  1. Here is my work in progress entry for tc6. I just want to start by saying that I have recently resurrected my old technic collection and looking to get back into the hobby. I saw this contest, so ordered up some pf parts, and the fun began. All my sets are the old studded sets, so I hope this does not hurt my chances! Back when I did MOCs (20 years ago) similar models to this were my favorite, but I was never able to motorized till now! Functions: - 1 Servo Motor: Steering - 1 Large Motor: Rear Wheels - 1 Medium Motor: Dump Bed (small LA) - 1 Medium Motor: Switch Headlights On/Off (a wimpy function, but my kids love it) - 2 IR receivers as I do not have an s-brick. Other Features - Limited slip rear differential - Live rear axle suspension - Perpendicular front axle with steering - Steering wheel turns with servo motor - Hopefully more to come! Looking to add some doors, but not sure how to best do this using my old parts, which I am almost out of. Any suggestions on this would be welcome. Also, please share any improvements and or features I should add, as comments are welcome, especially since I have not done a MOC in many years so my techniques are probably out of date.
  2. Hi everybody, I want to present you my planned TC6 Entry: A remote controlled Dumptruck with 4 axles. The functions are: - Driving the rear wheels with a XL-Motor - Steering the two front wheels with a Servo-Motor - Cabin tilt with a M-Motor - Tilting dump bed with 2 LAs over a L-Motor (or maybe XL-Motor) - Open the doors (manual) All motorized functions are controlled by 2 IR-Receiver and 2 Remotes. This model isn´t based on an real model, it should represent a standard European dumptruck. My design of the cabin is inspired by 8258, but I choose a different color scheme. Here are a few screenshot of my current project in LDD: ---UPDATE--- The first WIP pictures: The next WIP pictures: The finished model: Comments, critic and suggestions are always welcome. Thanks for reading Dave
  3. My first MOC in far too long! It will be a Katipo spider, the NZ version of the Black Widow. Now on Rebrickable! Functions: Left legs - L motor Right legs - L motor Winch ("silk") - XL motor Jaws - M motor WIP shot: Final model! 4. Hi, Final model: ========== The forklift is now done. I got the last order from bricklink and have finished off the final details like the dashboard and cabin floor. I actually completed it the 22nd, but haven't had time to take the photos before today. More pics in full resolution can be found here. A video will follow this weekend. My main focus for this model was making it realistic, and using a linear actuator along with chains to lift the carriage and forks. I have tried to keep the rest of the model as realistic as possible, even though the scale is not exact (a few studs to wide). The model is inspired by two different models of a Linde 3 ton forklift, but not an exact replica of either. As you can see the mast is taken from the first model, while the over all design is taken from the next. Pictures of the final MOC: From behind; max turning angle. forks in top position, lights off. Front view; forks in top position, lights off. Cabin interior; dashboard above the wheel, heater with 3 "buttons" below the wheel, speaker in silver to the left and right of the dashboard, and hydraulics control on the left. The seat can barely be seen in the lower middle of the pic. Detail shot from the rear; light on, with the seat dismantled (it was very hard to show it in any other shots) Interior shot; here the pedals are also clearly seen. Finer rear detail; notice the pressure gauge, gas connection and the towing hook; light on. Side profile The famed bottom shot shows very little, so I added some stripped side shots. Panels, interior and battery box removed; large motor for lift visible in the lower middle, and gear train for lift and tilt visible. M motor for tilt located under switch, similar to L on the other side. Notice servo under PF receivers and steering drive train with RTC spring to reduce play in steering. Side panels removed, all interior in place. Finally the seat is visible... The final model have these functions: PF functions: - Drive by XL motor. - Steering by Servo, and nontraditional design on steering system. - Mast tilt by M motor. - Fork lift by L motor. Manual functions: - Interchangeable carriages for equipment (different carriages with different forks or other equipment). - One Carriage with Adjustable interchangeable forks and towing hook. - Rear towing hook. - Removable LPG bottle. - Opening rear panels to allow access to remove counter weight (battery box). Fits both standard and LiPo/AAA box battery box. - Opening seat compartment to access technical functions (switch and PF recievers/Sbrick). Just like a real forklift where this gives access to motor or batteries. - Opening "hood" to switch battery box on/off Other functions: - Steering wheel that