  1. INTRODUCTION Star Wars is known for being home to many grayscale ships. So when you see this set next to all the other gray Star Wars sets it really pops. But is color enough to sell a set? Yes. Yes it is. But we get so much more than that with this two-for-one ship kit. I'm going to preface this review by saying I'm a huge fan of the EU. And while I enjoyed the Ahsoka show it wasn't my favorite. But when I saw the Ahsoka trailers showing off the E-Wing (an EU staple) and dark Jedi who weren't Sith (another EU staple) I was pretty excited to see them in Lego form. Since the show ended awhile ago I'm also going to have spoilers for the show in the review. SET INFORMATION Number: 75364 Title: New Republic E-Wing vs Shin Hati's Starfighter Theme: Star Wars Released: 2023 Part Count: 1056 Box Dimensions: 54 x 28.2 x 5.9 cm Weight: 1426g Set Price (RRP): £94.99/$109.99/€104.99 Price per Part: 9.0p/10.4c/9.9c Links: Brickset, Bricklink THE BOX On the front we get a dynamic battle scene between the two ships, a battle which never happened in the show. This bugs some people but not me. The ships were in the show. Lego put them both in one set. It just works for me. I know some have compared this to the Fang Fighter vs Interceptor set we got for Mando season 3. But that set had two grayscale ships. And most people just wanted the Interceptor to build a fleet. This set doesn't suffer from either of those issues. It's likely the E-Wing is more mass-able, but Shin's fighter is also great for generic pirate fleets and has useful colors for building other Star Wars MOCs. The back shows another scene that never took place in the show. But it does a good job of showing off play features. CONTENTS OF THE BOX Inside are 10 bags, the instructions and a small sticker sheet. I'm really glad the canopies are both printed. But I wish some of the other parts were printed too. Stickers just don't last long enough. THE BUILD I'll start with the E-Wing. Having built an E-Wing MOC years ago I was interested to know how Lego would handle the shaping and dimensions. Because of the way the wings hang so low the nose sits pretty high off the ground. So it's hard to get it to look natural. But Lego did a great job! The angles all match up so nicely. Here's a behind the scenes view. And the underside shows the Technic used to get the wings and landing gear just right. And the pilot's seat comes out revealing a good sized storage area. But what about Shin's ship? Fantastic colors, fantastic shaping, and a style that screams "P51 Mustang" make this ship really stand out. With no landing gear it doesn't sit as high as the E-Wing so you'll need to build a custom stand if you want to display these together. But since the ships never meet in the show maybe that won't be an issue for you. This ships also has a lot of storage including a hidden compartment not even shown on the box! And if you really wanted you could smuggle a person inside the first compartment. The rounded nose section is built using tri-technic pieces. It works with great effect. Though there are some gaps between the nose and the wings that can be a little unsightly at certain angles. But most of the time you hardly notice the gaps. There are a few notable parts included in the set including a brand new slope piece I had never seen before. I'm no New Elementary contributor, but I thought I'd show some of the similarities and differences with this piece. At 6 studs long it's got a lower profile than the new wedge slope introduced for Speed Champions as well as the standard 1x4 slope. But turns out it's the same length as the large 6x8 roof piece. But what about the figures? In my opinion these looks great. The astromech is a loud yellow and blue which is just fun. All figures have new and exclusive prints and parts. Morgan Elsbeth could have had printing on her skirt. But I don't think it's necessary. It only stands out because everyone else is so detailed with their leg prints. The backsides continue the printing wins... except for the astromech! Seriously Lego, we know you can print on the backside now that you've done it with R2. Stop making us wait for it to become the standard for all future astromechs! And one more shot for good measure. Could the figures have been better? Maybe slightly. Giving Ray (I mean Baylan) shoulder pads would have helped give him just a tiny bit more height. And of course having orange instead of red sabers is a must. But for me, part of the fun of Lego is getting to make those changes myself. My son doesn't care that Baylan has a red lightsaber. He just wants to play with them. And the orange blades are easy to obtain from Bricklink right now. OVERALL This may be the best Lego set I've built since the Lion Knight's Castle. It's a great build experience, has fun and new techniques, good figures, and a color scheme that really pops! I have a few tiny quibbles, but I would recommend this set to any Star Wars fan in a heart beat. SCORE How do I rate this set? DESIGN 10 Great techniques used to build the ships and a fantastic color scheme. BUILDING EXPERIENCE 10 I had to fight my son to be able to build this. We both enjoyed it so much. FEATURES 10 These ships have been swooshed a lot in my house. PLAYABILITY 10 Totally playable. But also very versatile if you want it for parts. PARTS 10 New parts, new colors, and new figures; what more could you ask for? VALUE FOR MONEY 10 Coming in just over $100 you want to make sure you're getting a good value for your money when you buy it, and indeed you are! FINAL SCORE: 10 Almost perfection in a Lego set. I can't recommend this highly enough. Plus, I've seen it on sale at both Costco and on Amazon. What are you waiting for? Go buy it already!
