  1. Baron Peter Nash, Architect, is well known in Elizabethville. He has recently completed several buildings here: Horse breeding Elizabethville Hippodrome, Elizabethville Horse logging, Elizabethville Elizabethville is known for its horses. Many horses are bred here and some of the best horses in the world come from here. It is therefore not surprising that there is a great demand for carriages and carts here. To help mayor Tom Mercer ( @SilentWolf ) meet this great need, Peter has designed a new factory. This royal carriage factory even ensures that Elizabethville can now call itself 'City', instead of Large Town! --- Build will be licensed in Elizabethville by ??? (Crown @Ayrlego or settlement @SilentWolf) Hopefully licensing takes place in September. Property type: Royal Factory Dimensions: 178 x 146 studs Total parts: ~31,500 Credits: - Design carriages: barthezzbrick, peter.g.keith, marinbrickdesign, brickative, slimjimlego (all from Instagram) Source of Inspiration: Medieval building drawing --- With this build I've achieved: - a total of 5 builds in Elizabethville (11% of all my builds) - a total of 7 Factory builds (16% of all my builds) - a total of 13 Royal builds (Corrington has 22 Royal builds) - Elizabethville becomes settlement level 'City'!
  2. This thread encompasses all builds within Elizabethville and on the Corrington claimed island of Lacryma. Name: Elizabethville Ownership: Crown Location: Lacryma Mayor: Tom Mercer (SilentWolf) Trade Value: See account sheet Who can own property in Elizabethville: Anyone Who can freebuild in Elizabethville: Anyone Map: To be released someday About the settlement of Elizabethville: Elizabethville is founded on the island of Lacryma which was discovered by Micah and the other members of the WETEC while searching for new islands to the East. They found there a friendly local tribe, and were informed that the island had many other tribes as well. The partners founded a horse ranch in the area near there discovery of a cave. This was the beginning of the settlement that is growing as new settlers arrive from all parts of Corrington and the brickworld. The geography of Lacryma is mostly pedestrian looking plains with plenty of trees scattered about along with a few small forests. There is no great harbor on the island, but several places to anchor a ship safely. 3. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the new hippodrome of Elizabethville! Today we present to you a competition between four factions. In lane 1 Fabio Montinelli starts on behalf of Eslandola! In lane 2 I present to you Fabrice Dubois the forward man for Oleon! In lane 3 is starts on behalf of Corrington, Sir Peter Nash, Knight in the Order of Corrington! A highly skilled horseman. And finally in lane 4, Cromwell Huckabee will defend the honor of the Sea Rats!" *Cheering Audience* "Are all participants ready?! In 3, 2, 1, start!" And there they go! Cromwell Huckabee takes charge! At the first corner he distances himself more and more from the other three participants. Fabio Montilelli and Sir Peter Nash follow, followed by Fabrice Dubois!" *Screaming and cheering men and women* *Sea Rats supporters of Cromwell Huckabee go quiet... very quiet...* "Oh no! What's going on here...!! Summer Flower, Cromwell's horse comes to an abrupt halt! With a thump, Cromwell Huckabee falls to the ground. Summer Flower is leisurely nibbling on a juicy dandelion! Trying with all his might Cromwell still trying to push Huckabee into motion, but to no avail..." *Cursing Sea Rats in the stands* "Fabio Montinelli and Sir Peter Nash approach in the background, with Fabrice Dubois in tow. They pass Cromwell Huckabee, who pushes against the horse's bum, sighing and puffing. But to no avail..." *Unintelligible chants by angry Sea Rats* "Sir Peter Nash comes alongside Fabio Montinelli with the finish line already in sight! Peter encouraged his horse again and with a last effort he squeezed out another powerful final sprint." *A frenzied crowd of Corrington supporters* "And after a spectacular race, Sir Peter Nash, on behalf of Corrington, is finally the first to cross the finish line! Followed by Fabio Montinelli (Eslandola) and shortly behind him, Fabrice Dubois (Oleon). Cromwell Huckabee (Sea Rats) finally finished a few minutes later, when his horse Summer Flower trudged across the finish line satisfied." --- Will be licensed as a Royal Art & Culture in Elizabethville, by @SilentWolf The build will be purchased by @SilentWolf Completing GoC task 9.2 Equines for Elizabethville with this build. 