turns along with the servo. Achieved through flex axle from a Znap set. - Front light - Rear light - Work lights - All light controlled by a switch. Video: (Please excuse the music, it was to boring without, and I've never used music in a video before...) WIP: Last rebuild: ========== The last rebuild is done. I've made a new iteration of the front end of the forklift. The mast is the same, but has been moved three studs closer to the front axle, and I have rebuilt the drive train for the fork lift and mast tilt to place them lower and further back in the chassis. I had to make a second rebuild of the fork lift drive train in order to gear it properly, and this lead to a rebuild of the drivers cab as well. I am pleased with the end result, but there is still some details that need to be added. I'll have to wait for a Bricklink order to complete these changes, but they are all minor and only cosmetic. The model is working properly, has the right gearing (after the second rebuild of the front) and is basically finished in the over all design. I have uploaded 5 preliminary images that will be replaced after the Bricklink order arrives and I can take some good shots with my SLR camera. When starting this model I had set myself a few challenges in addition to those of the competition. First of all it should be based of the PF equipment of set 42030 Wheeled loader. This meant using the big AA battery box, and made the truck a couple of studs wider than it would otherwise have been (And a little to wide for it's scale). I also wanted it to bee as realistic as possible, and in order to achieve this it should only use a single linear actuator to lift the forks (This actually gives me 31 stud lifting height from ground to to position), and use chain links rather then the more common cord solutions. I also wanted it to be as easy as possible to rebuild for others, so no uncommon parts are used in the basic chassis except from these: There are however a few uncommon parts used in order to achieve it's looks, and extra functions. I set out to make the model look a lot like a Linde forklift, but never used a exact model for it. It's Linde inspired, especially by the older 3 ton Linde forklifts (around 1995-97). It is however not based on any specific model. The pictures below where a great inspiration, but the finished model differs from any Linde model both in color scheme and in proportions. This was necessary to keep it to the compact scale I wanted and at the same time include the 42030 PF parts. In order to rebuild the forklift I am making a LDD file for it. This will differ from the built model in two ways; it will not have any "illegal" techniques, whereas the buildt model has tow - the narrowing of the end as well as the LPG cranes. It will also be missing the moving steering wheel as this is achieved through this uncommon part: Here are a few pics. Remember the final finish is still lacking, but the general model is done. In the second pic you can also see the lights that are controlled by a switch beside the cabin. I also have to make a video of it, and will make an update when it's done. PS: I would also like your opinion of the white LPG bottle versus the black topped I made earlier. I think the withe single colored one is more realistic, bit it might be better if I use a flat silver "ring"... Your opinions? All other comments are also welcome. WIP: ==== For the first time in a long, long time I've actually had some time to build. By girlfriend took both our kids with her to visit her sister for the weekend, and celebrate the 5 year birthday of her oldest daughter. I became sic with some kind of virus, and was asked to stay home from work, so I just spent a couple of days of uninterrupted building.Earlier this week I started to test a modification to the new type thread links, and I found a prototype of the mast of a forklift I built a couple of years ago. It was a test to see if a large Linear Actuator could be used to build a forklift mast, but it became so large and bulky that i gave it up. New parts that I have gotten over the last couple of years has made it possible to build it much more compact than i could before, so I started testing to see how good I could make one. I especially find this part usefull: On Thursday I finished a proof of concept, but I still felt it was a bit bulky, so after my girlfriend and the kids left I sat down to redesign it. The proof of concept was a single action mast like you can see in the video linked below, but I wanted more of a challenge, so I set out to build a two stories mast that was more compact than the proof of concept. And I succeeded. (this is the type I have based my construction on). I have tried to stay as close to a real one as possible, and its all based around a single LA and chains. Back when I went to school I used to work as a mechanic at a local fish landing facility with several factories in my