tanning needs?

Previously: Chapter 1 Chapter 2: Sinbad the Pirate Hang The Rules Rescued Shipwright Shipwright's Office The Komodo Dragon "Because They're Pirates!" After the disastrous results of last month's voyages, Sinbad sought to meet with the captains of the two lost ships. He found them walking through Rassilon's fish market. Jamie, Jay, I've been looking for you. Sir, yes sir, what can we do for you sir? Does this have anything to do with the fact that both our ships sank sir? Idiots! What else could it be about! It wasn't our fault captain! We tried our best to keep the Tigerlily and the Darting Frog afloat, honest! We all make choices. When the Fang family tried to woo me with convincing arguments, I chose to take my own path. When Captain Fheng died and left us all to fend for ourselves, I chose to become a captain myself instead of sniveling under another man's orders. You two made your own choice when you agreed to follow me as captain! Now, you can choose to make your loses up to me, or you can choose to see my harpoon come out your backside, which will it be? We'll make it up to you captain, we swear!

Previously: Chapter 1 Chapter 2: Sinbad the Pirate Hang The Rules Rescued Shipwright Shipwright's Office The Komodo Dragon Back in Rassilon, a group of nobleman were visiting to investigate whether they could set up a shop in town. As they checked in with the port master, they were told that Rassilon had a rule that no weapons were allowed to be carried in the town. So each one was leaving his weapons behind. Just then some men walked past, each openly carrying weapons. So the man from Oleon spoke up and asked, "Hey, why do we have to leave our weapons but they get to keep theirs?" "Well you see, they're pirates" answered the port master. "They aren't law abiding citizens like yourselves. So they can't be expected to keep the rules like you honest folk now can they?" "Well, yes" said the man from Oleon. "I supposed that makes sense."

His own son had left him to rot in a Mardien prison. His men had essentially mutinied against him and no one had come back to rescue him. He wanted his ship back and he wanted a crew to command. But as long as he had no gold, neither seemed like a reasonable possibility. While in town he heard the rumors of a treasure fleet bound from Nelisa. He decided to visit his old Sensei. He know that if anyone in Rassilon had information on the treasure, it would be him. "Sensei," said Cho, "I see you are still training men in the ways of martial arts. It seems that even Sea Rats can be taught discipline." "Yes," replied the Sensei, "You would do well to remember your old lessons. You seem to be lacking in discipline yourself these days if the rumors are true. Not even able to hold a crew together eh?" "Sensei," said Cho, "It was not I who lacked the discipline, but my son. He's the one who choose his own way rather than submit to me. But that's not why I'm here." "But it is why you should be." answered Sensei. "You think that treasure will buy your way back into power, but what you don't understand is that you are working with pirates. They exist because they do not believe submitting to their authorities is in their best interest. They want to choose their own way and reap the full rewards of it without having to share with anyone else. That is what your son understands and you do not. Sea Rats will not submit simply because the honor demands it. But they can have honor in their own way. If they respect the Pirate Code and their fellow men who uphold it, that is a kind of honor. But enough of my prattle, as you said, it's not why you're here. Come inside and I will share with you what I know of the treasure."

Cantu's House Even a Pirate Has a Sweet Tooth La Oleon Captain's Cabin Tropical Fruit Decision Lumber Camp Freddy's Big Haul The Golden Dragon The Capture of "El Polla" Swamp Raid Pirate Lagoon Palm Tree Inn (this is being registered as a small Arts and Culture) The sea rats of Rassilon weren't big on anything that fell within the realm of cultured society. But one day an Oleander artist showed up who insisted that if he were allowed to bring a little bit of art into the pirate's lives, they would feel more enlightened as a people. He built a pedestal and began to chisel away some statues to grace the people of Rassilon. As the statues took form it was clear that it was an angel slaying a demon. When asked what the two figures represented the artist stated that the angel represented justice and the demon represented piracy. He said that he felt if the pirates of Rassilon had a permanent representation of what they faced if the persisted in their sins, that they may turn from their vile ways. The sea rats of Rassilon didn't like that, so that night they drowned the artist in quicksand and left him to dry on the beach. They added a few more touches to the rock-like artist and replaced the demon with him. Some say you can still see the eyes of the artist looking out in horror through the helmet they drowned him in. Now the sea rats say the piece of art represents how they make their own justice.

Cantu's House Even a Pirate Has a Sweet Tooth La Oleon Captain's Cabin Freddy was at the fruit store with his farmer friend, Charles. While Sinbad, Li Chang, and the rest of the crew of the Viper were escaping from Mardier, Jorge Cantu was resting in his house. Being one of the wealthier residence of Rassilon, it meant he could afford a house in the nicest district. But while living in the nicest district afforded many comforts, it also came with great risk. For everyone else, including those pirates with fewer scruples than most, knew where the wealthy lived as well.

One of Freddy's neighbors worked as a foreman over a sugarcane plantation just outside the city limits of Rassilon. Sugarcane was extremely popular on the island. It just goes to show you that even pirates can have a sweet tooth.