  2. Just in time for the end of the contest - here is my entry, the former crown jewel of my MOC collection: The K-Wing! The photos sadly aren't as good as I'd like them to be, but I think everything should be recognizeable. 3. First of all, I'm a little sad that most of my custom figures - which I can assure you are much better than these - aren't eligible for this contest. But giving up? That's not the Jedi way. I present: My tribute to some of the Expanded Universe's most famous characters, in this case, straight from the comic series Tales Of The Jedi and Knights Of The Old Republic, and of course the KOTOR videogames. Because Lego still hasn't made yellow lightsaber blades, the old „green" ones were used instead. Picture 1 From left to right: Zayne Carrick - Darth Nihilus - Exar Kun - Darth Malak - Bastila Shan Picture 2 One more, with better lighting: Picture 3 Again, I swear this isn't the best I can do - I hope you still like it and get inspired to make your own Legends figures! We can always help and learn from one another, like true Jedi. May the Force[4th] be with you!

For his new squadron, which is made up of fresh-off-the-assembly-line E-Wings, the experienced officer recruited mainly pilots with experience in flying Incom vessels for clandestine Rebel Alliance cells in heavily fortified Imperial sectors. Blackmoon Squadron has flown its first missions out of Phindar in the Demetras Sector. In stark contrast to Commander Varth’s reputation, the squadron has only lost a single pilot during the first four standard months of its existence. As a replacement for the fallen squadron member, Seb Koltin, a native of Vondarc and former commercial pilot, has been recommended to Commander Varth. 5. Being a huge fan of the Expanded Universe, which I grew up with as a kid, I decided to create the super star destroyer first seen in the 1997 PC game Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2. It also has been used in some mods for Empire at War, which was another great Star Wars game, enjoy! https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vengeance_(Vengeance-class)

    Micro E-wing

Hi guys My first post here, I've always been a lurker. I was looking around for E-Wings (Since I love that ship). Was trying to find a nice micro build, stumbled one on Flickr user p13c30fch33s3 from an old account so I decided to update his!! Suggestions are welcome, will plan to build using real pieces as soon as I feel it's done! Also apparently I have a limit to files I can post for now? So I can't post another angle...
  7. Hey folks. I wanted to make a more obscure fighter and may have chosen one a little too awkward, the Morningstar Starfighter used by the mercenaries in Star Wars: Starfighter. Reference I think I've made the internal structure of the main body sturdy, unfortunately I've not managed to build up the main thruster very well. It's as small as I could get it to be and still fit a minifig in the cockpit, though it still turned out much larger than I initially expected! Comments and criticism if you have any. :)
  8. Before my life as an AFOL started, I’d never come into contact with the Expanded Universe. But thanks to exposure to all of those strange new MOCs I’m a bit more knowledgeable now of all of the amazing stories you can’t see in the movies. There’s one storyline in particular I’m more knowledgeable – and appreciative – of now. It’s Shadows of the Empire. If you don’t know it, it’s kind of Episode 5 ½ in the Star Wars saga and tells a.o. the story of how the Rebel Alliance came to acquire the plans for the second Death Star. Along the way, it explores many familiar characters and introduces a couple of unforgettable ones. The story was told through various media when it came out in the lead-up to Episode I. There’s a book, a legendary game, comics, action figures, a soundtrack I’ve played tens of times… If you want to delve into the story, the Wookieepedia page is very comprehensive. However, I found it more fun to watch this very well put together series on Youtube. I got introduced to it thanks to our little role playing game here in the forum, with the 100% original name Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka. I had been participating as a player until I joined the team of organizers when I joined the forum staff. Ever since, I’ve been looking into the existing stories to give the game a more authentic feeling. The most recent result is the twelfth episode coming to a close. The episode revolved around figuring out who is after an attempt on Luke Skywalker’s life. This figuring out happened in two ways. Firstly, the players had to tell a story and build a scene about their character investigating. And secondly, they had to guess about a secret model that indicates who’s the one responsible. A partial part list was available for this model. The parts that were missing were only known to one of the two competing factions. They had to incorporate those parts into their builds, and the opponent had to guess what the secret seed part was. If you want to learn more about how the episode worked, how it ended and how well everyone incorporated the parts, be sure to check