holidays. There I did among other things service forklifts from Linde. They made an impression on me even though it's 18 years since I last worked on one, so when I had made the mast I decided to make a 3 ton Linde forklift for the Sbrick competition. Today I have spent 15 hours on building and have gotten amazingly far. Much further than I had hoped, and hopefully I will have the model finished before my girlfriend and the kids get back home. I'll post pictures tomorrow, a bit to tired now... But here is what I'm going for: I haven't used a specific model, but based the MOC on my own memory of Linde forklifts. I haven't scaled it either, but I think I'm quite close to how a Linde used to look 18 years ago (the second picture is a lot closer to that)... I have looked at some pictures, most importantly this (a nice old model from a different manufacturer), to find what tires to use, and a general scale of the forklift. You will see my progress tomorrow. I have uploaded a .lxf of the mast to myBrickshelf. WIP Pictures: =========== Some pics from the build process of the first iteration. I'm not pleased with the rear corners and placement of the Mast relative to the front axle. I would also like to shorten the design with 1 stud to make the panels come closer to the rear wheels. In order to get the mast closer to the front wheels i will have to make a complete redesign, and as I also have a slight problem with grinding gears I will do so. That means to start from scratch and redesign the whole front end... Any opinions and tips are welcome as I will be changing this a lot. The tests of the new two section mast is complete and I have installed it on a basic frame. There is still a lot that is necessary to modify. (Don't look at the mess. It's creativeness not mess...) I had a lot of challenges with designing the steering mechanism and finding out where to place everything, but as the frame came along it was easier to see where it could all fit. It was a huge problem finding out how to mount the servo as I'm not using a standard steering setup. Because there is some tolerance in the gears the servo will have problem keeping the wheels centered, so I also worked a return to center spring into the mix. The steering setup is able to take a "unlimited" load of downward pressure, only limited by the breaking strength of the beams. In these pictures you can see the black and red body colors supplementing the gray frame. The black part of the body will be and integrated part of the frame, just like on the real Linde forklifts, while the red is simply paneling that can be removed. It's shaping up nicely. I had to make some bodywork in order to see how much space I had for placement for the last PF parts. The standard PF battery box will be integrated as a counter weight, but very easy to remove. I will get back to this once I've done the necessary redesigns on the next iteration. I also found no way to include the standard Linde step (to enter the forklift) in the body paneling, so I deviated from the Linde design and made a step outside of the paneling (gray 6 long thin liftarm in the picture). I will add another thin liftarm to make it more realistic in size compared to forklifts from other manufacturers who use this solution... You can also see the rear corner that I'm not very pleased with. As you can see from the images this will look like a LPG based forklift, as these are the once I have the most experience with. It will however not include a fake engine if I don't get a very good idea. You may notice that the motors I've elected is the same as the new "42030 Volvo L350F Wheel Loader". This is on purpose as many who are new to PF can get everything they need in that set. Update - LPG Bottle: I just finished the LPG bottle. I spent 2-3 hours looking for the parts (I have ore than 30 boxes with thousands of parts in each,as well as 10-15 assortment racks, and the regular Lego parts are not much used...), and 10 minutes to decide on the design. Building it was actually quite hard, even though I knew what design i wanted, because i needed to bend a rigid hose into a circle. In the beginning i couldn't make it round, but then I got an idea. I put a old flex cable into the hose, and suddenly it bent nicely and kept closed much more easily. I like the end result, but I don't know what color to make it in... i will have to order parts anyway as I don't have anything matching colors right now. A few of the parts will be a problem though, like the air tank that only exists in blue and white. I would love to have it in gray... But anyway, i was thinking to either make the top Gray, Chrome or white. If all else fails, it will stay as is. Flex cable and rigid hose makes for a nice circle. The LPG Bottle itself: And a real one for comparison: Redesigning the back end: As stated before I will have to redesign the whole front end of the forklift, and that is quite a job as this is the part