  1. The pumpkin harvest is in full swing in Fabuland. Pumpkin Harvest by Ids de Jong, on Flickr
  2. Hello! I have been looking at the new little guys in Dreamzzz and got to thinking about all the "odd" figures over the years since the Minifigure was introduced. From 4 Junior's Jack Stone, Basic & Fabuland, the variety of figures from Belville, Technic and the Bionicle/Hero Factory minifig scaled characters... Really, from A to Xalax. There has been a lot of the non standard figures (I liked the Elves Goblins, Rock Monsters from Power Miners and the Game board minis quite a lot also). So, opinions? Like 'em, Love 'em? Loath the figures appearing at all? Just to nip anything in the bud: Minidolls can count in here but after so many consistent years in production I would say they are not odd figures when compared with all the others I have mentioned above. Figures that have appeared for a while, even just one theme, and are now gone.
  3. I just realized there's a subforum for comics, how cool is that? I'd like to post this thing I'm making. To be continued!
  4. Look out Fabuland! Ernie Elephant has a new ride! Gotta duck out of his way if you don't want to get hit! This is built in the style of Neo-Fabuland, which I found from Harris Bricks. I love Fabuland. I don't even have any sets, just the figures (look at what this website turned me into haha). But I've been wanting to do a fun Fabuland MOC and this was it. The left building is also a neo-mod of 3674 Bonny Bunny's New House. Also, this will be at Brickworld Chicago 2022! Poor Copmike Enjoy! And as always comments and criticism are most welcome!

    MOC: Fabuland Deora

This is a build I had an idea to create, thinking I should make a car having spent the past few months making larger structures and buildings. A little creativity refresh for me. So of course, wanting to build a nice little car I decided to make a Fabuland style Deora. A staple of the Hot Wheels line-up and a retro design I love. Keeping it simple for myself!

    Billy Goat's Steamboat

I designed and built my latest Lego vehicle, “Billy Goat’s Steamboat,” for Eurobricks’ bonus collaboration, “The Great GOAT Boat Race,” displayed at Brickworld Chicago 2019. The steamboat is my first boat MOC since childhood. There were no rules for this collab except that it had to be a boat featuring a goat. The hull was modified from an earlier MOC, Joker’s Blimp (lower right), but in place of cross axle supports inside, I used 11x11 quarter gears (upper right), anchored apart by a couple layers of plates to hold the shape. Underneath there are wheels to easily move the boat, however the total weight kept Billy Goat’s boat from gathering enough steam to move from the pair of independently rotating PF-enabled paddle wheels. Oh well, such is the the typical pitfall of designing entirely in LDD prior to testing with real bricks. Billy Goat’s Steamboat was nominated for Best Sea Vessel at Brickworld Chicago 2019.
  8. Hey everyone, here's a new thing I'm making: To be continued (soon!)... EDIT: I just realized there's a subforum for comics, I'll post this there, maybe a mod can remove this one. Sorry about that!

[MOC] The Last Place on Earth

I posted this in Sci-Fi but isn't it technically Fabuland? More pictures on Flickr!

