  1. Sour Prospects have indeed turned sour and revealed nothing but some solid stones for construction works. Fontonajo's men have set up a stone quarry and are now supplying Fuerte Unido on Isla de Victori. My very first attempt at LDD...
  2. "Get up, you sluggard! Eating lemons ain't what Fontonajo's payin' you for!", shouted the geologist. Prospecting on Isla de Victoria, near the settlement of Fuerte Unido, wasn't an easy task. The geologists were always in company of a guard. The fear of running into some random Mardierian squad was too high. They were looking for minerals. Iron, gold, silver. Anything, actually, that they could find. And if they didn't find anything, they might at least use the stones for their forts. If they found any adequate stones. Geology wasn't easy those days. It never was, actually. Island #: 11 Claimed by MardierNickname: Skaford HeightsGeographical Features: Mostly jungle on the inside, this larger island boasts an excellent natural bay on its south side at the Island's thinnest point. The north-east coast, however is very shallow, and rife with sandbars. The south-west coasts are rocky, but host naturally occurring groves of citrus fruit. In the center of the island towers a tall volcano that occasionally shakes the Island.Rumors: The Natives of this Island fear the deeper waters to the south. While they are more than happy to sail their catamarans in the northern shallow water, they refuse to do so on the southern coast.
  3. Fighting superstition was not their challenge. The Fontonajo geologists were well educated, knowing as much as any other scholar that there are no such things as sea serpents. Prospecting at the rocky cliffs of the island they called "La Sombra", in direct vicinity to the newly founded settlement of Trador, lead by brave MAESTRO pioneers, was not an easy task. The salt and moist air made their job tough, yet they expected to find some massively interesting ores. No doubt this was one of the more creative ways. In the Fontonajo Mining Headquarters they had already started about how to setup a real mine at the cliffs. Yet still they had to find some rare minerals first, to make those efforts even worth considering. At least the large northern bay of LaSombra where Trador was located as well gave them some protection from the weather. Island #: 13 Claimed by EslandolaNickname: The ShadowGeographical Features: This Island has a natural bay ideal for a trading post. The island is well guarded by steep rocky coasts on most sides, and the water is deep.Rumors: More than one sailor has independently reported seeing a massive black shadow in the sea circling around the island. The more suspicious of sailors suspect this is a sea monster, or sea monsters, lurking beneath the foam to swallow their ships whole, while the more academic postulate this could be a school of fish, indicating good fishing waters, or even a pod of whales, drawn to this island for unknown reasons. Nevertheless, sailors, and the natives, have avoided this island.
  4. Read leafs indicate rare metals. Oh of all the wonders the new world had to bring, this was one of the weirdest. Roquara Belosa was one of Fontonajo's leading geologists. With two assistants she had taken the task of going to Otoño and search for those metals. The Fontonajo Mining Ventures were going to expand. Rapidly.
  5. After Montoya's men had prospected for the finest minerals near King's Harbour on Cocovia and found none of those, they decided to join forces with the Fontonajo Mining Ventures to extract some of the finest granite from the mountains close to the prospecting scene. However due to other activities the Fontonajos could only send some men now. What they found were no longer the bare mountains ready for their stones to be cracked out, but rather a green wilderness. Fascinating how much two months of unhindered growth can do. "Armed" with knifes and machetes the men had to do lots of hard gardener's work to get rid of all the plants, before they could even start to set up their granite quarry. After some days they did, and now the fine granite will soon be available for all new inhabitants of King's Harbour.
  6. Joaquim Seramon Fontonajo had brought some ores from Berreli. Impulsive as he is he had immediately bought a claim where he thought there were some great minerals - only to find out that his ores were worthless. Román decided to set a Stone Quarry in the area and make it part of the Fontonajo Mining Ventures. The Quarry is located a few miles outside of Elysabethtown. This MOC was built from 99 pieces. This includes the baseplate and all equipment, even the bull's horns. However I counted minfigs (trousers, body, arms, hands, head, hair) as 1. I had wanted to give building with large prebuilt blocks and few bricks a try, and I think it turned out quite ok. Maybe some of you will also go for a 99-pieces-MOC?
  7. After setting up a mine on Ferro Azure the geologists of the Fontonajo family quickly realised that they had found what they were looking for: Iron!. Román Esteban Fontonajo then decided to immediately send Patrica da Mierda. Patrica was born as the third daughter of a nobleman in Namere, but decided at the age of 15 that her fortune should be in the new world. She got into the mining industry quite quickly, and due to her origin she was a talented leader. When Román got to know her he knew that she was the best person to help him get his mining ventures running. In Ferro Azure she took command of the first Fontonajo Iron Mine on the island, and leads with rigid regiment. She also hired some MCTC mercenaries to guard the mines and protect the workers. The mine is located in the hinterland of Salida Este! I liked the idea of just expanding my prospecting scene, so that's what I did. I really like the result, and think I will go that way for some of my prospecting and mining MOCs in the future as well.