that took me the longest to make. I didn't really wanna do that yet, so I started work on redesigning the rear end, and have now reached a level of refinement where I concluded it's good enough. You may not know this, but the Linde forklift range are design in cooperation with the Porsche Engineering design studio (see this link for more info). This is part of what made me want to recreate a Linde when I decided to make a forklift. Recreating the organic lines of Porsche in Lego is both a challenge and a great opportunity to make something that isn't all square and boring. I managed to narrow the rear with two studs, and at the same time allowing it to cone in towards the back as can be seen on the pic below. This was the change that really made it all come together. After i narrowed the rear the center upper rear end was pulled in half a stud, and it gave me room to do what I wanted with the towing hitch and solved the sharp corner problem. (The reare "axle" is disconnected in this pic...) As I was redesigning the rear it was like the forklift designed it self, like it was telling me what needed to be done, and everything fell into place like in a puzzle. I have managed to keep all technical solutions and motors (m motor is to fit beside XL when i redesign the front) below the 5 stud level, both keeping the center of gravity low, and giving me room to work on the design on the upper part. You may also note the (for Lego) extreme steering angle of the rear wheels. They do also have correct Ackermann geometry, and was one of the really big challenges. I'll show more of this in a later update. The area where the towing hitch is placed was a square 5 x 7 hole in the first iteration, and is now a nicely flowing area with a functioning tow hitch. I managed to redesign the corners so they have a round flowing line, and not the sharp edges from the first iteration. When starting the redesign process I kept in mind that most car designs (also Porsche) has the front and/or rear making a face with the light as eyes. In the pic below you can see how the red lights make out the eyes, the beam in the middle becomes the nose, and the towing hitch makes for an angry mouth. I think I captured this very well... It strays a bit from the real Linde forklifts (even though lights are pretty common on forklifts for road use) and reaches for the Porsche concept drawings for Linde. In this setting I think that is quite ok. You can also notice that I finished the mounting for the LPG flask. That finishes off the back end. Only a few tweaks left to the steering and I can start redesigning the front. Steering mechanism: I've done some final tweaking on the steering assembly after I finished the back ends bodywork and saw how much space was available. This i the result I probably will use. As you can see of the second picture the steering angle is quite good for being Lego. The ackerman angle is actually to sharp, but this is done because there is some slack in wheels. By making the angle this big both wheels will flex into the right angle when the model is driven, the inner wheel flex a little bit out and the outer wheel in. My primary goal making this was a very good steering angle and "unlimited" load capability. It's capable of taking a load that squeezes the tires off the rims without flexing! It is also very easy to remove (for service etc), as only two pins are holding it from falling down. Functions it will have is (Planned): =========================== PF functions: - Drive by XL motor. [OK] - Steering by Servo, and nontraditional design on steering system. [OK] - Mast tilt by M motor. [OK] - Fork lift by L motor. [OK] Manual functions: - Interchangeable carriages for equipment (different carriages with different forks or other equipment). [OK] - One Carriage with Adjustable interchangeable forks and towing hook. [OK] - Rear towing hook. [OK] - Removable LPG bottle. [OK] - Opening "hood" panel in the rear to remove counter weight (battery box). [OK] - Opening seat compartment to access technical functions (switch and PF recievers/Sbrick). Just like a real forklift where this gives access to motor or batteries. - ??? I'm happy to get more ideas. Other functions: - I hope to be able to include a steering wheel that turns along with the servo. - Front light (hopefully through a switch). - Rear light [OK] - Work lights Updates will follow as I progress into the second iteration of the forklift and the fourth of the mast... I'll also see about making a video to show off the functions. -ED- Post will be updated with WIP pictures as well as a few videos when I have gotten a bit of sleep. 