out the topic. I had a lot of fun coming up with the concept and tweaking it together with the always awesome organizing team. However, apart from the concept, we also had to come up with an actual secret model. Quite a challenging task if you take all of the constraints into account: it had to be something logical to the story the factions could guess if they knew the EU a bit or were good at Wookieepedia-ing. It had to be rather small in order not to make the parts list too big and the challenge impossible. It could only include parts that were readily available and available in LDD in order to make replication easy. It couldn’t use illegal techniques that would make LDD useless. And it had to include a sufficient number of parts that were interesting enough to serve as seed part. Despite it being a small model, it was quite the design challenge! The result? [MOC] Prince Xizor's Virago by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr It’s a rendition of Prince Xizor’s personal ship, the Virago. It could be found by going to the Luke Skywalker page, going to the legends tab, searching for “attempt”, concluding that Prince Xizor was after the story the episode described, and reading it with the mind of finding something suitable for a build to come across the Virago. Complicated, but not impossible. I absolutely love the design of the ship. It looks very menacing and alien, but at the same time feels right at home in the Star Wars universe. The key element were the wings that I tried to replicate with a variety of more exotic parts. I like the way they have a curved look to them, exactly like on the actual model. Well, speaking of “actual” model. It was not hard finding reference images online, but the problem was there were a number of different versions. I picked the elements that were most feasible and good looking from the models. The main inspiration were model kits, but they have a cockpit with an incredibly sharp angle which I couldn’t replicate, so I got the cockpit design from another image. The horizontal stripe is achieved by a rubber band, which for obvious reasons wasn’t included in the parts list for the episode. I did experiment with real life rubber bands though in order to make sure it could be implemented. [MOC] Prince Xizor's Virago - running away mode by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr Especially the body was hard to view on reference images, so I hope what I went for looks reasonable. I’m not too happy about the engines at the back of each wing. They look a bit simple, but they manage to conceal the “unwanted” features of the panels pretty well. I’m very pleased with the intakes of those engines though, with the chair pieces nicely fitting around the panels. [MOC] Prince Xizor's Virago - landing mode by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr The original model also has the ability to fold back the wings in a landing mode. Since I strived to make my model as complete as possible, not just fit as a secret model for the episode, but also something you can display and play with, something to be proud of, this feature is included. I imagine the friction of the pins might not be enough to keep the wings unfolded during swooshing, but I’m confident it will look good on display, and the landing mode is a nice bonus. Finally, you can see the model from all angles by checking out this video. The underside is pretty similar to the top. This is the first time I rendered a LEGO animation, and I must say I was surprised it was finished in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, I’m very satisfied with how all of the renders turned out. I can definitely recommend using Blender for your LEGO renders and animations. ImportLDraw tool is the perfect way to get your models from LDraw to Blender (and everything’s free!). I hope the results have fooled you, even if just for a moment. If you want to explore the model, you can find the LDD file here. It can also be found on Rebrickable to make replicating it easier.. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you have any questions or remark, feel free to leave them here. Thanks for bearing with me! I’m now off listening to the SotE soundtrack again…

    [MOC] TIE Raptor

[spoilers for the X-Wing series and Courtship of Princes Leia] The TIE Raptor or TIE/rpt was a starfighter design used by Warlord Zsinj's Empire during his reign from the Battle of Endor until his final defeat at the hands of the Hapan Royal Navy. A fast and manouverable design, it was not a regular SFS product like other TIE models, but was produced from Sienar components at the shipyards of Zsinj's hideout - Rancor Base - over Dathomir. Raptors are known to have participated in the battles of Vahaba and Selaggis, and were most likely used in many other missions and engagements, since Zsinj's elite troopers (also named Raptors) used them for space combat. The TIE/rpt was equipped with 4 laser cannons and 2 concussion missile launchers, but like most TIE models, lacked shielding, though some prototypes were produced. I admit my design is far from perfect, but I hope you still enjoy seeing my take on the Raptor. Pictures can be found on my Flickr page: Technical data and history of the TIE Raptor: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/rpt_starfighter You can learn more about Zsinj here: http://www.starwars.com/news/the-imperial-warlords-despoilers-of-an-empire-part-1 http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zsinj
  11. In the fantastic novel Rebel Dawn by A. C. Crispin, we get to witness the reason for Han's dislike of the Rebel Alliance. His lover Bria Tharen, leader of the Corellian rebel cell "Red Hand Squadron", turns on him and his companions Chewbacca and Lando after looting the treasure chamber of the T'landa Til priests on the Hutt-controlled world of Ylesia. High Priest Teroenza is murdered by Boba Fett by order of Durga Besadii Tai, who had learned of the former's betrayal. The smugglers are not paid for their help during the previous battle against Teroenza's minions, as they were promised. Instead, the Red Hand confiscates all the spice and other valuables in order to finance the Rebellion. The dead Rodian and Weequay were members of the Nova Force, a mercenary company employed by the Besadii Hutt clan to defend Ylesia against raids. Their anti-infantry cannon can be seen in one of the corners, taken out by a grenade, which damaged and charred the pavement and surrounding area. The partly-visible building is Teroenza's treasure chamber; the landing ramp is part of a small freighter which will transport the Rebels and their bounty to their flagship in orbit, the Liberator-class carrier Liberator. Expanded Universe Contest

UPDATE! The deadline has been extended to Aug 2nd! UPDATE! The prizes have been listed! What has, for decades now, been the history of the Star Wars universe after Return of the Jedi will officially be replaced this December. The story of the Expanded Universe has been told through dozens of books, some of them good and some of the not-so-good. But for many Star Wars fans, those books have been on equal footing with the movies. It has been long enough now since Lucas announced that he would be re-writing Star Wars history, that those of us who are EU fans have come to terms with the fact. But before Star Wars 7 is released, I want to celebrate the former EU with a contest. Because the EU covers too large an amount of time, this contest will only deal with events taking place between 4 ABY to 24 ABY (ABY=After the Battle of Yavin). The contest will also only include content found in books, not video games or e-novellas. Each entry will need to cite which book it is from (exact page numbers not necessary). The following is a list of books that can be used for this contest: For those who are less familiar with the EU I would suggest checking out Wikipedia and Wookieepedia's sections on the New Republic era as that is where all the books you can build from are found. Category A: Show an interaction between the good guys and the bad guys. Maybe Jacen and Jaina Solo are trying to escape from Qorl, the TIE pilot. Maybe Corran Horn is helping to defeat the ghost of Exar Kun. Maybe Talon Karrde is trying to survive an encounter with Admiral Thrawn. Or maybe the Rogue Squadron is facing off against Ysanne Isard. Whichever characters you choose, this category should be about the interaction between them. This is not a contest about for making the best custom EU minifigs. This category will be judged based on how recognizable the setting and interaction of the characters is. Category B: Build a ship from the EU. This should be a ship that does not appear in the films but only in the EU. Exceptions to this would be ships owned by specific people such as Kyp Durron’s X-Wing or Ysanne Isard’s Super Star Destroyer the Lusankya. Other exceptions would be variations on ships like the Stealth X-Wing. Examples of ships that are only in the EU would be the Wild Karrde, the Sun Crusher, the K-Wing, TIE-uglies, etc. Category C: This category is all about the creatures of the EU. Build a brick built Ysalamir of Myrkr, a Crystal Spider from the glitterstim spice mines of Kessel, one of Talon Karrde’s Vornskr, a battle hydra used by Exar Kun, or any other creature from the EU. Alternately, you could use a creature already molded by Lego and create the setting from the EU in which the creature is found. You could build the wampa pack led by the one-armed wampa on Hoth, a Hapan horde of rancors, or other scenes. Rules One entry per member and per category. You can enter all categories with different entries, but you'll be eligible to receive only one prize. There are no size restrictions for any of the categories. The contest will run from 4th May to 2nd Aug, 2015. As long as it's still Aug 1st somewhere in the world, you can still enter. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified. This contest is open to all EB members, even if they joined EB after the contest has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win prizes. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the contest. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. All entries must be built from real LEGO. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts. Digital entries will be allowed. All digital entries must use only existing pieces in existing colors. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Watto’s Junkyard forum, the title prefixed by, "[sWEU] – category - entry name". (For example, "[sWEU] – Cat. A. - Jacen and Jaina’s Harrowing Escape".) A link must also be included in this thread for your entry to count. Post pictures no larger than 800x640, but you may link to bigger pictures. You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited. It is also prohibited to use the Lego logo in any picture. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC. For each category, EB staff will choose the top 25, and then EB members will vote for their favorite entry among that selection. Prizes First place in Cat. A will win 75053 The Ghost First place in Cat. B will win 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship First place in Cat. C will win 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon
  13. Allegiance-class Heavy Star Destroyer from the EU Dark Empire comics. Kind of like a star destroyer on steroids... the Allegiance-class is basically a bigger, badder version of the Imperial-class ships seen in the original trilogy. It has no hangers but makes up for it with an ton of firepower. A star destroyer custom built for large ship-to-ship combat. It has no deployable ground forces, support ships, or tie fighter compliments... just a lot of guns. allegiance by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 1.1 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 4 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 2 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 3 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 7 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr the_allegiance_destroyer_by_gutworm-d5tgvnu by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 5 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 6 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr Allegiance 8 by outworlderohlendorf21, on Flickr
  14. Hello EB community! My entry for the SWEU Contest (Category: Starships) is the E-Wing Starfighter. Commissioned by the New Republic during the Thrawn campaign as a replacement for the X-Wing, the E-Wing remained in service until after the Yuuzhan Vong War. E-Wings were often carried into battle by Endurance-class Fleet Carriers, MC90 Star Cruisers and Imperial-II-class Star Destroyers. Since the NJO novels aren't eligible for the contest, this fighter is active during the Black Fleet Crisis, particularly the Battle of ILC-905. (from: Tyrant's Test) You can find details, technical specifications and reference pictures on Wookieepedia: http://starwars.wiki...ort_starfighter Pictures: Link to the album: [EDITED August 5th, 2015: changed link from Picasa to Flickr]
  15. Voting is now open! Each picture is a link to the original thread. Please go to each thread before voting as there are more pictures from the members that may help you make a better choice. Please vote for your favorite entry in each category by listing the category and then the number. For example: Only those who were members before the contest ended on August 2nd 2015 can vote. If you were not a member before August 2nd then you can't vote. This is to prevent accounts being created for voting. First place in Cat. A will win 75053 The Ghost First place in Cat. B will win 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship First place in Cat. C will win 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon As a member can only win one prize, if a member gets the most votes for more than one category they will be given the option of which prize they want and then the 2nd place person will win the other prize. You cannot vote for your own entry! Voting will close at the end of the day on the 16th of August. As long as it is still the 16th somewhere in the world, you can still vote. Votes cast after that hour will not be accepted. Cat. A: – 1. MstrOfPppts - Fight against Exar Kun - 2. Artizan - Rahn's Last Stand against the Dark Jedi – 3. (No, I totally didn’t copy some of the text in the first paragraph. ) I really do hope someone else enters Category C…I mean other than that ship that’s in the wrong place of course… I think if no one enters category C, someone should move this out of the contest area or something, I just feel like an insta-win isn’t exactly fair but I'd gladly take a prize! I just contradicted myself, oops..., etc… Building Notes: The nose took ages, I went through about 10 different styles and ways of doing it till I settled on this one. I took various inspiration from various builders who build at this size for just a general idea of how to build at this scale. (And because I considered making a Dev too…) Also, I really wish those binocular parts came in blue, but they were the only way I could get 2 claws without making it super thick. The ‘Paddle’ Gun isn’t exactly the best, as I didn’t put too much thought into it, so please look past that fact. and I thought it’d work either way. Anyways, hope you liked this build! C and C welcome as always! Oh, wait, Bluescale wants to tell you something, I’ll let him say that at the end. ~Beltar “Good Bye!”
