  1. This model is based on my idea after thinking of a simple transformable vehicle, it should be able to transform even while moving since the mechanism is independent. I plan to use 3 motors with technic C+ hub. 2 motors will be use to do the driving & the rest for transformation. I also plan to build as compact as possible due to my parts availability. The remote will be created using the PU apps. Feature : 2 buttons for driving (moving & steering) 1 button for transformation (forward & backward) RPM meter for all motors This is the driving module, it consist of 2 identical track driving mechanism powered by a L motor. The transformation module is mounted at the center level and powered by a L motor. This is the Z shape after transformation I planned to mount the hub between the L motors. After finishing the build, I found out that the transformation module can not 'hold' the position as I expected. The Hub & the L motor created a heavy load that the module can stand. So I changed the gearing system using a pair of worm gears at the final output. I also modified the driving module by moving the L motor position into the lower part. To make sure the model can work as I want it, I create the remote control using PU apps on my android phone. During the test run, I found out that there is still an empty port which can be use to connect the PU LED. The LED was connect using a pair of part part #x400c20 as the light bar on top of the model. This model works smoothly & can transform while driving, it also can drive using the front side when it bumped into some obstacle. More picture & video will be taken later.
  2. This is my second try to build the entry for the contest. If this one better then the zCube, I will submit this. I challenge myself to build a compact transformable vehicle with wheels. I build this during my holiday of my online math class, so I really enjoy it. I have not choose a name for the model since I didn't have the idea for the body yet.(maybe a small truck or hatchback car) I will update the name when I finished building it. My first attempt is choosing the rack gear, I choose the part# 18942 from set#42043. This gear provide a smooth & steady movement, it will support the force at any mounting point. This is the base frame, maybe it will be modified later to suit the next step build. The steering is simple one. The basic transformation of the frame. The wheelbase getting shorter & lift up the mounting frame for the body.
  3. After tinkering a lot and trying different ideas, I chose one. It is going to be a truck, that can be converted into a 4 leg walking vehicle (like the ATAT) I have a first prototype for the leg deployment mechanism : Truck Mode Walking mode : For now it's still an early prototype, but the plans are to make something that is able to rise on his own leg. (I'm scared that the LA won't support the weight…)