4. It had been a while since Peter Nash (architect) completed his last design assignment, the Rum Distillery in Jamestown. After completion of this factory, he said goodbye to Padre Azucar and made a journey through Myzectlan. Here he met the local population, the Myzec. Inspiring people with an even more fascinating culture! Peter also felt the need to design buildings again. So he traveled further to Elizabethville. The breeding ground of the best horses in the world. Horses were bred here for horse racing, among other things. Peter became acquainted with the local population and was soon asked if he wanted to design a horse breeding farm. And so it happened... "Howdy partner!" --- Will be licensed as a Large Commerce to Elizabethville, by @Bricksbypidy. Completing GoC task 9.1 Equines for Elizabethville with this build. Property type: Royal Large Commerce Dimensions: 114 x 98 studs Total parts: ~13,000 Credits: - None
  5. Light infantry of the 26th Regiment of Foot 'Hawarden Regiment' rest at their field encampment near Elizabethville. They enjoy a good meal around the campfire with turkey drumsticks and marshmallows. A funny detail (in my opinion) is the peeing man. --- Will not be licensed. Completing GoC task 1.3 Redcoats Rules! with this build. Completed 3 out of 3. Title Awarded: Patron of the Army Property type: None Dimensions: 27 x 63 studs Total parts: ~2,000 Credits: - 26th Regiment of Foot 'Hawarden Regiment' @evancelt
  6. Corporal Ferguson of the Elizabethville militia was on leave from Fort di Legno and headed home to his cabin with his dog Hercules. He was pleased to see the hearth fire burning as he approached from the stream bank - his wife must be preparing dinner. He would surprise her. However, as he got closer to the house, he saw a black form scurry behind the cabin. Hercules made chase. ---------------- OOC: To be licensed as a medium residence in Elizabethville. Ever since my wife got the Santa's Sleigh set at Thanksgiving I've wanted to use the dual molded red boot pants for an Elizabethville militia build
  7. When Martin Shoemaker went into town and told the mayor that two of his prize white stallions had been stolen from Shoemaker Farms, the mayor went to Captain Brickleton. As the ranking officer in Elizabethville, Brickleton knew it was his responsibility to keep the townspeople and their property safe. He had figured that meant from Oleon (who Corrington was at war with), but it did encompass horse thieves as well. For the next few dawns after receiving the news, Brickleton and a small group of Elizabethville Militia and 26th Foot lay in wait at the seaside horse farm, ready to spring in action upon the would-be thieves arrival. On the third morning, the thieves arrived by boat and the soldiers sprung their trap! Process shots: To be licensed as a large plantation in Elizabethville OOC: I approached this build wanting to try a few new things. First, I wanted to try to build a shiplap shingle outbuilding like @SilentWolf built in the Elizabethville downtown. Secondly, I wanted to try an @Ayrlego-style base that gradually dropped from SNOT on the sides down to water in the corner. Thirdly, I wanted to try to make a natural-looking hill landscape with an Irish-looking small stone wall.
  8. With his seventeen-point readiness plan enacted in Elizabethville and many new trained members swelling the ranks of the settlement militia, Captain Brickleton and his mixed company of 26th Foot and 18th Hussars depart Fort di Legno for their next adventure. Second Lieutenant Bolton gathers militiamen in front of the fort to see Captain Brickleton off. OOC: Wanted to break out my red legs and log bricks again before a change in scenery, and to move Brickleton's story along!
  9. After meeting the two Onondaga warriors earlier in the week at his cabin, Captain Brickleton invited them to camp to meet the soldiers. The Onondaga put on an impromptu show of marksmanship with the bow and arrow at the edge of camp. Captain Brickleton invited the warriors to give the soldiers of the 26th Foot and colonial militia a series of archery lessons. The Onondaga gladly accepted. While the Corlander soldiers were well-trained with muskets and sabers, Brickleton figured it couldn't hurt to have them learn a new skill from expert teachers.
