I'm moding one of bigger official sets - making a AWD SUV. I have come into an issue with front wheel connection to AWD system. Technic chain (Bricklink part 3711) could be a possible way to solve my issue, due to freedom of gear location. But I don't know how good this part handles torque? Is it enough to have one chain, or should I get 2 in parallel to be sure it won't break or gets damaged? How many parts do I need to have 2*16gears connected on a distance of 5 studs/holes between their centers? Correct me if I'm wrong, chain works with 8, 16 and 24 teeth gears only?
Alternatives to technic chain links?
powerwindows83 posted a topic in General LEGO DiscussionHi all! Is there any chain that's stronger than the rather pitiful technic links? I've been wanting LEGO to make sturdy chain links using the large treads forever now, and if they do have something like that I'm unaware of it. But is there a stronger chain available from LEGO, or should I just resort to buying and cutting up some tread links? I'm picturing something pretty similar in size to the chains found in K'NEX roller coaster sets. Thanks in advance for the guidance and/or bad news! :P I'm working on a somewhat realistic boxer engine for an MOC. I thought it would be interesting to have XL motors where the camshafts would be and have the timing belt (technic chain) actually drive the thing, but of course the old links are far too weak to handle one motor, much less two. I'd like to use the large tread links since they're plenty strong enough, but the tread face is five studs wide and would 1) be obviously unrealistic, and 2) take up most of the space in the engine bay. If I have to I'll use two chains next to each other and hope that holds, but if I can I'd like to keep it as narrow as possible. Cheers!
[MOD] The Joker Manor motorized
lluisgib posted a topic in LEGO LicensedAfter some days of "try and error", I finally have a first motorized working version of the Joker Manor's Roller Coaster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc0vSOunDqY Here you are a picture of the modification: Of course there is room for improvement, but actually it works quite well. Now I have to do some make-up
Lxf to ldr - Chain is not converting
atanas1223 posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and ProjectsI am converting a lego model to an .ldr file. However, the chain link models are not converted/present in the export! Is there a way to export the chain models too? Otherwise how can I get their models into my .ldr file? I've created an animation here:
