Location: Forring - F03 Tags: Spaceship The return Bigger things are happening Interlude New units So it is true. John is not dead. Well he is in body, but not in mind. This morning he contacted Zaael, he needs legs. If it was anyone else contacting him, he would have laughed at this request. It was not anyone else however, so Zaael started designing. Now the design was done and he had to pick up the needed parts, before setting course to Forring. Picking up parts was also the perfect cover. As per John's request this mission and meeting was to be covert and kept a secret at all costs. For this occasion Zaael was going to fly the new Gemini class. A highly maneuverable spaceship. The adjustable wings allow for a vertical liftoff, swift atmospheric flight and interstellar travel. Asteroid fields are an easy obstacle when flying in this Gemini class ship.

Location: Forring - F03 Tags: Land Vehicle The return Bigger things are happening Interlude - Kathleen Kelly is in Love New units My name is Gerard Connor and this is the AG Radio news. The recent disappearance of an Octan Corp operative by the name of Kathleen Kelly, who was stationed on Forring, was investigated by the Octan Criminial Investigation Department. During the investigation an e-mail came to light. This e-mail together with the rest of the case ended up at senior management. The decision was made to send out 100 Recon Units to all parts of the planet. Their official mission is to find Kathy, but our source tells us their off-the-records-mission is to find and eliminate any alien lifeforms they encounter, because aliens are bad for business. This is yet another report of alien activity on a planet where Octan Corp has settled and of which Octan Corp has always denied the existence of any intelligent alien lifeforms. Beware if you're on Forring and strolling around in the forest. You can encounter one of the many Recon Units. You can recognize such a unit by the recon droid accompanied by a heavily armed Octan soldier on a speeder. On to MANTIS news... there is no news, which in itself is news. MANTIS' recent activities are scarce. One can only imagine they found a new galaxy. I am sure Kawashita and Octan spies are on the case. Greater Drigo was finally taken by Kawashita. My new job is awesome, Octan is the best! This job is the best in the galaxy, I am really cut out for this. I like the solitary feel this gives. On your own on a strange planet, you know I like being alone. This is me on my Octan Corp Light Transport Speeder! The selfie drone you and dad gave me comes in really handy! xD Don't get me wrong, I like my colleagues, but truth be told, I like being alone better. At least so I thought. Mom... I am in love! <3 Since two weeks I am assigned to Forring. I am responsible for getting light equipment and supplies from the mayor Awesomnium foundry to the mines and vice versa. The route takes me through a dense forest. And this is were I met him, I almost ran him over when he crossed my path. He lives here!! On Forring, can you believe that?!? I thought we were alone here, hee hee. Mom he is beautiful and sweet and strong and awesome. <3<3 I think you will like him. I don't have a picture of him yet. Location: Forring - F03 Tags: Land Vehicle - The Return - The Scavenge Hunt - Requested Repairs - Driving Home - Meeting the Family - New Parts (part 1) - The Chase Begins (part 2) - Setting the Trap (part 3) - Unknown Caller (part 4) - Relaying Orders (part 5) (This build is related to the type of team mentioned in Relaying Orders) Peacekeeper Teams are designated by the call-sign "zero-X" where X is a number. Each team is build up by a couple of standard units. Then each planet has specific units fit for the planet they are peacekeeping. On Forring the specific unit is a GW3.01. This unit is a swift walker equipped by a stun ray and an EMP pulser to incapacitate any hostile unit in the blink of an eye.

Location: F03 Forring Tags: Land Vehicle, Space Vehicle, Civil Building, Science Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // While Dr. Allison and I were taking a tour of one of the Farr-tes advanced scientific research facilities we were awaiting the return of ED-208. He had received a full overhaul and we were told to expect him via one of the mini-ships Octan uses for robot delivery. The ships aren't very spacious and lack food and restrooms, but they are very efficient and reusable. The lab was very advanced and had access to vast computing power. In one of their experiments they were superheating Awesomnium into a gas to see how it behaved and then were going to try combining that with other elements to see what the result was. Mike was working in the small updraft lab which prevented any vapors from escaping without being hermetically sealed. They weren't running any experiments at the moment so he was able to show off the lab and the various features. I'll definitely have to make sure we get some like this installed on the Axle! Location: F03 Forring Tags: Land Vehicle, Space Vehicle, Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // The Aeolus recovered the Octan ship and were able to retrieve the pilot. Sadly the pilot wasn't in great shape. Physically he seemed relatively ok, but mentally he was struggling. As an executive of Octan I was quite concerned with his health and safety, Dr. Allison seemed interested in him as a test case. Based on logs we determined his name was Joel Zimmerman, however, all he would say is "Can you hear the screams?" The Farr-tes said it seemed likely that he had developed a minor case of Spontaneous Space Madness. They said that with some sedation and rest he would most likely be fine. Luckily they had human medical knowledge and a facility on planet that could help him. We have already been fortunate to have an alliance with them! Extra Pics:

Location: F03 Forring Tags: Land Vehicle, Space Vehicle, Civil Building, Science Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // We were taken to the Farr-tes main engineering research facility on Forring to see some of their newest projects. It was an exciting time as we were given complete access and were able to ask any questions we wanted. The Farr-tes are a very open and forthcoming people, they really don't hold back. Dr. Allison was looking at one of their new energy producing units that is still under construction. She seemed very impressed and I could see from the twinkle in her eye that many new ideas were forming. I can't wait to hear what she came up with. She had already seen their mobile graviton detection "cart". It was on a track that lead to an isolation room which allowed for the sensitive equipment to more finely tune into detecting the particles. I was being given a chance to look over their magnetic impulse engines used primarily in smaller vehicles. Because they were non-polluting it meant that they were best suited for their underground existence. The power output was strong, but the main draw was the instant high-torque. Even the waste heat was fairly small and easily managed. One issue they were trying to overcome was that the units did malfunction sometimes and end up in a runaway situation. The good news is that the characteristic hum would suddenly get very quiet, so you knew it could get deadly if they went silent. Sadly our visit was cut short as we were notified that the Farr-tes Regional Transport Ship Aeolus had informed the local Farr-tes naval control that a distress signal had been detected from an Octan ship. We were given access to a communication device and the message was the standard Octan distress signal for our smaller ships: "Greetings, this automated message is from Octansoft on behalf of Octan Pilot. It appears there has been a problem and currently there are zero pilots able to command the ship. We are requesting your assistance in rendering aid. Thank you and have an Octan day!" Extra Pics:

Y’know, I have this horrible feeling I’ve forgotten something… This is so exciting! A new intelligent alien species! Yeah! Alright nerds, don’t get too excited. You’re here to learn quietly – when the aliens get here, let me do the talking. You scientists aren’t properly trained in PR. But how are we supposed to study the aliens without talking to them? I don’t care. Octan needs new allies – I don’t want you offending them by asking how many kidneys they have, or whatever. AHHHH! What the-? Where did that come from?! <Do not be alarmed, humans.> That voice… it’s in my head! <Yes. We speak directly by thought.> Uh, Sal, do you think it can read our minds? Probably not… still, better keep your mind blank. That should be easy for you. Hey! Heh heh heh. Greetings from Octan Corporation! We hope to begin a profitable relationship with your race. May we ask what you call yourself? <Our name is a concept that your minds cannot understand. From your limited perspective, ‘the Five’ would be an appropriate approximation.> Hahaha, it thinks Octan are too stupid to understand numbers! ‘The Five’. My apologies, but is that the name of your race, or the name of you the individual? <It is… challenging… to explain in a way you can understand. Let us tell you the story of our race.> Ugh, I can tell this is going to take a while. <This planet was not always the toxic wasteland that you see around you.> Wait, what? <In ancient times it was a simpler place. Five species lived here peacefully. Over the millennia we grew advanced. But then a cataclysmic event occurred and the atmosphere changed. Dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of new species arose. Location: F03 Tags: Land Vehicle, Spying Ok, but... just explain it to me one more time... Unbelievable! This plan is like spying 101, I don't understand how you're not getting it. I've hacked Octan's computers to trick them into thinking they’ve detected a prisoner transport. They’re going to come after you thinking they’re rescuing one of their guys. Right… Redsyn here is one of our best drivers – he’ll lead them on a merry chase but will eventually let you be ‘rescued’. By using the tracking device we implanted in you we’ll find out where their base is when they take you back there. Simple! Uh… ok, I think I understand now. But why not use an actual Octan prisoner? I have… other uses… for the real prisoners. Unless you’d like to trade places with them? No sir! I thought not… But won’t they realise I’m not actually from Octan? No, they’ll never suspect it. I thought you said this was obvious, like spying 101… Don’t worry, our forces will show up well before Octan has time to find you out. This plan is foolproof! Wait… To be continued! It's from Wick, WICK! Is he back? Z answers the call and after some welcome backs and some chatting Wick tells him he found a beacon which needs fixing and new programming. Wick thinks it's just the task for Zaael. Having accepted this task Z sets out to the coordinates Wick gave him. Location: F03 Forring Tags: Science, Land Vehicle, Space Vehicle, Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // I found myself utilizing the data we gathered last week to try and put our theories into practice. It seemed a little weird that as the currently highest ranking scientist in Octan that I would have to do so much field work myself, but our CEO pombe said that we all needed to contribute. He was also excited to have me use one of Bruce Vayne's new space ship designs. I said it looked more like an old Earth railway car but he insisted it was a highly sophisticated piece of machinery. Though I wasn't filled with confidence when pombe said: "After about 7 Alien Annihilators Bruce came up with the idea for this thing!" Surprisingly it seemed to work though and I was able to find some concentrated pockets of Awesomnium. ED-208 was sent ahead to secure a Mantis lab we had discovered while Dr. Allison was utilizing a new speeder design. Given the state of war between Octan and Mantis she was using a more subtle design on the speeder than was typical. It was a very fast and nimble layout, so I told her since ED-208 was not with her and the speeder being unarmed that she should keep the throttle open just in case. I guess she likes going fast because she said the vibrations from the speed were exhilirating. The Mantis lab seemed to be an experimental lab designed to enhance plant life with various Awesomnium soil and water. They also appeared to be using various lighting sources to try and maximize growth. CEO pombe instructed me that he had numerous uses for this technology and that he hoped we could acquire any scientific advancements and that any gains that had been discovered should be reported to him personally. Immediately. I'm not sure why, but he said Bruce Vayne would be very interested also and that he and Bruce would need a lot of Oreos and Doritos. I guess they were going to be trying some new recipe because he said there would be a lot of baking happening. Extra Pics:

Typically used for hull repairs to capital ships around asteroid fields, but deployed against the Zoid fleet on F03 to secure safe passage for humanoid prisoners on board. Location: Forrin - F03 Tags: Land Vehicle, Engineering Previously: - The Return Zaael found John Hannibal at the secret hideout of the Jurinians. The CEO was occupied trying on dresses, so John took the responsibility to welcome Zaael back. John and Z shook hands and John brought Z up to speed about the recent developments, strategic plans and other important, classified, information. John told Z Octan was planning something on Forring for which a lot of mechs are going to be needed. Zaael's most pressing task was to scavenge Jurin II for useful mech parts and take them to Forring to build mechs for the other Octan members. After their meeting John set course to Forring and Zaael made his way back to his shuttle where he had the perfect speeder for this scavenge hunt: The OC.tr0m, a heavy duty speeder. After collecting loads of useful parts and loading up the shuttle Zaael set course to Forring. Having arrived there Z took his speeder and made his way to the Octan base on F03. There he unloaded the speeder and started building the first mechs for the battle to come.

Location: F03 - Forring Tags: Land Vehicle, Exploration Back on Forring with a new assignment. There are several areas of the forest on this planet that have gone unexplored by M.A.N.T.I.S.. It's time to learn more about this planet. Several of us have been sent out in M.A.N.T.I.S. XT Core 7 Gorilla Exo Suits to navigate the dense forest areas. Several hours after departing I began to discover a path through the forest where many of the trees have been downed. As I followed the path I discovered a body dangling from one of the trees along the path. It appears that Octan has been exploring this area and are probably responsible for the pathway as the body is definitely human, and wearing an Octan uniform. I need to make note of the coordinates and report this back to HQ. - D

Urtem left m' here. He Ain't nothing but a hound dog. Ok then. You haven't attracted any attention have you? Urtem is down on the planet. I've been belting out songs on the local comm channel. *facepalm* Why do I deal with this? Here comes a ship that looks like a tool the engineers use. Is that bad? Location: F 03 - Forring Tags: Octan, Civil, vehicle When three days ago H3 had gotten to the awesomenium site on F03 he was struck by the beauty of landscape that reminded him so much of happy days on earth long gone. He had taken all his equipment and had thrown it into the river. Ever since then, he had remained at the bank of the river, either standing, laying or sitting, staring at the water and wondering about his situation: What the hell was he, the former environmentalist, doing on an alien planet destroying it for the sake of the Octan corporation. Why was Dr. Long trying to break him down and even threatened him with rehab on an alien planet. Wasn't it his fear of aliens that had gotten him to the bottle in the first place? Why were there no psychologists on board the Axle? Why did his wife and children have to die during an alien attack that he had survived, why, why, why ... Henry had found no answers. Suddenly his brooding was interrupted by the sound of an OEV - 27 (Octan Exploration Vehicle) and the yell of it's crew: "Yo Himmelmann - is that you." "Yessir, it is" Henry mumbled to himself. "Himmelmann, you mind turning around and talking to us?" "I would prefer not to." "Hey H3, come here for god's sake and tell us what happened!" "I would prefer not to." "HIMMELMANN, what the hell is going on? Talk to us now!" "I would prefer to." "HQ - this is OEV 27 - D calling from the surface of Forring! We have found missing engineer without suitable equipment at the site of his deployment." "OEV 27 - D this is HQ: What the hell is going on down there?" "HQ - engineer seems to be in perfect pyhsical health but in strange mental condition. The indiviual is not agressive but is not cooperating at all. What are we supposed to do?" "OEV 27 - D, is the individual responding to you?" "HQ - positive, individual is communicating but not cooperating. He keeps just standing there at the bank of the river!" "OEV 27 - D, we have to think about that one. Remain on standby!" "HQ - copy that" "OEV 27 - D this is HQ are you still there?" "HQ we are still at site. Location: F03 - Forring Tags: Land vehicle, exploration Lu's Log - 05 Julali 3815 After a long week spent mapping the caves of Jurin II, coming here to Forring feels like a vacation. Beautiful grasslands, mild climate, and breathable air. Up until now, I've been living off "canned air" -- growing up with parents who survived the Martian plague instilled in me a strong distrust of unknown atmospheres. But, Dr. Long assures me that the air here is breathable and disease-free so I've been going sans-helmet. And it's amazing. The colors are more vibrant, the air has a slightly sweet taste, sounds aren't muffled by my helmet's audio. I could get used to this. Today's mission is easy; one of the science team's monitoring stations is offline; I've been dispatched to fix it. "Well hello! Hey CLAPPIE, I don't need to worry about this lizard trying to eat me, right?" "Thank you for asking, Lu! According to the Explorer's Guide, this creature feeds only on insects. Ouch! CLAPPIE, that [expletive redacted] plant just bit me! Fascinating! Lu: Gods, that really hurts. Does the guide have an entry on that plant? CLAPPIE: Indeed! The Explorer's Guide notes that the plant produces an exquisitely beautiful flower in the fall. Lu: That's it?! CLAPPIE: Well ... there has been a suggested edit uploaded to the Guide, but it hasn't yet been approved by the administrators. Lu: What does it say?!? CLAPPIE: Hmm ... it notes that the plant is highly venomous and should be avoided. It's toxins are very similar to those of the African "poison dart" frogs on earth! Lu: I'm ... starting to feel a bit dizzy. Will you please call base for me? CLAPPIE: Of course. One moment. ... ... Lu? Lu: Yes? CLAPPIE: Apparently, you are the fifth employee to be poisoned by the plant this week! The others have all survived, but Dr Long warned that you may experience some visual disturbances and should not attempt to drive. Someone has been dispatched to our location! Lu: CLAPPIE, I think the trees are falling... Stop looking at me, plants! Plants, NO EYE CONTACT IS ALLOWED! ... Urmm ... Need to find a weapon. Bad plants ... must be taught a lesson... Okay, now drop the stick... Okay, just lie down, nice and easy ... Axle,I have one patient sedated and ready for transport; please have the medivac circle around. Slowly recovering from this mess happened on New California. It's much better now. I'm even allowed to leave the room and walk around some internal corridors of the ship. And there a quite interesting things to be seen there... No idea whether this is a prototype (should be.. it's obviously not even properly colored yet). Location: F03 - Forring Tags: civil, vehicle, land vehicle, exploration --Weekly Explorer's Transmission-- --Log of Eagle-Eye Silver-- -- 06 Julali 3815-- I’ve been driving The Beast around Forring for a week now. It’s not actually called “The Beast”, but after rolling over countless small trees, shrubs, rocks, and a bunch of the tan grass on this planet, I’ve forgotten what the Octan Corp. engineers actually call it in the fleet inventory. The Beast doesn’t turn very well, but the power put through the axles is impressive! I’ll bet this truck could pull down a large building if I needed it too. Anyway, Dr. Long has me placing these devices every few kilometers today. She didn’t tell me what they do, but I’m guessing they’re supposed to help locate awesomnium. --End-- More on Flickr, I'll add some standalone pics of The Beast to the album tomorrow.