  10. Without a harbor in Elizabethville, the ship carrying Captain Brickleton and his mixed company of 26th Foot and 18th Hussars couldn't get that close in. Anchored offshore, smaller boats ferried the men, horses, and supplies to the dock and beach in front of Fort di Legno. Arriving on the first boat, Captain Brickleton was greeted by Second Lieutenant Bolton of the Elizabethville Colonial Militia at the stockade fort. After introductions, together they went to retrieve the manager of the nearby stables. Returning with a few stablehands, they helped guide the frightened horses from the shallows inland. Following the chaotic yet successful disembarkment, Bolton gave Captain Brickleton a tour of the stockade. As the new ranking officer in Elizabethville, Captain Brickleton was keen to start off on the right foot. He left Bolton, who was clearly very proud of the smallish wooden fort, in command of the stockade and began to move his men inland to set up camp. A troop raising build for Elizabethville.
  11. The first snow of the season has arrived in Elizabethville. The soldiers of the 26th Foot take turns between standing watch with the militia at Fort di Legno and gathering firewood from the nearby forests. Lance Corporal Dryer has found a dry tree well where he sets up a chopping station on a stump. As he chops larger branches to manageable lengths, his comrades bring the wood back to camp to have close at hand. That night at camp, they stay warm around a half-dozen fires and speculate as to their role in the coming war with Oleon. OOC: Back in 2012 I got my PhD in forest snow hydrology studying how snow gets intercepted in tree canopies. I wanted to try out a snow build with a tree that intercepted some of the snow to create a well.
  12. Lance Corporal Dryer didn't mind digging latrine pits all that much - the new latrine pits were usually far enough away from the old latrine pits that there wasn't much smell and he enjoyed the rhythm of digging. He was in for some excitement when his shovel hit something hard; as he dug around the hard object, he began to uncover what looked to be a large spine. He couldn't imagine what the animal would have looked like that had such a giant spine. With the help of Corporal Griffith, they pulled the spine out of the half-dug latrine pit. Below where the spine had lain, they uncovered large six-inch teeth. When the teeth were presented to Captain Brickleton, he was taken aback. Thinking of a large alligator, the beast that owned the large teeth must have been huge! He would write to Colonel Dirk Allcock (@Ayrlego) and request he send a note on to the Parliament of Science suggesting further investigation. OOC: I wanted to try out an @Ayrlego-style baseplate and some new tree styles that are thinner than the birches in the bridge MOC.
  13. As a child growing up in Corrington, Captain Brickleton would gaze out his bedroom window at Orion's Belt and the Big Dipper. Now a grown man and leading the Corlander military contingent in Elizabethville, Brickleton would still gaze up at those same stars. On the return leg of his trip to the interior looking for a waterfall that rained gold, the captain encountered the medicine man of the Onondaga and invited him back to visit the military camp outside Fort di Legno. The medicine man told the captain some of the tribe's histories. He showed Captain Brickleton the stars he had always known, but explained them in a new way: Orion's Belt was the Goose Foot and the Bigger Dipper was the Wolf Brothers. Same stars, but different names. ------------- OOC: I wanted to a try a night scene with muted nighttime colors and use technic axles as stars! Went with yellow axles for the dark sky, and dark tan axles for the darkening sky. I don't have that many dark bricks but I scrounged up all the ones I could find. The picture was shot in low light.
  14. Based on a tip from his new Onondaga friends, Captain Brickleton and a squad of the 18th Hussars head inland into the interior of Lacryma in search of a waterfall that rains gold. At least that's how the Onondaga describe it. Deciding that if the waterfall really rained gold the riches would be too good to pass up, Captain Brickleton plans a day trip on horseback. As the group passes over a rickety bridge on foot, they reach the end of the Elizabethville road and the beginning of the Onondaga single-track that preceded it.
