[Challenge 3][Cat B][M-A04] Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair

Location: A04 Mynderis Tags: Science // PERSONAL DIARY // Though I'm no botanist I've been trying my hand at cultivating some flowering plants from Mynderis aboard the Mantis science ship Scorpion in one of the hydroponic labs. I've been adding Awesomnium to the water to see if it enhances them. Big Sal also added one of his new hybrids in the corner to see what impact Awesomnium water has on it. My pacifist companion Ed Zob doesn't seem to like the idea of super powered plants and continues to insist that we should not be meddling with nature. He tried to claim the hybrid is an affront to nature, science, and the gods. Honestly, I think being a pacifist, he just doesn't like that Mantis is so militaristic and he doesn't trust the corporation. It isn't pleasant for me either, but Big Sal has seemed really stressed out lately and the constant stress of leadership and concern over Kawashita attacks can't be helping. Maybe some giant plants would brighten his day. And it would help to know how the Awesomnium impacted plants for other stuff too. He has been so busy lately I haven't really managed to catch up with him much. It seems like he is never in his cabin or his office. And the labs get sealed sometimes when certain experiments are going on. I'm sure he is just really busy with all of his work. Location: A04 - Mynderis Tags: Science, Engineering Mission Log Recording - "This is Dr. Steven Quin Livingston with my seventh weekly mission in Andromeda. For this mission I have been asked to return to Mynderis set-up an Awesomnium detection grid. I have designed a suitcase size unit, but while I thought that Kawashita Group management would send someone to place to unit but it appears that assumption was just wishful thinking. Bill, my driver thought it would be a great idea for me to use a magnetic glove and be lowered into the active volcano so that I could place the sensors. The magnetic glove will not let my hand remove its grip from the mechanical arms of our ship. As I am being lowered from the Tanto-3 I am doubting the the wisdom of this plan and the scope of the Kawashita Group Medical Insurance Plan." Comments and criticism are welcome.

Planet: A04 Mynderis Tags: Exploration Commander Turtle has been regaling Lieutenant Sonja Okura with his daring feats during the war on Pluto. So, as you can imagine, as soon as it touched his tea the spoon he was holding burst into flames! Haha. It's especially funny because he burnt his hands. Oh, Doctor Reagan was so angry, he kept repeating, "Give me back the burn cream," but he came to see the humour in it. Never let me live it down! He always said, "Why would you burn the hands of the one person who knows how to make a bandage?" He always knew how to take a joke well, that Doctor. Anyway, where was I? So, after that the engineering department made sure that all the spoons had sticky notes saying, "Do not coat with liquid-reactive explosives," which I thought was very funny. It's like they were asking for it! These little walkers sure are fun, aren't they Sonja? Sonja? Where the devil are you? SONJA! Oh hell. There is going to be an obscene amount of paperwork if she's gotten herself killed. To be continued?!

Location= A-04 Mynderis Tags= Kawashita, Pilot, Hovership, Mynderis, Exploration As we push towards all the planets in the galaxy being controlled by a corporation I feel like every little brick of Awesomnium is needed to keep us ahead of the others. I will scout for every last brick and then send out drones to retrieve it. I won't land on the planet, it is to volatile.

The new objective of the Kawashita Group was Mynderis, a incredibly hot planet, constantly erupting and changing. It was choosen for its large reserves of Awesomnium but seemed MANTIS already placed a few plant and facilities on the planet but this didn't stop the Kawashita executive to carry out its plans. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to be part of the plan; thi time not to build from scratch a new outpost but to take control of one of these facilities, why destroy them when you could take the control and save resources and time? With a Covert Operation squad to support them, Alexander and his squad of enginers landed on Mynderis and started their work, silent and swiftly... = = = = = = = = = And here we are! I'm really happy again with the result again, AG is really stimulating me to bring some nice works out of me! I hope you Enjoy!