    Fabuland Elephant Sculpture

Hello, I made a sculpture of the Fabuland Elephant figure. I have created instructions as well, which I was considering selling online for a small fee. Does anyone have experience of selling instructions online, and have any advice?
  11. Hi all :) I have these Fabuland items for anyone interested. What you see is what you get. William Walrus is unfortunately unable to stand and it's all wobbly. I will ship via tracked post with proper packing. I will trade with Technic parts, City sets or pretty much anything as a matter of fact. If you don't want to trade, you may through Paypal. Just make an offer :) https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=3794-1 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=3791-1/ Thanks for looking and have a nice summer! (Those who are on the northern part of our planet, others should enjoy the snow!)
  12. Number – 3269 Name – Barney Bear (Bruno Bear) Theme – FABULAND Year – 1981 Minifigs – 1 Pieces – 16 Price – Price paid unknown; original MSRP unknown. Currently £9.23-£10.26/ $14.00-$15.72/ €10.71-€12.02 for used sets on Bricklink or £39.49-£64.78/ $59.91-$98.26/ €45.81-€75.14 for MISB sets on Bricklink. Links: Brickset, Bricklink, Peeron. The Box The characteristic FABULAND background provides the setting to display Barney Bear and his car. There aren't that many green pieces in FABULAND, mostly keeping to red, yellow, blue, black and white, and as a result these colours stand out vibrantly against the light green FABULAND background. The back of the box has the characteristic 'catalogue' pose for Barney, as he clutches his wrench to advertise supplies for serial killers everywhere. And he looks so innocent! The other pictures show him zooming off into the distance, and pretending to have a flat tyre to lay in wait for another innocent victim, still clutching his weapon of choice. Noticeably absent, however, are any pictures of alternative builds. None. Nada. Not one. The sides of the box have identical pictures of Barney fixing an engine the only sensible way; by hitting it with a wrench. One side has unfortunately suffered a little damage from a long lost shop sticker, and the box is a little battered and bruised from the passage of time, but nothing too terrible. Even here on the bottom of the box, the last side to have pictures on it, there are no pictures of alternative builds. Instead we have a candid shot of Barney taking a comfort break and clearing up the age-old question of what bears do in the woods. Oh, and there's a nice picture of the car, too. The Box Contents The Instructions As always with a FABULAND set, the instruction booklet is a small piece of folded paper, with a charming hand drawn picture of the set and its figure on the front. FABULAND can be seen sitting on a hilltop in the distance. Barney looks innocent and adorable clutching his trusty wrench and positioned next to his getaway car. Another lovely feature is that the instructions for these early sets are given as a cartoon, showing Barney building his own car. Admittedly this is easy to do in a set with only a few parts, but it's such a lovely way to illustrate (quite literally) how to build the set. Another regular feature is the multilingual introduction to the main character of the set. This gives the Fabufig some personality and gives you an idea of how he or she fits in in the town. As ever here's a mish-mash translation of what's said: "This is Bruno bear. He is always friendly, helpful and reliable. Or genuine and sincere and always ready to give help." There is usually a hand drawn picture of FABULAND too, and this is actually different from the one seen in 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry from just 2 years previously. For a start there are far more Fabulanders around, most notably a panda careering across the hilltop with a crazy monkey clinging onto the attached ladder. In addition to the instruction leaflet, there's a little advertising pamphlet too, again a usual thing in these sets. Like the other pictures, this front picture is also new, and shows much less odd behaviour than that seen in 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry, except Bonnie Bunny looks like she's been caught in some bad act, though. And I have to wonder what the cat and the lamb are doing on the top of the hospital.. Inside this pamphlet there's another, different view of FABULAND displayed in sets, plus small pictures of the sets themselves, as no potential for advertising should be wasted (which is fair enough, really). If you looks carefully at the larger picture, you can see that many eyes are drawn by Chester Chimp's antics on top of the ladder. Those crazy chimps. On the other side of the pamphlet, in amongst all the other pictures of sets, is yet another sweet picture of a little boy and a little girl building FABULAND together. And they seem to be having fun together. Equally. The last little bit of this pamphlet is a small cartoon. For 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry we had Charlie Crow in the rain, but here we can see Perry Panda getting annoyed with his lazy companion Chester Chimp, who's content to lounge on the job. I adore these little cartoons, although it's a little weird that the cartoons themselves don't relate to the actual set. The Parts There are only 16 parts here, so not much to choose from, really. The wrench is available in loads of sets (200 or so) and mostly it's basic bricks, however, if you want the printed FABULAND brick, then this is the only set you can find it in. Additionally the curved roof is only available once each in red, blue and yellow, and obviously therefore this is the only set containing this part in this colour. Furthermore, the yellow window frame is only available in this colour at all, and only in three sets; the same other sets as before, namely 3635 Bonnie Bunny's Camper, and 3634 Charlie Crow's Carry-All. So, out of 16 pieces, 3 of them are quite rare. Not bad, really. Minifigure Hello Barney Bear, who may be a psycho killer who draws innocent Fabulanders into the countryside with his fancy car and clubs them to death with his wrench. He looks so adorable and innocent, but we know what dangers lurk beneath. Barney Bear has conveniently found himself an alibi, by appearing also in 3670 Service Station. Clever, very clever. The Build I've recreated the building steps shown in the instructions (well, as best I can with real LEGO, the instructions were drawn and subject to artistic license). Barney carefully places his precious printed grille piece at the front of the chassis, with a couple of 2x4 bricks forming the bonnet and engine. Barney next places the FABULAND vehicle door pieces on either side, otherwise he won't be able to get in and out of his car. Time to build up the back of the car; the boot or trunk depending on where you live. It's easily comprised of 2x3 and 2x4 bricks. Next thing to do is to hoist the windscreen into position. It's a heavy part for a little bear, but Barney's been working out. Then all Barney has to to is pop the curved roof piece into place, grab his trusty wrench and he's good to go! Doesn't he look adorable? From the back you can see that the rear of the car is also decorated with a yellow 1x2 brick, which makes it look like Barney has packages stacked at the back of his car. That little yellow brick makes a lot of sense there, from a design perspective; it's clear that something is needed in that spot. Having recently reviewed 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry, I thought it would be interesting to compare the two. In only a couple of years the boxy feel of 329 has evolved into a smoother and more rounded vehicle in this set. The main differences between the two are afforded by the addition of the curved (and printed) FABULAND grille piece, and the curved roof piece. You could argue that the moulded roof removed some building steps, but really it's just replacing putting together three 1x4 bricks and a 4x6 plate. So here's Barney with his pride and joy, posed as he is on the box front. It's a cute little car, brimming with the FABULAND aesthetic, which often seems to me to be based on vehicles from the 1920's. The set number, and the reappearance of the bear, suggest that this was a sort of update of 329, and although 329 is a fun model, when it comes down to it the shape of this vehicle appeals more. Conclusion Design: 9/10 As I've mentioned, this car is classic FABULAND style, and some people really love that, and some don't. It is a personal thing, but I am a fan of FABULAND, and this car is a beautiful representation of this style. The curved FABULAND pieces - the chassis, doors, grille and roof, form the entire design here really, but I like the 1920's aesthetic, playfully recreated with bright colours. Parts: 9/10 There aren't many pieces at all, so to find two specific FABULAND pieces only found in this set, is really quite remarkable. I'm surprised, given how early this was in FABULAND's overall release, that neither of these pieces were reused at any point. Aside from the FABULAND specific parts, the others are really just basic bricks in basic colours. Minifigs: 8/10 Barney's another bear, and he's cute; there's absolutely no denying that. He has the adorable first-generation eyes and brown bears are pretty limited in FABULAND. Although the mould itself is used often, Barney appears only here and in 3670 Service Station (with Peter Panda Bear, who looks more like a black bear than a panda). Barney's brown bear brother is Bernard bear who appears in 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry (seen above, and he's not necessarily Barney's brother). Build: 8/10 There aren't many parts, and they don't take long to put together, but it's still fun, not least because the instructions themselves are adorably displayed. By adding character to the instructions, character is added to the build. There is also something exciting about building a 30 year old LEGO set for the first time, too. Playability: 8/10 As a car, this model provides full zoomability function, and the model is sturdy enough to withstand the fiercest zooming. Having doors that open and providing Barney with an accessory allows for more scene-setting. He can fix his car, club unsuspecting victims over the head and drag them into the passenger seat and drive away. Endless fun! Price: 7/10 Really the prices currently on Bricklink are pretty high. As always, it will depend on how much you want the set itself ano/or its pieces. There are a few rare pieces and it is a cute model with a lesser seen Fabufig, so the lower end of the used prices isn't unreasonable. You may see this set going cheap on e-bay (or a local equivalent) in which case it may well be available for much less. Overall 82% This is a charming car which is beautifully representative of the FABULAND theme. It's fun, with a cute little bear who even has an accessory (in fact there were two wrenches in the box) and the model is nicely curved and smooth, but still with studs visible. It's an enjoyable build, and the presence of rare parts makes it more desirable. If you're a FABULAND enthusiast then you'll enjoy this set. Thank you for reading, comments are always very welcome. 13. Many many years ago I enjoyed playing World of Warcraft for year or two. For some reason, every christmas, I get into my holiday spirit by thinking back on the cosy joy it was to wander around in WOW exploring and just enjoying the landscape. I so recall the first time I arrived at Ironforge, and that´s the reason it had to be part of my Cube layout project. I hope you like it. Grinding materials for leather skills: A place in WOW I used a lot of time, was at what I recall as a bay, where turtles were all over the place. They dropped a lot of usefull materials for either getting better at leatherworking skills, or could easily be sold at the auction house at Ironforge. This baylike area, led to several dungeons that were handy for getting experience points, and advance in the game. I sooo loved this area, and I can still get all relaxed thinking back on it. Running around, enjoying the music, just relaxing and not having to rush anything. Dungeon leading to Ironforge: Arriving at Ironforge: Ironforge is build into a huge mountain, surrounded by snow and forest. This were an ideal place to run around during christmas when no snow were outside. First sight: At Ironforge one would expect nothing less than drunk guards and huge statues. 3 more cubes for my Cube layout project: So, three more cubes have been added for the project, well actually its five, as two more cubes have been "landscaped" to make an "endcap" for the build. So, finally have an endcap ready. Now I can progress on all edges of the build, finally getting one full loop of tracks for the train to roll on. This is how it looks by now. Another great thing, is that Im finally ready to begin building on "top" of the whole of this area. The Doctor who and the "turtle bay". View of the Diablo cube next to Ironforge: I was really worried as how the Diablo cube would look next to the Ironforge cube. Turned out great ! Two studs width with some overhang made the transition work quite well. Now, the backside of Ironforge has not been finished yet. This build turned out soooo tricky, as I need a sort of three way effect, using the Diablo cube and this for sort of a camoflage to make the train run through. So as you might have noticed their is quite a few places where the rockwork ain´t top notch yet. But that´s yet another great thing about this project. I can fly between themes, building what I feel like, whenever I want to. Honestly though, I need a break from rockwork right now, this has teared me apart. Everytime I moved something a bit, the whole build moved in random directions, and it took Me forever to figure out, how to make it look "big" considering Its placed on a 34x34 stud base. But for now Im happy with how it turned out. On the backside of Ironforge im gonna build Stormwind, another great city of World Of Warcraft, using the backside of Ironforge as sort of a forced perspectiv, making up micro build skyes and towers ( I think, have only made a test build). But that´s the plan for now. On top of the diablo cube, Im planning a boss fight. I mean, what is Diablo without a boss fight. And I have a special one in mind ! Installments planned: Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - ( Can be found here ). Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - Small continuation - ( Planning ) Doctor Who - T.A.R.D.I.S train ( offcourse :P ) - ( Planning ) Fabuland - Fabuland settlement ( Building ) Matrix reloaded ( building ) Matrix revolutions ( planning - somewhat testing build ) Diablo - Part one - A shortcut to the black templars treasure - ( Can be found here ) World Of Warcraft - Arriving at Ironforge ( This one ) World Of Warcraft ( a collaboration of Diablo, Baldurs gate, World of warcraft ) - ( building ) War against the Cthoor. Call of Cthulhu. The LEGO movie. Please do leave comments and questions. And I hope you enjoyed the build. KlodsBrik
  14. Doctor Who - Season 9 - Episode 12 - Hell Bent: This is Clara's T.A.R.D.I.S ( Well they sort of stole it from the Timelord's on Galifrey ). My first build since I had a fire way to close to me. I've just recently gotten back into building after having spend countless hours washing and cleaning my LEGO collection ( and im still not totally finished ). So this is the first installment of my project I like to call "Cube Layout project". This is all about having fun, and for me to get back into building. Before the fire I was caught up in a lot of other project's as i got my first LEGO train, so I never got to build a full layout. Now it's time for that ! Cube Layuot Project: All these cubes will fit together for a bigger layout being 34x34 studs. This will enable me to put a baseplate on top and have a 1 plate edge surrounding it in order to be economical with my brick usage. This is not the layout as planned. Just a collection of some of the cubes already buil't. Now a bit of what I have planned for to have fun here, and getting into building again. Installments planned: Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - ( This one ). Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - Small continuation - ( Planning ) Doctor Who - T.A.R.D.I.S train ( offcourse :P ) - ( Planning ) Fabuland - Fabuland settlement ( Building ) Matrix reloaded ( building ) Matrix revolutions ( planning - somewhat testing build ) Diablo - Part one - A shortcut to the black templars treasure - ( Can be found here ) World of warcraft - Arriving at Ironforge ( Can be found here ) World Of Warcraft ( a collaboration of Diablo, Baldurs gate, World of warcraft ) - ( building ) War against the Cthoor. Call of Cthulhu. The LEGO movie. Now, everything is up for change, as this is all about having fun. To me it's all about having a train layout finally, with some great looking surroundings. I will ad and rebuild every installment as i get further in the progress to fit everythig together. So this build is not yet finished. Now, i have a feeling that this will be the next finished build. So here's a teaser ... Where will this tunnel lead ? So glad to be back. KlodsBrik.
  15. Hidden entrance or just an old collapsed mountain side ? Don't take the rockwork here to serious as the top of this cube wont be finished till the surrounding cubes are done. Still the entrance is here ! Spider Attack !! No problem for a level 5 wizard ! Dead spiders equals loot ! The treaure ain't out of reach at all ! Diablo interface: Diablo cube - First installment: Again - The top of this cube still needs a lot of work. Will be done when I have the surrounding cubes at hand at somewhat fitted to this one. Now, I actually thought that this would have been the next finished installment of my Cube Layout Project: However, once I started to build the Diablo interface, I could'nt stop. I Really wanted to have the Diablo interface as my first installment for the Diablo, world of Warcraft and Baldurs gate installment's I have planned for this project. I also needed to know how many studs high it had to be, in order to fit the surrounding cubes with the track layout in order to make it all fit. Now, I dont even know what will be the next installment. My Cube layout project consist of cubes 34x34 studs. This in order to be able to put a baseplate on top and still have an one plate edge, in order to be economical with my bricks. Also it makes it quite easy to adjust hight of every cube as i move along with the project. Now a bit of what I have planned for, to have fun here, and getting back into building again. Installments planned: Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - ( Can be found here ). Doctor Who - Gas and Snacks - T.A.R.D.I.S - Small continuation - ( Planning ) Doctor Who - T.A.R.D.I.S train ( offcourse :P ) - ( Planning ) Fabuland - Fabuland settlement ( Building ) Matrix reloaded ( building ) Matrix revolutions ( planning - somewhat testing build ) Diablo ( a collaboration of Diablo, Baldurs gate, World of warcraft ) - ( this one ) World of warcraft - Arriving at Ironforge ( Can be found here ) World of warcraft ( a collaboration of Diablo, Baldurs gate, World of warcraft ) - ( building ) War against the Cthoor. ( Planning ) Call of Cthulhu. The LEGO movie. Who know's what's next ? ! Hope you like it. KlodsBrik
  16. Hello again! In April, i presented to you my first moc. Since then, i managed to acquire some Fabuland parts, so i made some modifications. Here you go, hope you like it! 17. This is my first MOC with colours, normally I build with white Lego but i got inspired from Carebear's Kitty Kat House. I wanted to combine the playfulness of Fabuland with some of the elegance from the modular houses and make a little scene. It was so much fun to build. I am happy for tips and critique. More pics on flickr: https://www.flickr.c...8689@N05/albums Edward Elephant’s House and the Car accident It was a beautiful day in Fabuland! Edward Elephant was working in the garden and his wife Lisa Lamb was hanging out the laundry. Lisa's old friend Boris Bulldog was trying to catch the rare Red spider that had been seen in the area for the first time in fifty years. The sun was shining and they were all happy as Edward's twin brother, Edward Fisherman, was going to visit them this afternoon. Suddendly, everybody heard a crash and a scream! Edward Fisherman: No, officer, I wasn't speeding! I was drivng slowly and then, BAAAM, this guy came out of nowhere. I had no chance to stop. Police officer: Inspector Dogge, did you find anything? Inspector Dogge: Yes, I have clear evidence that this is no random cosplayer. The shield is made of a Vibranium iron alloy and it can only be Captain America himself under that car. Police officer: Then I will not even file a report, nobody will come looking for him. Inspector Dogge: Are you crazy? They will send Black Widow and she's going to turn Fabuland upside down looking for Captain! Police officer: Haven't you heard? He's been a Hydra agent all the time! Nobody will miss him. Inspector Dogge: No, no, that was a joke! He is not Hydra and he is still everybody's hero. Police officer: A joke? But that is not fun at all! Inspector Dogge: No, I know, but those guys seem to like those kind of jokes. Later on Captain woke up and everybody continued their day in a happy mood. It’s Fabuland after all. One last pic from a bird’s perspective

    [MOC] Fabuland Office

Hello! I do not have many bricks, because i am a minifig collector, but i love Fabuland- so i wanted to build something for Frank Fox (my Fabu SigFig/ mini- me). This is what i came up with. Planning to do more Fabuland. [I didn't make a MOC in the past few years. Some years ago i remember creating some kind of pirate ship, but other than that i only built stuff more than ten- fifteen years ago. When i was a child i mainly built spaceships.] The original version: IMG_20160401_110852 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr IMG_20160401_111102 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr The updated version: IMG_20160806_103110 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr IMG_20160806_103324 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr IMG_20160806_103228 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr

    FABULAND Castle

Here are some pics from my FABULAND Castle display at Brickworld Ft. Wayne last weekend. I hope to continue to expand on this display for Chicago. It was amusing to me how many kids were offended or "creeped out" by the FABULAND figs. Or, as they put it, "those weird animal people." A slight majority of people wanted to know what it was. Sometimes they meant, "Where did the figures come from?" Some asked if they were Mega-Blok. But, I was surprised by how many people expected it to be something. And this is true of all displays I've brought to conventions. If it's not an instantly recognizable license or theme, people need to know what it is I'm representing. There's little room for new, imaginative creations in some people's world views. Well, enjoy and please feel free to leave feedback. Thanks.

    Windmill in the skies

Gilbert Goat built his windmill on a large rock floating in the sky, so that he could catch more of the wind. He uses a balloon to travel up and down to the village when he needs to. I always wanted to try buiding a floating rock, and it was when I acquired a bunch of trans clear technic beams that I had the idea of trying to use them as water. The rock is quite large and heavy, and both times I've displayed this, everyone comments that they think it's going to fall over. During building it almost fell over several times as I figured out how to make it stable, but it's quite well anchered now, even though it tends to lean to one side, and changes what side it leans to when I put on or take off the windmill :P It's also funny how parents are terrified to let their kids touch it, unlike anything else I've ever displayed... The funny thing is you can actually push it a bit, and it will wobble a bit back and forth, but not fall over And a horizontal vertical () video of the windmill spinning: Sorry