  17. Remember that ship that had two lines in The Truce at Bakura? No? Well here it is: The Tinok-F Patrol Cloud Car Manufactured By: Bakur Repulsor Corp The Tinok-F had two pods (duh) one for a passenger or gunner, and one for the pilot. It could fly up to 50 meters and could reach up to about 950 Kilomeers per hour. Usually only needed one to fly it, but it was good to have an extra navigator. Originally these patrol cars were unarmed, but when the Imperial Occupation came, civil unrest followed forcing the police force to equip them with armor plating and weapons. Governor Nereus insisted an addition of a full-spectrum audio and video sensor, including a scrambled comlink transmission. Imperial patrol troops also used these vehicles. Main Pic “A double-podded local patrol craft streaked out of the hazy sky and landed close to the Falcon, two Bakuran enforcement officers sprang out, steering a repulsor litter between them.” Pilot Pod…with Beltar Pilot Main Pic 2 “A double-podded security craft swooped toward him. He dove out of the traffic lane, into a canyon between tall buildings and groundcar ramps. His pursuer followed, firing erratically. Han braked, swooped into a narrow alley, then jinked an Immelmann up-and-over back out into the cany0n. Security sped into the alley, passing beneath him. Han didn’t see him fly back out.” Gunner Pod…yes you can see I forgot to change one part before taking photos…oh well… The Center Part with the listening device that Governor Nereus insisted on putting in. Backside More Pics in the spoiler! Here’s how the Truce at Bakura Sourcebook describes it: Patrol Cloud Car Cloud cars are the traditional vehicles of local enforcement agents assigned to control traffic in and around Bakura's capital of Salis O'aar. These double-podded vehicles are considerably faster than most airspeeders and quite reliable. While patrol cloud cars were unarmed when Bakura was free of Imperial rule, the arrival of Governor Wilek Nereus brought about much civil unrest. Faced with two armed rebellions and several purges, Bakuran police forces had no choice but to equip their cloud cars with armor plating and laser cannons. At the insistence of Governor Nereus, the craft were also equipped with full-spectrum audio and video sensors (for listening in on and watching suspicious Bakuran citizens), while a communications scanner is capable of intercepting comlink transmissions and detecting jamming and scrambled communications. Imperial patrol troops use identically prepared cloud cars, but they can also call on military airspeeder backup if confronted by an unruly mob. In any event, the bright yellow and red patrol speeders are an unwelcome sight to the many Bakurans who fear Governor Nereus. Wookiepedia Link: Here! (I didn’t copy a whole lot of lines from the page again… ) Good luck to all who entered this contest and I’m glad it was extended one day otherwise I’d have to have wrote this at 10pm. Anyways, hope you enjoyed this build! C and C welcome! ~Beltar
  18. From The Jedi Academy Trilogy 3 - Champions of the Force At a temple on planet Yavin 4 where Luke started training his apprentices a spirit of an ancient Sith lord Exar Kun managed to get Luke's spirit out of his body. He then tried to posess the students to destroy Luke's body which lied in a deep coma at the temple Grand Audience Chamber. It was the padawans who united in a fight and drove the evil spirit away allowing Luke's spirit to return to his body ... A big thanks to MKJoshA for shedding some light into my poor EU knowledge and suggesting a few scenes I could build! Here's the list of characters:
  19. Commander Beltar

[SWEU] - Cat. A - The Truce At Bakura

I'm glad that MKJoshA added this to the book list. I chose what I thought was the most iconic scene from the book and incorporated as many details as I could from the pages such as the glass floor, the foliage on the walls, the two guards outside, the yellow jar of fruits, the Ice Mountain in the center of the table, and even the clothes that the people are wearing. *Spoiler Alert* If you haven't read the book, just look at the pictures from here, and the last couple lines that are not in italics. If you want a small synopsis the events leading up to this build, read below: The Truce at Bakura By: Kathy Tyers No sooner has Darth Vader's funeral pyre burned to ashes on Endor than the Alliance intercepts a call for help from a far-flung Imperial outpost. Bakura is on the edge of known space and the first to meet the Ssi-ruuk, cold-blooded reptilian invaders who, once allied with the now dead Emperor, are approaching Imperial space with only one goal: total domination. Princess Leia sees the mission as an opportunity to achieve a diplomatic victory for the Alliance. But it assumes even greater importance when a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi appears to Luke Skywalker with the message that he must go to Bakura—or risk losing everything the Rebels have fought so desperately to achieve. Even as the Alliance arrives, the aliens have almost overcome the Bakura Imperial garrison, whose desperate commander will accept help from any quarter—even