For this mission I have been asked to find out if we can improve our Awesomnium extraction from Mynderis. I have gone back to first principles and came up with a new extraction method taking advantage of the very high natural temperatures here on Mynderis. I have been assigned to work with Donald an Engineer to put my designs to work right away. Donald was initially skeptical of the design, but had suggested multiple improvements that will not reduce the effectiveness, but will reduce the required maintenance of the device. Location: Mynderis Tags: Kawashita, Mynderis, Spaceship, Military The good news: I’m officially an ace! I shot down two escort fighters on that intercept mission over Terrial Minor, which brings my total to six! Woo hoo! In the action against the bug-eyed aliens, I managed to do some real damage. The ion disruptors on the Gremlin weren’t as effective as I was promised, but they did have some effect, and we sent them back with bloody noses (or whatever they breath through, if they even breathe at all…). And so, Operative Q told me that I’ve been transferred to First Division, and that there’s a promotion in the works! Hard to imagine that things can get any better! Unfortunately, at that point, they can get a whole lot worse… The bad news: Aera Lure is MIA. I’ve been told that she was last heard of flying a recon mission over Mynderis and failed to report back. A faint, garbled Kawashita distress signal was detected not long ago. Maybe she’s still alive… Aera and I have known each other since we were kids (though she would say I still am). She’s the reason I’m a part of Kawashita. So if she needs my help, there’s nothing that can stop me from doing everything I can to come through. Even if it means disobeying orders… Fortunately for me, it hasn’t come to that. Mister S found out what I was about to do, and he managed to get me orders to go find her. He even got me a ship! It’s the Samurai, a design Kawashita got from a tech exchange with the NAIS (New Avalon Institute of Science). And he wished me luck as well. Thanks. I’m going to need it. Hang on, Aera! I’m coming! This is what I consider a trial and error build, because it was a trial and most of it seemed to be an error! Getting the twin nose booms to attach with minimal gaps proved challenging. However, after a bit of frustration, it all started to come together... While I'm pleased with the nose, it seems like this build is a bit of a step backward in terms of design style. Still wish I could have done better with the wings and upper engine pod. But I think the overall shape came out well. In terms of story, I like to have a bit of humor, but Blackhawk does have a serious side to him, and it felt like a good time to show that. But don't worry! Our walking accident will be himself soon! Mission: Someone had to do it. A minifig on a plate ;) Well, almost only that. I threw a mech in my kid was working on. My apologies to the corp this week. I am home for a few moments today and off again for work related stuff. Just enough time to upload a few photos. It has been a busy week for Col. Brik in the Kawashita corp. :)

Oakley Canyon Mynderis - 3185 TAGS: Military, Special Operations Wilhelm, still helping MANTIS yet still wearing Kawashita colors in case anyone was watching, argued dryly with the MANTIS scouts. They didn't want to believe that the Awesomnium vein was where he said it was, so he brandished the E-paper map he'd stolen when he'd defected. He pointed to a spot in the complex series of canyons, passes, ridges, and valleys. The scouts were sceptical anyway, and insisted on checking and rechecking it. Wilhelm was already impatient, but now he was getting angry. He didn't like being out here in the open. Oakley Canyon did not have as much cover as he would have liked. And he was right to be worried. Kawashita colors or not, Wilhelm's defection was well known among Kawashita Operators. Koro should know, since he was the one who'd discovered it for himself back on Aeristus. Koro leaned back on the rocks of his perch. He dug in his sidepouch for a special round, but he held off from loading it into his rifle. "The intel was good, Narbilu-sama. It looks like he's trying to help some scouts find something. My guess is mineral deposit." "Good work, Koro. You're sure it's Wilhelm?" "It's his armor. No one else in Andromeda dresses quite like that, right? All that paint..." "Obviously we need more than that to go on." "I pinged his helmet, which has a heavily modified friend-or-foe system. One of a kind in Andromeda. It's him, sir." "And I have a shot..." BUILDER'S NOTES: -I understand the sensitivity of potentially killing off another player's character, even if the character has been replaced with a new one. Because of this, I am leaving Wilhelm's ultimate fate (for now) a mystery until or unless Goliath reappears and clarifies his plans for the character. It could be some kind of tracker bullet Koro is about to load, and anyway he doesn't take the shot that we see and I made this choice because I think it would be mean for me or anyone to decide what happens to Wilhelm beyond a certain point. At the same time, I made the decision to contextualize Goliath's change of companies and characters as at least partially a defection from Wilhelm (because that makes interesting story possibilities, as you can see in the two builds I've made in reaction to it). Basically, I'm making this note to make sure everyone understands that I'm just trying to tell an interesting story and not looking to hand out ultimate fates to anyone's characters without their permission or anything like that!

Location: A04-Mynderis Tags: Exploration Job: Explorer The more I explored Mynderis, the quicker I wanted to leave; lava and rocks were the main terrain, with the occasion small volcano. It seemed that most of these weren't active however, and I didn't pay too much attention to them. That is, until one of them erupted directly in front of me... Needless to say, I was rather startled, and hot tailed out of there as fast as my jet-packs would take me. More pics here: Link Just a really quick little build for this week. C&C welcome

