Happy new year everyone! Before Christmas I could finish my lastest project for my fictional Fire Department of the City of Farnheim. This huge new mobile command unit (MCU) replaces an old bus. These kind of trucks are common in cities with more than 400,000 residents here in Germany. Based on an regular truck chassis it has a typical boxed body that can be expanded at the passenger side to increase the room's space. Equipped with high end communication and radio features to handle huge incidents. I've build a five studs wide box to get the right scale for the expansion. The rest is classically 4wide. I attached most of the details to the roof, like an air condition, a few antennas, a satellite dish and a red flash light (that locates the command unit for others at scenes). Freshly arrived at the main fire station it got its first "very close inspection" by some of the firemen. Btw, I got the ideas mostly from here and here (German text version only). Hope you like it. Thanks for watching! Bright red regards, Maik aka Farnheim

I decided I needed a place to land my new Life Flight helicopter. The solution – build a fire department heliport. I've also posted links to a couple of new fire apparatus MOCs on my Flickr. Everything is based on real fire apparatus. Let me know what you think.

As a request of lightningtiger I want to take the chance to show you a few pictures of my small fire station I built in 2011. It's a mixture of the 2009 official headquarter (#7945) with a few more realistic extras based on a classic baseplate. A little garage extension on the left side completes the look. As you can imagine, this station shall not be a headquarter, just a small institution placed in the suburbs. There are only an engine and a ladder for fire prevention. The engine is also equipped with apparatus for technical asstistance. The little car is for every day deliveries between the different fire stations. An old school oberhead projector I put some more more details on it like the exhaust gas hoses or a big foam nozzle There is room for two big trucks The small garage A neat little garden for recreation The fire apparatus And these are some of guys who are on duty. Well, the ballons are in german language only, 'cause they are part of a comic... Hope, you'll have fun watching these pictures. C&C very welcome! Best regards, Farnheim

Hi all, another more or less unique apparatus is a so called Turbo Extinguisher. I got inspired by a huge fire in a city in my area last summer, when several fire departments from different cities were helping out to fight the flames. They were also supported by a plant fire brigade, that sent such a monster truck. The main extinguisher unit is a twin jet engine combined with big nozzles, that vaporises water into a massive spray reaching high and/or long distances. The effect is higly efficient. Well, here's my 4wide conversion of this monster. Don't be bothered by the paint scheme (with the slight part of white). I changed it a bit afterwards. So it fits better to the trucks of my plant fire brigade. The last two pics show the actual paint scheme. For a comparison and further details, you can have a closer look at the manufacturs website. As a sidenote: The FD of Hamburg once wanted to buy such a truck, cause of the high risk potential of the international sea port. But its costs couldn't ever be financed. Hope you like it. Thanks for watching. Farnheim