6. Technic SBrick Contest SBricks are shipping over the world as we speak. Say what?! You didn't join the Kickstarter project?! No worries! Here's your chance to win one or more SBricks For the few of you who don't know what an SBrick is, visit https://www.sbrick.com for more information. DESCRIPTION Build a Technic model with 4 Power Functions motors. The model should be prepared to replace the IR receivers with a single SBrick (or two if you like to maintain aesthetics). The models needs to have 4 powered motors, providing 4 functions. When using a gearbox, your model can have more than 4 functions (6 for example, like the 8043 Excavator). The model needs 2 PF IR Receivers which can be replaced by one or two SBricks. Using PF Lights is permitted. However, they don't count as functions. Functions are operated by a motor. DEADLINE Due to Holidays and possible issues with getting new parts from TLG this time of year I have given you two more weeks than usual. Deadline date is February 15th, 2015. Contest will be closed on Monday the 16th, so you will have the entire Sunday to build. CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS You need to utilize 4 output ports of the IR Receivers/SBrick (not counting LEDs) This means you need to use 4 motors Exception 1: you can multiplex multiple motors on a single output (for driving for example, when you need more torque) Exception 2: a constantly running compressor Pneumatics are allowed, but only when controlled via motors (no manual switching levers, it is an SBrick contest, not a pneumatic contest) LEDs are allowed, but don't count as a function Other manual functions like opening doors are allowed Gearboxes are allowed, as long as the previous rules are met 3rd party strings and/or hoses are permitted If you already own an SBrick, you can use it (as long as you can demonstrate the functions) GENERAL RULES AND RESTRICTIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Members who joined EB after the start of the contest can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected). Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Staff members are not eligible for winning prizes. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participant need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic. DISCUSSION TOPIC A discussion topic starting with [TC6]. ENTRY POST The entry post in the entry topic should contain: Entry name Short summary of the functions. 7. This is my secret project WIP for TC6. This is not a joke, construction is almost complete. I'm just waiting for some additional parts to arrive because I don't want to show incomplete work. You may ask "Why creating a topic then?" - So you could expect one more TC6 entry of course ! While I'm getting camera and parts I will update this thread with some info. Here's something to start: Technical specifications: 2 RC units 2 M-motors 1 L-motor 1 Servo-motor Manual gearbox. 7-9 functions. Some awesome lights. Maybe pew pew pew capabilities, dunno yet. To keep you interested I made a comics about the creation of this MOC. Enjoy.
  8. hi to all! this will be my entry for the TC6! I hope I success to build it as I want and I don't fail to build this MOC, it is a truck took from the videogame Motorstorm:pacific rift, I want to test my ability with my first scaled MOC and also, as I love to do, putting some strange and complex functions into a small creation :3 those are the four function that I've planned: -1 buggy motor for drive (4x4 with two differential) -1 M motor fot 2 speed gearbox -1 servo motor for fron wheel steering and.... -1 L/XL motor for boost function, with overcharge system (it is reallly difficult to build into that creation) the points where I'm focused are: -make a reliable chassis with 4 link suspension similar to the molotov baikal one (the "real" type of suspension is impossible to build due to the start from a videogame, it doesn't respect all the physics rules ahahah) - make a llimited-lifetime boost function (automatic slow recharge) like the game, with a brake function if it is overloaded (in motorstorm cars explode but I can't replicate that :'( ) -finish this moc D: i'm not an expert builder but I love if someone could restart this project after my try those are some pics of the molotov baikal, i have to built it in yellow and with gray wheels but i hope to make some stickers for the black and red painting photo took with the in-game photo mode this is my first try for the chassis, unfortunately I don't have 4 9m uniball link but it looks more similar to the molotov baikal system i've made some improvements and also tested the gearbox that works quite well, i'm only worried about the boost system and the truck cockpit suggestions, impressions and critics are welcome!
  9. Another wheel loader , a small beast, 2 motors on board and room enough... look out what narrower it is...
  10. Hey Everyone! Here is my entry so far. (WIP) Pics 2 posts down. I haven't been too well, and this weekend was the first time I built in 5 weeks so I am very behind with this project. https://www.flickr.c...th/16349961667/ Not sure if I will get it done, if someone could give me an hour countdown Euro time, that would be great! Cheers.
