    [MOC] Repairing the wall

The wall got damaged with a previous attack on the city, now the workers are hard at work to repair the damage. -- This was build for the CCC XXI, "Medieval Maintenance" category. Repairing the wall by Ids de Jong, on Flickr C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking.
  2. According to Promobricks, one of the LEGO 90th anniversary set's will be a Castle set, inspired by the 1984 set 6080. 3. The 10305 Lion Knights' Castle is amazing. It's also $400 plus tax. The 31120 Medieval Castle is a great castle for $100 plus tax, but it doesn't have a lot of minifigs. What if you want a really simple, classic castle? As an exercise, I built set 6073 Knight's Castle from 1984 in Studio using only parts currently available from Bricks and Pieces. The result uses 670 parts, compared to the original 408, because the panels are brick-built, and it has no horses, and the minifigs are plain, but other than that it's a pretty close copy. The render doesn't show the minifigs, shields, and weapons, but they're included in my Bricks and Pieces bag. The total cost on Lego.com is $95.15 plus tax, plus whatever two horses and saddles cost from Bricklink or Bricks and Minifigs. Genuine used copies of 6073 currently go for $175 on Bricklink in the USA, or $150-200 on eBay depending on the condition. Will I go ahead and buy the parts? Almost certainly not. The 31120 is a much better castle for $100 plus tax, except for the paucity of minifigs. But it was an interesting exercise. Maybe in a few days I'll see if Bricks and Pieces can yield up a decent light gray recolor of the Yellow Castle. The horses won't be missing from that one ....

    [MOC] Castles over the years

Some Castles Ive made over the years. Its been a blast building them all. Focusing on pirates now but ill go back eventually.
  5. Hi everyone, This is my latest build: Ambush in the forest. The Lion Knights are marching home. In the forest the Lion Knights are ambushed by the Wolfpack Renegades. I wanted to experiment with different plants and trees. This was also the right scene to experiment with SNOT build rocks. Feedback is appreciated. More pictures are in my Flickr album.
  6. Hi everyone, This is my latest MOC: Battle of the old ruins of Lyon's Keep Another war between the Lion Knights and the Black Knights. This is the battle takes place in the ruins of Lyon's Keep. For more pictures please look into my Flickr album. Feedback is appreciated.

    [MOC] Kingdom's First Gate

This is my third MOC and the first i made with "new" pieces.... My collection is almost entirely from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's, so i used to have a lot of regular bricks in blue, yellow, white, black and red. Now i have adquire some new LEGO sets and the options are growing (i live in Argentina and the price of LEGO is ridiculous)... I build it last year but my camera was broken and today i got fixed it... About the MOC: This is the first line of defense in the kingdom... is a small structure with a small garrison... Time is peaceful so they can even go outside and cut the grass! As always, comments and criticism is most welcome! [MOC] Lions and Dragons

Hello all! I build these vignettes as both a nod to Classic Castle of the late 80s/early 90s and the 2010 Kingdoms-theme, which features a new take on the old antagonism between the two powers. The sets of the 2010-incarnation weren't great (well, mostly!), but the minifigs were just awesome! Anyway, enough blabla. Lets have a look at the Throne-room of the Dragon Queendom: For the Dragon Knights I had a distinctive, quite archaic look in mind, which pays tribute to the often harsh and inhospitable land they live in. A clear geometry with straight lines and steep slopes to give the impression of the Queen’s throne room being made of large black stones cut into simple shapes. Quite a imposing fortress-like architecture really with inspiration from ancient Babylonian temples and the city of Windhelm from the game Skyrim, with a little bit of Saruman’s throne Room thrown in. I also decided to give it a more asymmetric layout, to make it visually more interesting and slightly unsettling. The fireplace is made from a transparent Nexo Knights minifigure-base and a light brick I got from a Prince of Persia set. It turned out looking quite naturalistic and required no fancy effects added in post-production at all! Meanwhile, at the court of the Lion King: The Lion Kingdom got a more welcoming throne room, which impresses rather by its elaborated decoration than with brutalist geometry. It is in every respect a more conventional setting, with typical medieval decorative elements and a warm colour palette and a quite symmetric layout to emphasize noble rulership, justice and stability. The striped columns are inspired by the throne room of Emperor Charlemagne in the cathedral of Aachen, as my King himself is inspired by the life of the real-life ruler.
  9. I took my last castle build and made some major changes. I added a drawbridge and put a moat around the castle. I changed the keep, and added a nice looking library/ tower. Added a market village inside the walls as well. And made the dark forest outside the castle with a watch tower. The first picture was an entry for summer joust. The rest of the castle follows, I probably should have put minifigures in the pics, but i always like to take pics without the minis so you can see more detail and not be distracted. [MOC] Nag-Hum Keep