NOTE: THIS BUILD IS FOR WEEK 10, NOT WEEK 9. Location: D04 Terrial Minor Tags: Exploration Mission Log: Entry 12 ~ The alien somehow escaped my clutches yet again and headed for the planet Terrial Minor on the stolen shuttle. Unfortunately for him, he was a terrible pilot and promptly crashed, making it easier for me to locate him. Armed only with a pair of handcuffs, I had him trapped up a small rock outcrop. Nowhere to run. However, I was completely unprepared for what happened next. I should have known MANTIS had a presence on D04... I had no weapons of any kind (not that they would have been any use to me; I had no weapons training) As for the MANTIS guy, he had a Death Ray Blaster! Luckily, I have pretty fast reflexes! However, he kept coming! I frantically scrambled onto the rocky outcrop, but even that was not enough. I silently cursed myself for never getting weapons training. This is the end.... Closing my eyes, I waited for the blast that would end my life. But it never came. Instead, I heard a buzzing sound, and to my joy, a Kawashita Dropship, piloted by a robot and with Commander Turtle kneeling on the back, blaster in hand, rounded the edge of the outcrop and advanced on the MANTIS partisan. However, an evil smile formed on the MANTIS guy's face as he aimed for the belly of the dropship, hoping to cripple it and kill its passenger. I had a split second to act. Fortunately I had been trained in martial arts.... With the MANTIS guy safely handcuffed and secured, it was only a matter of minutes before we located the (terrified) alien. Obviously it was not accustomed to combat. I felt a rush of relief. I had succeeded in my mission and would keep my rank and status - the files were back safely in Kawashita hands and the alien was in custody. As for the MANTIS guy, he had been sent to a detention centre packed with other MANTIS prisoners - we had a lot - but the alien was going to a more secure prison on board the flagship. As for me - well, I decided that I'd better put aside my rangefinder binoculars for now and actually learn to handle a weapon - at the Hyreal Military Academy. Location: Planet Mynderis, Sector A04 Tags: Military Log_M_6: Once again, I have been deployed on Mynderis. This time, I have joined a group of M.A.N.T.I.S. Special Forces operatives to take down some Kawashita missile turrets and small communications towers... Cargo Ship M_C1-1, this is Ace Jagjit reporting: One missile turret down, a couple more to go. Don't deploy troops yet, still too many turrets, they will take you down in a flash. Cargo Ship M_C1-1 is preparing to deploy troops. Wait, no! There is still a missile turret! Deploying troops. Aghh... Do they even listen? AG: Mynderis Again? by Andrew JN, on Flickr Log_M_6_1: Mission was a success, however, we lost a cargo ship (although I warned them!). Maybe that is why it is a cargo ship and not a dropship..... Anyway, during the aftermath, we found a little Kawashita robot that looked overworked, and to make the story short, we took it home with us. I really wanted to give it a name (Qubert), but they said not to name robots, and to just call it a KHB bot.... Whatever... Over and out.

Location: Planet Mynderis, Sector A04 Tags: Spaceship Log_M_5: After having been lectured on what I'm supposed to do in the M.A.N.T.I.S. corporation, I went to scan the skies above the skies of Mynderis... i.e. Got to fly in space! Not long afterwards, my radar picked up an enemy ship. Knowing Kawashita was beginning to send spies to this planet, I went after this craft. Upon noticing me on his radar, he flew into some asteroid fields near the planet in hopes of escaping the grasp of M.A.N.T.I.S. Little did he know I was an expert spacecraft flyer........ Location: Mynderis, Sector A04 Tags: Building, Spaceship Log_M_4: After a successful mission gathering biomass the Octan corporation kindly provided for us, I headed out to a M.A.N.T.I.S. dropship that hovered over the lava lakes of the planet Mynderis, in Sector A04. End_Log This is cargo ship M_C1-1 requesting permission to land. Permission granted. Prepare to land in Bay 23 AG: A Small Miscommunication by Andrew JN, on Flickr Ensign Harlon Norton, here is a shipment of Biomass from Sector E02 and Awesomnium from Sector A04. Ensign Harlon Norton: Alright, thank you Ace Jag... Wait, what!? Biomass from Sector E02? That planet is exploding with Awesomnium, the one resource we need, and you bring back BIOMASS!? What is your job Ace Jagjit? (Confused) I am a Special Forces Operative sir! Ensign Harlon Norton: Then what are you doing making resource deliveries? Uh.... Since I already had the biomass with me.... and I was coming here.... I... figured I would save some time and deliver it myself. I contacted Private Callum to let them... Ensign Harlon Norton: Don't finish. We have people who's job is to deliver and ship resources. You are a Special Forces Operative. We need men like you to be behind enemy lines helping us stay one step ahead of them. We don't need you STACKING USELESS BIOMASS ON THE SHELVES OF WAREHOUSES!!! Ensign Harlon Norton: Now get back out there and do something useful! Try blowing up something or bug enemy systems! [pause] Ensign Harlon Norton: I suppose it isn't entirely your fault, Private Callum is new here, so he didn't know that you should be out there, while others will deliver resources. Still, you said you got biomass from Sector E02? Y.. Yes sir. Ensign Harlon Norton: ...[muttering]... Well. anyway, you have permission to leave Ace Jagjit. And please, do something useful.... Biomass..... really?... Why oh why?..... On a planet full of Awesomnium!......... Log_M_4_1: Ouch! Got smashed by Ensign Harlon today, and all I did was deliver some Biomass... I mean, come on, who knows? We might need it later... Or maybe we won't... Well, I did think delivering resources was kind of boring. So... back to the fun stuff!!! End_Log ------------------------------- The joke here is that I got Biomass from Sector E02 instead of Awesomnium, which is what the map index CLEARLY STATES...And yet somehow, I missed that, and gathered biomass from that planet!