  11. Hi all, This is one of my first MOC's after a dark age. I'm really excited about the sbrick, and though it looks like serious competition, I thought I would still enter and complete my project as a personal goal. We have a 1966 Chevy C-10 Truck on air ride suspension. Loosely based on a real 'rat rod' truck. The model is 'bagged' on air ride pneumatic suspension. 4 motor functions: 1. L for Drive 2. M for Steering 3. M for Air Pump 4. M for Ride height via air switch. I worked really hard on trying to get fancy with a transmission, but they are either too big for the limited space I have or just aren't robust enough. In my pictures you can see that I tried various setups based on some notable Technic builder's models. Ultimately, they just didn't function as smoothly as I had hoped. I did have fun building them though. :-) With the frame on the ground, and it being a short cab, I didn't have room to implement the transmission with PTO to control the air pump (as originally planned) so I'm scrapping the transmission and just simplifying so I can make the deadline. First Transmission 4 speed, using a small LA to shift And here is the LA installed on top: The shifting was rough and the resulting transfer to the wheels was sketchy at best. I tried a two speed robust from Sariel and also one of Sheepo's 4 speed compact transmissions that uses rubber band tension. Sheepo's transmission is really clever. I tweaked it and had modest success but overall it was too complicated for my model. The real truck was supposed to be a '3 on the tree' so i might work that in after the competition. Here we have slfroden's linear gearbox. It uses a large LA and works very well. It's just huge. It can fit sideways in my model behind the cab, but the height is 4 studs too tall. Also getting it transferred to the drive train seemed overly complicated considering the placement. I think in a future moc, i'll start with the transmission and build the car around it. The LA is under the M motor. It's a WIP at the moment so keep that in mind. I do have a servo motor, but I JUST built lucio switch's awesome white 4WD truck. It used up my two XL motors also so I planned to use the L motor I have to drive this moc. It's probably not enough, but being as it is a 'cruiser' with air ride suspension, it certainly isn't built for performance. Stay tuned for more body work and a video. Thank you for any suggestions or comments.
  12. Hi there! Cant stop with building yotas. Here is my next one. Based on red FJ40 posted earlier, but chassis was modified. The most visible change is increased wheelbase. Beside that: another rear suspension with 4 links+ panhard, 2 speed gearbox. Wider axles installed now with bigger ground clearance under front axle. Roof is convertible as in FJ40. Place for aux motors is free and waiting. And now the most interesting part of process started: Brainstorming extra functions... And I've also made 1 step forward to construction machines: This MOC have yellow pieces.... lets see what I can do with that:) your comments can help me;) UPDATED AFTER FINISHING MOC BUILD: Here is Toyota FJ45 pickup with snow plow attachment. Truck is based on early FJ40 model. Difference is in wheelbase, rear axle and gearbox. Features: • All time 4x4 transmission • 2-speed manual gearbox (high/low ratio) • Live axles suspension with 2 link + panhard rod at each • Openable doors with locks, bonnet, bed door • Convertible roof • Detailed saloon • Customs stickers • FJ45 custome Sbrick control profile was designed at designer.sbrick.com • John Deere color scheme Motorized functions: • Propulsion: XL-motor • Steering: Servo-motor • Winch/Plow elevation: M-motor • Snow plow tilt left/right: M-motor Powered by LiPo battery block thru Smart Brick final release unit (sbrick.com) + Additional plow PF LED-lights Plow is elevated by winch. This scheme is popular in cheap and simple snow plows. Tilt in such model usually manually customized or use hydraulics. I used lever-push mechanism to tilt left/right. Plow can be dropped easily and you can use winch as regular. more pictures http://www.bricksafe...m8/FJ45snowplow Video EPISODE 1: Test drive

  14. Hi everyone, for this contest I realize a bridge layer's tank, inspired by the Titan tank. The funcion are: R track - XL motor L track - XL motor Stabilizating turret (up and down) - L motor with one big linear actuator Bridge layer arm - M motor with two big linear actuator The model is quite finished, just the last touch up and the last photo/video... Follow a preview, hope you like it!
  15. So I know that I have already made a model for the TC6 contest (my dragline which is awesome) I feel as if supercars are doing better in this contest. I will make this car and see which model will get more love, and i'll enter that one. So I am making the Radical RXC V8 which is a street legal supercar which has real LMP1 blood in it. here is the real one: So for the functions is has: -1 Servo for 4+reverse gearbox -1 Servo for steering -2 Xl motors or 4 L motors for propulsion -1 M motor or L motor(s) for raising front suspension The gearbox is already built and it works great. Pushrod suspension and double wishbone. Oh ya and its gonna be RED!!! So what do you guys think I should use 2 XLs or 4 Ls ? Pics coming soon  !!!!!!!!!