Nag-Hum keep is a medium-sized stronghold. It was build by the followers of the god of death named Krag-Dysh. Lion Knights have conquered it after a long siege. They rebuilt and renovated the rear part of the keep. The bridge and two black watch towers in front left untouched. More photos and full story on my blog: http://bricks.kalais.net/post9 Hope you like it, cheers, Kalais
  12. Hi! This was a project that took way more time than planned to finish. It started about a year ago when I was experimenting a bit with my dark orange wedge plates, trying to fit them together to make nice peaked roofs. From there I added the timber framed/Fachwerk walls and after that it went a couple of months when I didn't add anything to the build. Eventually I regained interest in it and I started building the landscape and laying out foundations for where I wanted the walls and towers to be. I finished the small tower and the gate and the bridge before other things got in the way and the build went into hibernation again. But, some weeks before today I was finally done with a huge batch of sorting and had a lot of inspiration to go back to building and I finished of the castle quite quickly. I just had to wait a little bit for a Bricklink order and a day with enough daylight to get the pictures. I thought that it would be fun to put the classic Lion Knights in this castle. They weren't my favourites when I was younger, but now I really like how their bright colours contrast against the more sober grey and tan in the landscape. I also like to combine the classic torsos with the new shiny helmets and weapons that we have now, I think it shows that the classic factions works just as nice (if not better) as the new ones. While I surely hope that the rumours about a 2016 Castle theme is true, I'm not going to be devastated if that fails since we already have so many good minifigs and pieces from decades of LEGO Castle. TL;DR: I love LEGO Castle and here is a castle I built to show that! More pictures can be found on my Flickr: Link /Etzel

    MOC - The Sea Hawk

--------------------------------------- The Black Falcon Flies Again - Part 1 25 years ago Lord Durstan of Highmountain led his people in rebellion against the Crown. At first it went well, but after months of fighting the young Crown Prince brought reinforcements from the capital. Defeated and wounded by the Prince himself, Durstan had no choice but to end his ambitions of independence. For more than two decades he has been away from home, a loyal courtier in the royal castle. But he still remembers Highmountain in his dreams. He dreamt of it the night the Chamberlain woke him, with news that the King had an errand for him. The Chamberlain took Durstan through the city, down towards the docks. There was trouble in Highmountain, he told him; rumblings of war. The King wanted Durstan to return home and restore the Crown's order. They arrived at the docks and Durstan saw it: his own ship, repainted in the King's colours but as proud as when he'd last seen it quarter of a century ago. The Sea Hawk. The King himself was there to see them off. Durstan swore his loyalty and promised to do what he could to restore order. And then they took to sea, and finally he was homeward-bound again. -------------- This is my first large-scale MOC. I never quite lost interest in Lego, but I didn't build anything for a long time. My dad loved it, though - he was a long-term AFOL. He didn't build his own things, but he liked looking at what others made and would often tell me excitedly about the latest sets. Late last year he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. I built this while he was ill and finished it after his death a few months ago. I like to think he'd be pleased with it. This one's for him. Janjy