Previously: Recruiting at Marco's This Is Not the Wealthy Housing of Rassilon Falling Out with Foxx OoC: This is my 4th freebuild, if you are not a Sea Rat please mark whether you vote for this build or not! Cantu’s Fort was situated on the east side of the bay. It was presided over by Jorge Cantu, a notorious pirate who had left Eslandola early on in its race for exploration to pursue the more lucrative occupation of piracy. After capturing rich prize after rich prize, Cantu decided it would be wise to find a place to guard his wealth and what health remained him. He had worked with Captain Fang on many raids so it was a natural choice to him for to have Cantu take over the running of the fort. Many wares were brought through the fort (for a fee of course) for protection while in transition between buyers. After returning from Olean, Sinbad accompanied Li Fang to the fort to see if they could find a new prize to go after. Since the funds they received from Lord Foxx were barely enough to cover the costs of their journey, let along pay the crew anything, Captain Cho had agreed that they needed to go after a lucrative prize quickly or risk mutiny from the crew. Li negotiated with Jorge Cantu and left with some valuable information.

[SR-FB2] This Is Not the Wealthy Housing of Rassilon
MKJoshA posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The port of Rassilon had the privilege of having forts. Three of these formed a triangle which allowed them to best protect the bay and other interests. Behind the base of this triangle sprang up housing that was sturdy and higher quality than average. Because of this and the fact that it was the best protected portion of the city residences here were naturally more expensive to buy or rent. Captain Cho Fang walked through a neighborhood that was not in the wealthy section. He had sailed as a pirate captain for many years, gaining the respect of his fellow pirates. When the Nest of Thieves was founded, Captain Fang was an obvious choice as leader of the port of Rassilon. He still had command of his own ship and took her on regular voyages of a nefarious nature. But when he was back at the port he would oversee the town meetings and give council to what the best course of action was. Most of the governing, if you can call it that in a pirate port, was left to a council of men loyal to Fang who stayed behind when he went sailing. And although Fang was the “mayor” of this town in name mostly and function but a little, he still felt a responsibility to its residents. These feelings did not stop him from punishing those who swindled him or failed to bring in a good profit, but it did mean he spent some time walking the streets of Rassilon each time he was back, to get a feel for the town and what the mood of the people was. He was in a section of housing that could afford to have stone buildings, covered in plaster to reflect the heat; but couldn’t afford trifles like doors or proper windows. Most of the year it was unbearably hot in Rassilon so this caused little discomfort. But it did allow for other problems like teaching the chickens not to each the straw from out of the mattress. -
Born the 3rd son of well-to-do land owner in Olean Sinbad was expected to join the clergy as all good 3rd born sons were known to do. His oldest brother was to inherit the land from their father, and the 2nd son was already a person of note in the Olean Navy. And if Sinbad were to follow tradition, he would become a well spoken clergyman. But Sinbad did not believe in the religion of his people, and he did not want to be stuck on land his whole life. His heart yearned for the sea so to the sea he went. His full story is for another time, but after more than one voyage, Sinbad ended up on the island known as the Nest of Thieves. The island lived up to its name and soon Sinbad found himself penniless. Not without resources, Sinbad lifted a few coins off of a drunk who had passed out in an alley. The coin was just going to be spent on drink, thought Sinbad, so what harm was there in him being the one doing the drinking? He entered a loud tavern known as Marco’s and settled into a corner. He noticed many of the bar’s patrons were of an ethnicity different than most he had encountered on the main lands of the peninsula. He assumed they were of the Orient, a land even further south and east than New Oleon. Their speech was a little different, but easy enough to understand. “I tell you father, we are wasting our time here!” the man standing at the shoulder of “father” said. “The best men are to be found at the bars closer to the docks.” “Yes young grasshopper,” “father” replied, “But those men are also more blood-thirsty and less likely to appreciate the fine line our crew must walk in our endeavors. Remember, you are not captain for a reason, you still lack much experience.” “Ha!” the son exclaimed, “I may not be captain, but as quartermaster I hold just as much power as you. Be careful not to forget that!” “You’re arrogance does not become you Li” he replied. “Now are we going to continue to argue like dogs over a bone or are you going to find us some more recruits? We need at least one more member if we are going to pull off our next privateering run for Lord Foxx.” Sinbad perked up at this. He wasn’t sure he was ready to join a bloody-thirsty crew. He needed a ship with a level headed captain so he could learn how best to make a living in this new world he had entered. A privateer was nothing more than a sanctioned pirate who managed to turn some profit towards the one who sanctioned him. But a captain who accepted a privateer’s license was more likely to give Sinbad a chance to learn how to be a good crewman without too much punishment or ridicule. “I couldn’t help but overhear that you’re in need of another member for your crew” Sinbad said as he stepped over to their table. “Where do I sign up?” “We don’t take just anyone you sewer rat!” spat the son. “You look like you don’t know your fore from your aft sails!” Ignoring the tirade of his son Li, the father asked, “You look Oleander by birth, where do you hail from?” Sinbad looked down at his feet, “My past is not important, only my future. I wish to sail the seas and live a life on the oceans. I may not know much yet, but I swear I’m a quick study and a hard worker.” “Hmm,” nodded the father. “A man who runs from his past always finds it just behind him.” The father looked Sinbad in the eyes for a long time while Li looked bored and impatient. At least the father said, “I am captain Cho Fang. Will you serve me and my crew as a faithful member and able bodied hand?” “Sign me up” was Sinbad’s reply. Additional shots:
