Here is my small Ice Cream Shop. The front features a gumball machine and bench under a tree for people to sit and eat their Ice Cream. The first floor has the actual ice cream and a small table setup. Here's a closeup of the counter and the supplies closet under the stairs, Second floor is a seating area as well as as another area to store some supplies/materials. Here is it alongside my bookstore and fishmonger. I'm almost done physically building the bookstore and then need to get working on the other two.

It's been a while since I last posted pictures of my MOC. I still have pictures of 3 larger MOC to sort and publish, so I'll begin with this small-sized MOC. It was built as part of a large town display on the last Slovenian exhibition. We each had the challenge to make a street food vendor, and I choose to do an ice cream place to show off all the amazing ice cream colors. Light yellow and pink were recent finds as part of Bellville set. As for the shape, I didn't want to make it a standard 4-angled building, so I choose to mimic the slightly curved shape of the iconic red kiosk as seen here. It's not a true copy, but I kept the rounded outline, as this was my favorite detail from childhood. The extra step allowed the kids to actually see what's inside. Since the kiosk was actually viewed from the back more than from the front, I had to put some details in the back as well. All in all, this was a rather quick, easy and much more relaxing to build compared to larger MOCs. Being small and simple, it was probably my only MOC up-to-date where I didn't need an extra Bricklink order.

This week’s installment in my food series is one of my personal favorite breakfast foods: waffles! And even better, waffles a la Mode! Because who doesn’t like ice cream? The photography for this build was challenging, to say the least. I spent several days trying different setups for the picture, getting suggestions from friends about what to change, and even now, I’m still not entirely happy with the result! But I guess that’s all part of learning and getting better. Picture aside, I am very pleased with how the waffles turned out. As always, feel free to let me know if you have suggestions for what I should build in the future for this series!

This is my newest modular building. I started building right after I finished the Mage's Mansion. As with that build, I did not plan ahead in LDD but just started building with the pieces from my collection. Since I parted out a lot of sets in the past few years, this felt like the natural thing to do. I ended up doing one (rather large) Bricklink order solely for tiles, 1 by x plates and a few bricks, since I was running out of those soon. I had always wanted to do a 24-wide modular. I remembered that I still had at least two of the old 24 x 16 baseplates with my childhood Lego, and wanted to use those. So I got them out, cleaned them...and thought, hang on, these feel pretty small. Did some counting, and yep, they aren't 24 x 16 baseplates, they are 20 x 14s! Whoops . I used them anyway, so this building occupies the rather unusual footprint of 20 x 28 studs. Less space then I had planned with (I had a basic idea for the general layout of this building), but I took it as a challenge... Since I did no digital planning, I have no idea how many pieces I used, I'd estimate that there are about 2500 pieces in here, but I could be way off. As usual, more pictures are available on flickr. This time, it's a lot more This building features two businesses and two apartments. The idea is that this used to be two very small buildings that at one point in time were combined into one. The little girl just bought her plutonium ice-cream. The girl's dad also got an icecream, but when he saw the new mountain bike on display at Mike's Bikes, he forgot all about it... Closer look at the facade detail on the sand-blue portion of the building. This involved building in multiple directions - most of it is upside down! The rooftop terrace on the blue portion of the building is accessible via a working sliding glass door, and features a pool for these hot summer days! Closer look at the roof of Mike's Bikes. Mike's Bikes is a pretty small shop, thus it is very cluttered with barely any room to move around. Still, Mike manages and has a lot of fun at his job! The Ice Cream parlour is even smaller than Mike's Bikes. It doesn't offer any seating, so everything is 'to go'! The apartment on the first floor features kitchen and bedroom areas and a living room with a cozy sofa. While her girlfriend relaxes on the rooftop terrace (as we saw earlier), the other occupant of the second apartment is preparing dinner. Looks like it's time for chicken! The bathroom is rather spacious, featuring a large tub. The topmost floor features a small bar area - together with the small swimming pool this is THE place for parties! Sometimes I come across parts of which I think: "Hey, you can do so much more with those instead of using them for that specific purpose where they were made for." So when I saw the cloud tile pieces from the Unikitty! Collectible Blind Bags, I didn't think about condensated water high in the sky. Instead, I thought about a big bowl of ice with a heavy dose of whipped cream on top. With the help from a tutorial video on YouTube, I managed to create scoops of ice and a glass made from the large panel pieces from the Ship in a Bottle set was easily constructed. A little bit of Bricklinking later and eventually this MOC was born. I hope it looks as tasteful to you as it does to me. You can view a full set of photos of this MOC on my Brickshelf. My 5th Modular Building! I've been very busy this last year, working on three modular MOCs. First up is this, my Ice Cream Parlour. Dedicated (and claimed by) my young daughter - it's been a labour of love! Lots of details inside and out, this is my first 32x32" building... FIRST FLOOR: ICE CREAM PARLOUR / APARTMENT HALLWAY - 4 x seating booths - fully stocked kitchen/counter area, with ice cream maker, ice cream freezer, till, sink etc. - W/C with toilet, sink etc. - Front door on street leads to apartment hallway/stairs. SECOND FLOOR: APARTMENT KITCHEN / LOUNGE - Kitchen with sink, fridge, cupboards, counter, oven - Lounge features fireplace, coffee table, and 3 x large sofas THIRD FLOOR: APARTMENT BEDROOMS / BATHROOM / OFFICE - Main bedroom with bed, nightstands, wardrobe, gas cupboard(!), and ornamental floor rug. - Smaller kids bedroom, with bed, night stand, dresser and toy box - Home office, with desk, PC, shelving units etc. Hope you enjoy! I'm happy to present to you my first modular building. I have put it on Ideas too, so if you like it, please support: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/106103. edit: It is now available on Rebrickable Some time ago my daughter got this Duplo set from her aunt: http://brickset.com/...ative-Ice-Cream That got me thinking I could use one of these cones for my own purposes, especially since my little one was very interested in throwing bricks across the room, instead of proper play (or maybe that was proper play ;) ). Anyway I borrowed four bricks from her (I honestly intend to give those back to her) and thought it would be nice to make a big advert out of this ice cream and make it rotate. Such an Ice Cream Parlor should have nice clientele drawn by this big sign of what's inside :) So power functions was a must. But since I was to integrate PF info a modular, why not go further and add some lights too? When I was young (long time ago...) I always liked things that moved and had lights :P so you can call it late compensation :P Later on I will present it module by module, but if you want to have a quick look at it in action, here's a video: Ok, so let's start with a view of all the modules separately: And now let's talk about the ground floor: As you can see, on the right there is the ice cream parlor with seating available inside and at the back of the building. You can buy ice cream, lemonade, donuts and coffee. The staff is taken from the Ice Cream Machine set :) I'm happy with the bench - it gave me some headache, but I wanted to have something distinctive. The lamp is also different to typical one, but it's nothing special. On the left there is an entrance to the owner's apartment. There is also a small storage room for bike. The top of it is removable for easier access, but you can get the bike in and out through the door (but it's tricky). Ok, now - the heart of the modular - the Power Functions module: All electronic components are here. That is: 1 Rechargeable battery 2 switches 3 sets of PF lights (so 6 sources of lights total) 1 M motor Of course apart from that there are also all the technic components to make it work. The motor is running the Duplo brick with a 1:9 reduction. The lights are provided for the ice cream parlor (4 of them), entrance to the staircase (1) and the apartment (1 for the table lamp seen above). My idea was to be able to control lights and motor separately, that's why I have 2 switches here. Look closely at the picture above. There are two holes for technic axles above. The one on the left is for access to the switch controlling the motor (advert). The hole on the right allows access to the switch controlling all the lights. Those go on/off simultaneously. You can't have just part of them on. That would require even more switches and there is simply no room for that. It's crammed inside already. Now, have a look at the bottom of this module where all the lights can be seen and the front of this module, which allows access to the rechargeable battery in case you need to recharge it (power cord access). Through the holes in the front section you can turn the battery on/off and change the voltage too. Now, the last two modules are the roof and the apartment of the owner. It's not much room inside - the advert required quite some space already, but it's cosy :P As you have seen already this apartment get light from the lamp on the table, which is actually part of the Power Functions module. Yes, I know the TV is kind of useless on that wall, but... hey, he wanted a TV so I gave him one :P So, how do you operate this thing? My fourth and final entry for the 2016 MOCathalon. Built for the County Fair category. The build features a fully functional ride, ice cream trailer with interior, ring toss game-stand, and a popcorn vendor. Plus lots of people enjoying the fair. Hello! I'd like to present my newest modular, which I completed late last year. This is my biggest Modular MOC to date and features three different business all under one roof: A book store, an ice cream parlor, and a music shop! Here's the overview of the building. At the street level, there is a music store facing south and an ice creamery facing east. Next to the ice cream shop is the entrance to the upstairs bookstore. The hippie was disappointed that there were no vegan options available. Inside the bookstore, where the mechanic is looking for a nice book on Eastern philosophy while the old man gets sucked in to his favorite spy novel. ] The employees are always helpful for those searching for that perfect book or to froth some milk for a nice hot latte to go with it. Some of the customers prefer their books to be read to them by a celebrity. The upstairs reading loft comes out to give access to the area below. After completing his purchase, the mechanic asked the bookstore girl out for ice cream, and they seem to have hit it off. "Weird Al" Yankovic was a little disappointed that the shop didn't carry accordions, but he did find a good deal on a new guitar. Meanwhile, the old man just can't put down that spy novel. I do have one minor confession! I used a non-Lego part (The BrickWarriors Spartan Shield) as a building decoration. I didn't realize it was a custom piece at the time of the build, having acquired it in a large bulk purchase a few weeks before. Being a purist when it comes to my MOCing, I've since removed and replaced it, but I just had to get that off my chest. Whew! There are plenty more pics in my Flickr folder! Thanks for looking!