  15. As part of Captain Brickleton's Seventeen Point Plan to bolster the defenses at Elizabethville, he instructed the militia at Fort di Legno to keep watch on the sea at all hours. A squall raged all night and into the morning. As the sun rose, the militiaman on watch spotted a ship on the horizon. Using his spyglass, he couldn't quite make out the ensign flying behind the ship, but he could see that it was blue. By midafternoon, the storm had moved offshore and it became quite clear that the ship was listing hard to port. The militiaman notified Second Lieutenant Bolton and he went to Captain Brickleton with the news. Over the next 24 hours the ship began drifting closer to Lacryma and it also began breaking up. A full 48 hours after the ship was first spotted, the first bluecoat seamen in the water began reaching shore. Captain Brickleton stripped down to his knickers and swam out to help them reach land. Once ashore, they were taken into custody and given a warm meal. In total, seven bluecoats made it ashore, though the militia patrolled the beach for the next week looking for signs of any additional crewmen. OOC: I've broken a lot of reddish brown plates and tiles in the last month, and I wanted to use them in a MOC! Also wanted to try out some new tree techniques
  16. "A First Meeting with the Onondaga" Upon their arrival at Elizabethville, Captain Brickleton had his men set up a camp behind Fort di Legno. An abandoned cabin across the main path from the soldier's camp caught Captain Brickleton's eye and he inquired with the town mayor as to its provenance. He learned it had been home to a local merchant who met her demise earlier that year at sea in a run-in with Sea Rats. With no family, the cabin had sat vacant since. Captain Brickleton made a formal offer to the town Mayor and purchased the cabin. He would be immediately adjacent to his men in camp, but would have a roof over his head rather than tent canvas. About two weeks after moving into the cabin, Second Lieutenant Bolton of the Elizabethville militia came by and announced they had received a letter for Captain Brickleton from a passing frigate. As the lieutenant was presenting the letter to Captain Brickleton, two native Onodaga warriors appeared and made introductions. Captain Brickleton was on edge during that first meeting, having never met a native before. However, he quickly realized the two Onodaga were jovial and kind. They shared some cordial and nuts. Once the guests had left, he opened the letter and was glad to see it was from Elsabeth Stockton. The cabin wasn't large, having only one room, but it had plenty of space for the man by himself. He purchased a bed in town and brought it back to the cabin. Captain Brickleton inquired with the Onondaga warriors about their feathers and learned they came from the plumage of a white eagle. Captain Brickleton was pleased by the many windows in the cabin, which would have otherwise been quite dark. The cabin needed a good sweeping, but was in pretty good shape for having sat vacant. Licensed as a small residence
  17. "A Seventeen Point Plan" With the unrest occurring on Terraversa, Captain Brickleton wanted to make sure Elizabethville was prepared for any unplanned action. He detailed a seventeen point preparation plan for Fort di Legno and worked with Second Lieutenant Bolton of the militia to have his militiamen implement it. Along with more strategic defensive improvements, Captain Brickleton and Second Lieutenant Bolton oversee a militiaman scrubbing the palisade walls with soapy water. The difference is immediately noticeable.
  18. Micah is out with Hanska and his friend, Deganawidah, hunting in the plains of Lacryma. The island primarily has open plains with scattered trees that have the highest density near rivers and creeks. Today, they are hunting for the deer that roam on the island, but it takes a smart hunter to get close to them, as the deer have keen eyes and a sharp nose. They have been following a deer and hog trail right up to one of the creek crossings. They hope to spot the deer on the other side of the creek. Hanska explained to Micah that the hogs that have populated the island like to live in bramble patches where it is hard to get to them. It is unwise to go in after them, and the primary method of hunting the hogs has been to waylay them in the moonlight with spears. Though the Corrington rifles have proven more effective against their thick skin than the Onondaga's bows and arrows and this has drawn the attention of the Onondaga. Notes: This build was a concept since last Christmas, and I have had the deer built and waiting for the forest ever since. I finally got around to building the forest around Thanksgiving and just finished it recently. The build is 72x64 studs which is my largest physical build to date. The trees kept falling over on me, and they also got attacked by the toddler between photography sessions, so they were my least favorite part of the whole build. I borrowed the birch trees from @Kai NRG's great build. I intend to license this in Elizabethville as a medium plantation. Additional photos behind the spoiler.
