Murdoch17 posted a topic in LEGO Train Tech"I've been working on the railroad, all the live-long day!" This train consists of a 2-6-0+0-6-2 Double Mogul (Garratt-type) steam locomotive and five cars: - a (working!) crane car - depressed-center rail wagon - a (working!) ballast hopper - tool / crew car - caboose This train is easily expandable using official models, such as the backhoe digger on a flatcar from set 60098, and / or the road-n-rail truck and it's depressed center wagon from set 3677. The engine seen here pulls the Maintenance of Way train. This steam locomotive is a 2-6-0+0-6-2 Double Mogul (Garratt-type) steam engine. It was originally designed by Anthony Sava but with fake pistons and with small-size friction bearing wheels. I added working pistons and Big Ben Bricks medium flanged and blind drivers wheels as see here at Ben's website. In my model, gear wheels are used as stand in for the custom wheels that are not in LDD. The engine is available for purchase at @SavaTheAggie Bricklink store. The engine needs printed letter tiles with the railroad's initials "BRS" on the side of the boiler, while "3103" goes on the sides of the 1 x 4 bricks with side studs, placed on the four corners of the model near the pistons. Even with the added pistons, the engine easily can go around corners and switches. This model was inspired by a coal hopper on an older website called LGauge .com. I tunrned the old finger hinges into new pin-orientated ones and colored the car yellow to match the MOW paint scheme. The hopper's bottom door open and can dumpy 1 x 1 round plates / bricks onto the tracks for ballast. The rail-carrying depressed-center wagon has brick-built arms to secure the cargo of railroad track in place. This stream crane model was heavily inspired by Whoward69's instructions for a set of crane and match truck train cars. I modified the original model seen here. The crane car can move side to side or up and down with two sets of ropes to either raise / lower the hook or operate the boom. Several prints are missing from this car, including two of this four of these and two of this one. Please NOTE: I don't have the exact measurements for the two strings as they wasn't listed in said instructions. However, I think two of this string here should be long enough. This car is the tool car, carrying spikes, tie plates and track worker tools. (it really is empty) Two of this print go on the far side of this car. The car features two opening side doors, allowing for quick access to the inside. The caboose should feature printed letter tiles with the railroad's initials "BRS" on the middle of the car below the windows. Please know, the LDD will NOT be given out as the Garratt was not my design, and even though it is modified heavily by me to have pistons and four more wheels. However, Comments, Questions and Complaints are always welcome!!