Rebel—against an insidious foe that enslaves Human minds to pilot their invincible machines of war and destruction. While marshalling the tattered Imperial forces, Luke, Han Solo, and Princess Leia must win the trust and cooperation of the Bakurans. For although Imperial Governor Nereus has granted the Rebels temporary amnesty there is the possibility of treachery among those whose first allegiance lies with the Empire. On the eve of the final explosive onslaught, Rebel and Imperial forces must finally come to terms with each other…or lose the entire galaxy to the hideous servitude promised by a victorious alien enemy. Capturing the sweep and excitement of the original Star Wars saga, The Truce at Bakura plants a seed of hope for peace, sees the formation of a timeless love, and stands witness to a Jedi's undying sacrifice to defend Humanity against an alien nemesis. My Version: Main Picture "They caught up with Leia at the entrance to a dining hall surrounded by interior trees with dangling, drifting branches. More vine-covered white stone walls enclosed the trees, and at their center he spotted a table that was roughly triangular, with its corners blunted for extra seating. Then he looked down. Blue-green water rippled beneath the room's transparent flooring. Underwater lights cast a small moving shadows of fish and an occasional long, snakelike creature. Finally, amid the table stood a miniature mountain range delicately carved from some translucent mineral and lit from inside like one of the rain pillars. Tiny blue rivers trickled down its sides." ... "Trees along the vine-covered walls raised their branches like arms." ... "Human servants scurried away from the table-he had yet to see a droid anywhere-probably having to rearrange seating to accommodate Chewbacca. Captison escorted Leia to a spot next to himself along one side, Madam Captison took the other chair on that end. An elderly man, wearing a voice box on his chest-Senator Belden, Luke realized-already sat next to her on that corner. "Just beyond him, dear," she told Chewbacca. Luke grinned despite his distraction. Dear wasn't a term he'd have applied to a Wookie." The Dining Room "Flanked by a pair of troopers in black uniform, Governor Nereus strode to the third corner of the table and sat down." ... "The liquid clung to the glass like syrup. "Go ahead." She raised an eyebrow. "It's not toxic Our finest local product. You're insulting Bakura if you refuse." She poured herself an equal portion and drank it down. He sipped. Liquid turned to fire and burned his mouth and throat. Then he caught its flavor, like intoxicating jungle flowers mingled with the sweetest fruit he'd ever tasted. Her eyes sparkled. Obviously, she hadn't missed a nuance of his reaction. "What is it?" he whispered. He cooled his mouth with a sip of water. "Namana nectar. One of our chief exports." "I can understand why." "More?" She reached for the carafe again. "Thanks." He grinned. "But no. That's a little strong for my taste." Gaeriel laughed and filled his goblet anyways. "There's likely to be a toast soon." .... She passed him a transparent dish of yellow-orange candies. "Maybe you'd prefer tasting namana fruit this way." "Habit forming?"..."All the best fruits in the galaxy are habit forming. Be careful."....He decided to leave the candies alone-... The Truce being agreed upon. "That [a message from an officer] was a personal communique from Admiral Prittick of the Fleet. You might as well hear it." His strident voice took on a knife edge. "His message confirms the Rebels' claims. The second Death Star has been destroyed, and Emperor Palpatine is presumed dead...as is Lord Vader. The Fleet is regrouping near Annaj." ... ..Governor Nereus shook his head. "Princess Leia," he said, standing up at his place, "if your troops are willing to cooperate with mine, under truce, we need your help." Leia's shoulders straightened. "An official truce, Your Excellency?" "As official as I can make it" That sounded evasive to Luke, but evidently it satisfied Leia. She stood and extended her hand. The massive bracelet shimmered on her wrist; it seemed to add the weight of many star systems to her handclasp. This was a long strectch for both sides, literally and figurativleyy. For the first time-ever-Rebels and Imperials would fight a common enemy together. Nereus engulfed her small hand in his gloved, meaty one. Then he lifted his goblet. "To strange alliances." Everyone follows...etc...needs cooperation....ect... The Dining Room 2 Side View The Imperial Officer who delivered the bad news. 20. Hello EB community! My entry for the SWEU Contest (Category: Interaction) is the Tsoss Beacon Conference from the novel "Darksaber" by Kevin J Anderson. In 12 ABY, Admiral Natasi Daala called the remaining 13 warlords to Tsoss Beacon in the Deep Core in order reunify the warring Imperial factions. Among those present were self-stylized Superior General Sander Delvardus, High Admiral Treuten Teradoc and Admiral Blitzer Harrsk. When the warlords refused to cooperate, Daala gassed them and took command of their forces. You can find details on Wookieepedia: http://starwars.wiki...l_Reunification My vignette is based on this illustration: Daala reenacts a scene from her favorite movie: Goldfinger The Warlords don't match Harrsk, Delvardus and Teradoc because I didn't have better minifig-heads. Also, I placed Daala and Gilad outside the conference room because Lego doesn't make gas masks, I hope that can be seen as artistic freedom. 21. Hello Eurobricks!! I'm new to the forum and this is my first Star Wars MOC. Me and my fiancé have rekindled our lego passion over the past year and after amassing our collection of sets from TLG, we have begun the MOC frenzy now to satisfy our creative side. As I've immersed myself deeper into the SW universe, I recently listened to The Thrawn Trilogy audiobooks, and I must say they are PHENOMENAL and Marc Thompson is an extraordinary narrator. His portrayal of Grand Admiral Thrawn really won me over and now is my favorite villain, although he is now 'Legends' and not official canon. First, I picked up a stunning Thrawn custom Minifig from Christo, and after that I knew I needed an awesome display scene for him. I built this MOC completely from imagination aside from the nostalgic star destroyer bridge viewport. Below I have included an excerpt from the book to give reference to the design: "...The Grand Admiral's new command room was two levels below the bridge, in a space that had once housed the former commander's luxury entertainment suite. When Pellaeon had found Thrawn, or rather when the Grand Admiral had found him, one of his first acts was to take over the suite and convert it into what was essentially a secondary bridge. A secondary bridge, meditation room, and perhaps more..." "It opened at his approach, and he stepped through...into a softly lit art museum. He stopped short just inside the room and looked around in astonishment. The walls were covered with flat paintings and planics, a few of them human-looking but most of distinctly alien origin. Various sculptures were scattered around, some freestanding, others on pedestals. In the center of the room was a double circle of repeater displays, the outer ring slightly larger than the inner ring. Both sets of displays, at least from what little Pellaeon could see, also seemed to be devoted to pictures of artwork. And in the center of the double circle, seated in a duplicate of the Admiral's Chair on the bridge, was Grand Admiral Thrawn. He sat motionlessly, his shimmery blue-black hair glinting in the dim light, his pale blue skin looking cool and subdued and very alien on his otherwise human frame. His eyes were nearly closed as he leaned back against the headrest, only a glint of red showing between the lids." "'Come here captain, lets take a look, shall we?' He touched a switch; and abruptly the art show was gone. Instead, the room had become a miniature bridge monitor, with helm, engine, and weapons readouts on the display circle. The open space had become a holographic tactical display; in one corner a flashing sphere indicated the invaders. The wall display nearest to it gave an ETA estimate of twelve minutes." I used the Avengers tower type of displays - I was actually completed with this MOC with larger 1x4x3 panels, until I saw that design and liked it much better, and those translucent blue pieces are quite rare, and gave it a more holographic look. I will probably use the stickers from the Avengers set for the inner ring just with the buttons and keypad, but am debating on some kind of custom stickers or decals for the display ring, something with maybe a tiny star destroyer readout, or something that will go better according to the text. Additionally, I am torn with how the art museum display looks. While it says there are sculptures scattered around the room and on pedestals, I get the feeling from other excerpts in the book that the art is all holographically displayed as well. That being said, I searched Bricklink for any stickers/details pertaining to art. I am happy with the mix of alien/human art on the walls, but I think I would rather make custom artwork decals and duplicate the holo-display from the tactical command displays, so both interchangeable bases are identical in form, but different content on the translucent pieces themselves. Also I may go with some type of translucent custom minifigs and microfigs if possible, to replace the grey and dark grey sculptures in the middle. I definitely prefer the tactical bridge monitor scene more, considering Thrawn was a tactical genius, although the art section still needs something more to pop, and Thrawn's study of cultures and species' artwork is what gave him the insight on their strategies, enabling him to have the upper hand and be a few steps ahead. I added some more pics below, including the greebling technique on the outer viewport side of the display, making it look more star destroyer-esque. Need to add some greebling above the windows, and I also need to Bricklink another few trans-blue panels to complete the display rings. So it's 98% done, but I still consider it WIP for now. Once it is complete I plan on taking much better pictures to really do it justice. Lemme know what you think!!