~ The Winter Village Creamery ~ This local creamery has all your dairy needs. Milk, a wide variety of cheeses, butter, and... ice cream! Grandpa takes Sam and Suzy in for a treat and there are seven delicious flavours to choose from: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint, bubble gum, gold medal ribbon (my favourite ) and the flavour of the month: peppermint swirl. The stable houses the cow and goats that produce the milk. And of course, delivery is available. Here's a final look of the inside. Downstairs you'll find a stove, butter churn, shelve of cheeses, ice cream, a crate of milk bottles, and the cash register. The light brick lights up the selection of ice cream. Upstairs is a shelve for aging cheeses, an ice box for cold storage, and the milk manual with all the super secret recipes for making the best dairy products. Ice cream "machine," or ice cream truck? That's your choice in… Set Title: Ice Cream Machine Set #: 70804 Theme: The LEGO Movie Pieces: 344 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2014 Price at Release: USD 30 Just browse the pics? Flickr set INTRODUCTION Who doesn't like ice cream? And who doesn't like pink? Tell me, who doesn't like giant LEGO ice cream cones? The answer to all of those questions is, of course, only crazy people. I consider myself at least partially sane, so I indeed was thrilled with the prospect of a LEGO set involving ice cream, pink and a giant ice cream cone. Let's check it out! BOX As the 2-in-1 boxes go, this one if fairly fun. The colors really pop, and the model looks ok. The ice cream truck in the corner looks better, though. The back shows you a bigger picture of the very lovely ice cream truck, and also wants to make you think that flick-fires actually work and are fun. This box is actually a little fatter than the other 2-in-1s, for some reason. Our cast is Ice Cream Mike, Ice Cream Jo, and Cardio Carrie. I wonder if she's the same as blood-soked Carrie. All look fun. CONTENTS Mmmmm, plenty of pink. I like. Like all these 2-in-1s, three booklets: micromanager, flying machine, and truck. In all of these booklets, there are warnings about not shooting things in your eye. The ridiculous thing is that they usually show them twice for one missile, often in a row, like here! I think people actually deserve medals if you manage to shoot a flick fire all the way into your eye. There are a bunch of stickers, but they add character to the set. It seems like Octan runs absolutely everything in this film. MINIFIGURES These minifigures are all a lot of fun. We've gotten workout outfits in the collectible series, but this one is still nice. The ice cream outfits are great too, but sadly the white printing was too thin so the white on the torso doesn't match up with the legs. Sad. Carrie has a reverse face with a mouth shape pretty similar to Sharon Shoehorn. Nice though. Mike's face is great too. Everybody has simple back printing. Carrie has serious lats. Since it didn't show up well on the previous photos, I snapped a close-up of Carrie's face to show the little sweat drops. They're a lovely little detail. SET - MICROMANAGER No legs no love. This might be my least favorite of all of these, but it's still kind of cute. This one actually has more of a play feature, which makes it sacrifice more of the cute feature. So here it is: a mini version of a play feature that has shown up in a number of sets dating back to Vikings. Usually there's an actual launching mechanism, but this time you're just supposed to rapidly flick the missiles yourself. I tried it and… it actually works, using your thumb to pop them out. So I guess flick fires can work. SET - ICE CREAM MACHINE The flying machine leaves a number of useful pieces leftover. The big tubes are actually just general extras, and never used. It's actually a pretty fun plane. The pink pops, the ice cream details are nice, and the big cone is a great "weapon." It also looks enough like a truck that was randomly converted into a plane, which I like. It looks very cheerful. The color coordinated green and blue ice-cream shooters are cool. There's plenty to make me want to go pew-pew-pew as I swoosh it around. Got to have some tail lights on the back. I hope Mike is holding onto something tight, because otherwise he's going to zoom right out of the open back! He does have a nice big pole to hold onto. The minifigures even look like they're having a good time. SET - ICE CREAM TRUCK The truck model leaves even more leftovers. Basically, if you buy the set for the truck, you'll get some nice extra plates in great colors to add to your Friends collection. That's a fantastic looking truck right there. Nice and tall, and long, with a fantastic color scheme. We've never gotten a truck like this in City, and it's great! The giant ice cream cone on top using the drill piece is ingenious. Both sides are open for plenty of ice cream serving all around. The back has a window that just shows the ice cream vats inside, and has a bunch of lime studs for decoration. The tail lights are quite small and hidden down below. As you can see, the set comes with plenty of the new ice cream cone piece, though a lot of them are used for decoration. You could pull them down and serve them to people if you want, though. The inside has a little SNOTted freezer for popsicles, plus the soft serve vats and plenty of room for the figures. Great details. COMPLETE SET and CONCLUSION This is certainly my favorite of the 2-in-1s. The truck is superb, and nothing like what we get in City. The only issue is that the printing on the ice cream torsos is too thin, but it's not a deal-breaker. This is a fun one right here. Only the garbage truck to go to finish up the 2-in-1 sets!

I have begun work on my first modular building. It is currently under construction next to the Palace Cinema. The ground floor is open for business. The front Octan_Ice_Cream_01 Sitting beside the Cinema Octan_Ice_Cream_02 Jo serving customers Octan_Ice_Cream_03 Cold drinks are available as well. Octan_Ice_Cream_04 There is a small office behind the shop, and there will be an apartment above with access from the rear laneway. Comments and crits welcome as this is my first building moc!
