  1. My girlfriend gave me the 4260 Road Work Crew for the holidays (you can see her present in the back of the pictures). I thought it'd be fun to have a go at building a C-Model. I grew up in a rural community and combine harvesters were a common sight in my youth. Without further ado, this is the result: The model has the following functionality: The mower drives the conveyor The conveyor almost reaches the hopper The hopper can be disconnected Rear-wheel steering The model is more fragile than I would have liked but this is the best I could manage with the limited part selection. The colours, stickers and the anniversary brick work out quite nicely. Some more pictures can be found in the Instagram post.
  2. Hi Eurobrick folks, I would like to present my first Mindstorm Ev3 creation: a combine harvester, which I named C-HARV3ST3R, following the Ev3 terminology. It is more than a year that the project was completed, and it stood for some time on a shelf before I finally made instructions (soon on Rebrickable). I then take the opportunity to present it here: It is remote controlled with the IR beacon, including steering and raising the unloader using the middle button. The header can be raised using a lever on the right side. There are two positions: when down (harvesting mode), the small wheels drive the reel. When up (driving mode), the reel does not turn anymore, and a lever push the touch sensor. The program can therefore "know" whether we are in driving or harvesting mode, based on the state of the touch sensor. The two modes differer by the following: in harvesting mode, the combine harvester drives more slowly and no reverse driving is allowed. In addition, a counter records how much we have harvested, a gauge (in %) is displayed on the screen at the top of the machine (where the actual tank is on real machines). When the tank is full, no further move is allowed and a "bip" is emitted. One need to either go in driving mode, or to unload the harvest by raising the unloader. In driving mode, the combine harvester moves faster and can move reverse (slow speed, emitting a warning "bip"). But a video is maybe better than words: Finally, just a few more pics: Hope you like it!
  3. The idea for TC9 is really great, and while I think it might be a bit above my skill level, I figured I can always give it a try I decided to build a combine harvester, because they're cool. Here is mine: The functions are: HOG steering Rotating header, driven by differential on the front wheels Raising and lowering header Manually removable header Manually extendable unloader pipe Currently, the model measures 30x25x13 = 9750 cubic studs with the header attached. I was planning on including a trailer for the header for transport, but I don't see where I can fit it so that the model remains inside the limits when the header is on the front. I'm not 100% happy with the cabin; especially the seat is a bit silly, I think. Ideas for improvement (also other parts) are welcome . Please let me know what you think! Here are some more photo's. Once I'm satisfied with the model, I'll take some better photos (with better light) and then disassemble it. Unfortunately I don't have enough if the parts used to keep the A and B models intact . With the unloader pipe extended: Header raised: Header removed: I plan to put a trailer on the B-model tractor, so I needed some extra wheels ; they're used for HOG steering (rear wheel) and raising/lowering of the header (front one):