  16. Hello All This is the progress of my entry for TC6. I planned on making a 4wd supercar in late december, but I had no plans to enter TC6 due to the vast amount of high quality entries. But then I realized when I was building the Huracan that it complied with the rules and regulations for TC6 and thus decided to enter. I have read the rules and regulations for TC6 with extreme care, and in that the car has 4 motors, 4 motorized functions and 4 outputs of the IR receiver. So hear are the elements of the car I'm building. * 1 XL motor for drive (originally I always put at least 2 XL motors in any of my supercar mocs but the 4wd drivetrain in this moc was so productive and clever with the XL motor usage, that the gearbox manages to even triple the amount of torque of 1 Xl motor in first gear, and double the torque of 1 XL motor for second gear, uses the same equal amount of torque in third gear but in fourth gear it produces the same torque as an L motor.) * 1 Servo motor for steering * 1 M motor for the primary gear selector * 1 M motor for the secondary gear selector The car uses a Sariel gearbox which I discovered was brilliant for 4wd cars (the car can still perform as well with 1 L motor!), it was frankly the best 4 speed gearbox I could find, and the most versatile because I might use it in an offroader one day, the car results in having 2 gear selectors but Sariel pioneered it so well without using the the standard lego gear collar format found in all gearboxes made by lego themselves. The gearbox collars always had a certain power delay or lag and that wasted torque during launches and gear changes and also makes the motors work harder than they should, but Sariel used a dual linear sequential format which makes the car more responsive during gear changes and launches and made everything instant and this helps the motors put less stress on them which makes the power usage more effective. Eurobricks won't allow me to post more pictures so In future posts I will send more pictures. But here is a link to a collection of the WIP pictures of this moc https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/117883514691193486949/albums/6100970086868727953 The cars 10 cylinder arrangement will be flat instead of a V shape, because of limited space. I will be updating this topic as soon as significant progress is made, feel free to reply and suggest and methods for the body and interior, or any errors I have made. Once the car is complete, I will make a new final topic of the TC6 lamborghini huracan, were I will present a video and absolutely everything about the car. Thank you for viewing this topic LeocornoProductions

  18. Here is my Loader of Red for the contest. The only black/yellow parts are the tires, bucket, pins, and axle connectors. It has the following: 4-M motors (drive, steer, lift, dump) 2-recievers 1-AA batt box Steering is done with two small LA's, lift with two big LA's, dump with one big LA. I think It could use some work??? Oh and its RED. http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/Technic%202015/TC6
  19. This is my model for the SBrick contest: I thought about doing a teaser... Functions: 2x L motors for propulsion 1x Servo for steering axles 1 and 3 1x M motor for boom extension 1x M motor for winch Now, the good stuff: Early shot of the drive and steering, shortly after attaching the shocks. Since this shot, I have switched the shocks multiple times and have 1 hard on the front and rear, and 2 soft on the center. Front lights. Mess of wires already The odd looking construction at the back of the canopy is temporary. For some reason this picture makes it look like the frame is flexing, but it doesn't. The unfinished cabin. The steering wheel rotates faster than the wheels, so that it is more visible. The underside. Not much here. The L motors are connected by 12z gear to the 20z driving the diffs, one on axle 1 and one on axle 2. The red pins at the rear pull out to access the bb. The brickshelf folder is http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=552366. edit: Changed front picture and updated some text.