  19. Elizabethville has grown considerably in the year and a half since it was officially founded. Though its position on an island made up primarily of plains has created a diverse growth of the island. Some people have build clapboard buildings, others have used stone or brick, while some are building log cabins for themselves and their families. Malcolm and Serena Otis are one such couple. They lived in the slums of Belson before they heard about the opportunity to settle in a new colony. They scrimped and saved every last penny, and eventually set sail for Elizabethville aboard the Soupfish. Now that they are here, they have claimed a farm and have built a log cabin from the trees they have cleared from the land. As the crops haven't come up yet, they are living off of the land. It isn't an easy life, but it is a better life than they had in Belson. Malcolm is off to try and get enough meat for the week, as Serena takes care of their one month old baby and collects herbs from the countryside. Note: I was in need of more residences in Elizabethville, and wanted to try my hand again at a log cabin. This one is much more stable than the last one, though it really wouldn't take a lot of handling well. Mesabi, I had planned an interior but in the end beams were attached inside that prevented a look at anything inside. Here is another angle:
  20. Small Licensed Artisan (Footprint: 512 studs) in Elizabethville Spud has a place in his heart for tribal people, after all, he is descended from a clan spanning many centuries back in the Old World. With the new commission by @SilentWolf to build an artisan building in Elizabethville, Spud funded the local indigenous people to craft their own weapons. Spud recalled how his people's weapons were restricted back in history and this ended up in many Spud clan deaths. Although, the natives seem to be keen on using these axes for hunting wildlife on the plains. As Spud inspected the new build he saw a native chopping wood. This would provide the shafts for the tomahawks. Alongside Spud was Marcus Blackburn, an expert in translating tribal tongues and local cultures. A very astute man educated in Corrington Inside the longhouse was a man and woman working diligently. The woman carved the sticks from the barrel into smaller shafts to suit the shape and style of a tomahawk. The man fitted the axe blade onto the shaft. He will then use the grindstone to sharpen the blade. _____ P.S SilentWolf can I get a bonus for building a longhouse?

    [COR - FB] The Ant

Gustave Dubois is a small time merchant who recently has settled in Mooreton Bay with his wife and 7 children. He only has one son, Julien. He and Julien had sailed his small trading vessel out first, then once he had found a house, he sent word for his wife and daughters to join them. The new colony is a great place for a new and cheaper existence, and hopefully some lucrative trade opportunities between the new booming settlements. Today, Gustave and Julien are setting out on one such trade voyage aboard their vessel, The Ant. Of course, it sounds better in Gustave's original language, but an industrious vessel she is. Note: I am licensing this as my free class 1.
  22. A new artisan has opened in Elizabethville, and it has been the rave of the town. The WETEC has not allowed a tavern to be set up so far, in order to prevent drunkenness among the soldiers. Though there is no prohibition, they wanted to avoid the soldiers being able to spend their entire paychecks drinking each month. This new establishment has helped ease the tensions over the lack of a tavern. We had formerly seen the propietors, Joe and Josephine Black voting for the new mayor of Elizabethville, and since then they have been working hard to get the building finished and opened. Joe and Josephine Black decided to open an establishment that specialized in the delicacies from Cocovia. Here the residents can buy cocoa bars and coffee. It also provides a great location to meet and spend time with friends during the evening hours. The place is so popular that they are considering opening up the roof for additional seating in good weather. On rainy days, the shutters are dropped and the inside is the only available seating. They have also already hired a young lady to help serve. There is a new cocoa bar that is available that is processed with milk. It makes a lighter and sweeter tasting delicacy. Though it so far hasn't overtaken the cocoa bars in popularity. (Some rumors claim it was developed in Oleon, but every true Corrington citizen knows that it was developed by Corrington scientists on Cocovia.) Some even drink chocolate and claim it tastes wonderful, though coffee seems to be the preferred drink. Among the women, there is a tendency to add cream to the coffee makes it a tan color rather than its original black. Without further ado, here is the Bittersweet Mug. Bittersweet Mug An extra picture capturing the flat roof
  23. Elizabethville has been growing in leaps and bounds. The efforts of the WETEC in enticing new settlers to the settlement has been paying off. They have seen an influx of people which has necessitated various industries and services. As any good Corrie would know, education was the key to progressing in the world. With this in mind, Micah had convinced Aaron Jenkins to settle in Elizabethville, and found its very first school. Due to the work needed to be done to settle the land, the class time is in the evenings. Schoolmaster Jenkins has set up a small classroom in the front of his house. During the day time, he has taken up his favorite hobby the most important discipline of recording the happenings of the present so that history will be preserved for the future. He has been several works in progress, including a history of the Corrington Empire. However, his newest work is tentatively titled A History of the Corrington Settlement on the Untamed Island of Lacryma in the Sea of Thieves and the Relations with the Natives There. (He is after all a true historian who would never use few words when more would suffice.) He intends to use this book in five years to teach the younger children. Today, he has been writing about the agriculture that has been taking place on the island. Feel free to open the pages of the history of Lacryma. Notes: This is going to be licensed as a large education build. The book was built as an entry to the Texas State Fair. The books measures 57x38 studs (just under 18x12 inches) with a height of 12 inches. This is by far my largest physical build. The log cabin was the second version attempted which proved far stabler than the one used in Those Smelly Pig Farmers... Oh Bacon! Here is an overview shot of the book. As always, complements, criticism, and suggestions for improvement are welcome.
  24. To review previous builds, check out this link, or to specifically follow Elizabethville, read here. The core of the WETEC is their extensive horse ranches and the sales of the best steeds anywhere. Lacryma has become the new headquarters with the wide open plains suitable for large herds of horses to be raised and trained. Though Micah owns the horse business, with the other four holding a share of the company, it was his father's vision that made their ventures profitable. Alexander of Wolfhaven, rest his soul, was an avid horsemen who bought and bred the best horses he could find. In his honor, Micah had commissioned a marble statue from Belson. Upon its completion, Micah had it loaded upon the companies newest ship, the captured war brig Soupfish. They sailed straight from Belson to Elizabethville. There the statue was placed upon the pedestal built for it. The dedication ceremony consisted of a military parade of all the troops who are being trained on Lacryma, as well as the 12 marines from the Soupfish. The cavalry are expected to be deployed soon to Prio to help end the stalemate that has taken place over the last several months. The divisions are mounted and ready for combat when called.
  25. Alex, Henry, and Jimmy's families each moved to Elizabethville from different parts of Corrington. Being around the same age they have quickly become fast friends. Recently, they have been out exploring around there new homes. Alex at 7 years old, heard some of the older boys talking about gold. He has decided they will find it. Borrowing a couple shovels and pick ax from their parents, they have found the perfect location to dig. Henry: My hands are getting sore. Are you sure the gold is down here? Alex: Of course this is where the gold is. Jimmy: I am super sore also. Do you want to take a turn shoveling all this dirt? Henry: I can't shovel, because I am watching for the gold nuggets. Jimmy: I could look for some gold nuggets. Alex: What do gold nuggets even look like? Henry: You guys are only 6, and I am 7. I know all about gold. I have to keep watching for the nuggets. We should be seeing one soon. Alex: I am almost 7! Then I can take a turn looking for the nuggets. Scrape, scrape, oof. Alex: What is this shiny rock? Henry: Let me see! He inspects it for a few moments, tapping it on the pick ax and holding it up to the sunlight. Henry: We have found the gold! We are rich! Jimmy: I can buy a toy soldier! Alex: I can buy a pony! Throw down the ladder. I want to come up and see our gold! I could pay someone to do my chores! Bouncing around excitedly, they continued to discuss what they were going to spend their gold on. Note: This is a prospecting build near Elizabethville. In a month, we will find out how knowledgeable Henry REALLY is about his gold nugget. Check out this link for previous builds regarding Elizabethville and the WETEC.