  20. Hi All, younger and elder, hi AFOLs J This would be my creation to the TC6 contest. I am a dedicated fan of LEGO creations. Just came back to the topic around 3-4 years ago after a long-long dark age and of course as many of ours this happened because of the 8043. See and fall in love was only a second, gave no chance for my girlfriend even to blink and the box was opened on my desk, the “new” style of bags – well that was new for me, last time when I saw a bag came out a LEGO box was with those little holes on it and with a bit different feelings when you touch it J - and there were so many small pieces … I think everybody here know what I felt. After those 3-4 unbelievable years there was some significant changes in my life (actually in my and my love – this time she is a person) and I have to had a “2nd dark age” to approach to the current level. This means just a couple of months but was hard without any LEGO, and the worst was when I had to sold my whole collection, including mostly Technic sets … but it was on the last summer, it’s gone now and I already can say: “I am back to game fellows!” J … Maybe I went so far away the original topic but I thought would be great introduce myself a bit since this is my first time on the EuroBricks even I was registered more than a year ago. Hope you will like my MOC, enjoy this short (or maybe long) article about and please feel free to comment, share your opinion, ideas with me and the others. So, let’s turn to the relevant page: My creation is a “compact crane”. Yeah, I know! A crane again … I am a bit addicted of cranes. Small and huge, mobile or tower ? Doesn't matter for me just simple impressive and unbelievable structures … but this time I would like to share with you a bit different type of crane: Spider/Mini/Compact Crane pick which you prefer or like. J This MOC mostly based on the UNIC URW-706 Spider Crane and it was built in 1:10 scale approximately. The experience I have had last October when I made some lifting plan and had to find and choose the right machinery for a task inside of a shopping mall in a single minute wake up a desire inside of me: “oh God, I have to find a way to build a MOC like this!” … and when this contest shown up … What a coincidence!? Let see, there is 2 type of tracks. Preferred to use the 5 studs wide for this. This means for the scaling the 400 mm wide track is equal with the 5 studs. At first I have made some LDD prototype. Tried how to fit and get the right shape and keep the planned scale. Was a great help using Sariel’s scaling app at his webpage, made quicker and easier the planning method and I didn't have to calculate every single dimension. To fit the contest’s rules I have developed many way of the control. The final result is below. There is actually 5 pieces of motors (hopefully based on the descriptionn I did not break any of the rules) 1 XL Motor This is a continuously running motor, connected to the fake engine and a tricky mechanism you maybe recognised earlier in some other creation: just simple with one axis you can give 2 direction rotation for another (in this case another 2) axis if you insert a shift gear mechanism on it 2 Servo Motor Those motors responsible for actually to turn “on-off” a chosen function and depends on their gives the right direction rotation. Operate with one (1st) IR Receiver (or use 2 slot on one SBrick) 2 Medium Motor This 2 connected to another 2 shift gear junction and can change the direction of the rotated axis independently, should bear in mind that if one of these turned into the shift gear the other must be at “Neutral” position. Operate with one (2nd) IR Receiver (or use the rest 2 slot on the same SBrick as the Servo Motors) Let see what we got with this combination. Well as the rules mentioned this is an alternate option to use a continuously running motor with the direct turn “on/off” connection battery box/rechargeable battery. Basically this XL motor gives the drive all of the RC functions. This engine rotate the axis connected 2 of the shifting mechanism. This 2 operated independently with those 2 servo motor and depends on the position we have got a clockwise/anti-clockwise direction rotating drive on No1 and/or No2 driving axis. This 2 driving axis going through on 2 independent double shifting gear junction, each operated with the M motors independently. And as a result we would have 8 different functions and 2 of these can operate in the same time. Right now I did develop only 7 from it but you will see – hopefully – we won’t need more in this case. So, the functions are below in pair: 1st M Motor, Function 1: Drive & Steer (due it is a tracked creation depends on which track operate which direction we can drive straight, turn left, right and reverse too) 1st M Motor, Function 2: Outriggers operate (when you see, this type of crane has a “turning out” arm and after it is at the right angle-position can pull it down to stabilize itself) 2nd M Motor, Function 1: Operate the crane 1 (in that case able to turn the bogie even on the 360 degree and lower/rise the boom). 2nd M Motor, Function 2: Operate the crane 2 (in that case able to lower/rise the boom and operate the winch with our without* to extend/abridge the boom). That is why a great goal from the LTD Team design and product was those red/new type of 16 tooth Gear with the double impact design. With this gear I was able to make the 2 double shift behind each other, no needed to sacrifice one of the shift gears for nothing, or actually a duplicated gear with. As you can see the functions by the 2nd M Motor is just 3 from the possible 4, but based on my best knowledge I cannot make more than 2 axis driven through the bogie and even if I needed more than 2 functions at the superstructure I didn't want to have a different motor at there, because of the limitation and I wanted to purchase a 360 degree turning without any wire in the middle. But I have made a manual switcher at the superstructure and in this way there is Option A the winch operate only itself, Option B the winch operate with the boom extension I preferred to choose the winch as a primer function while parallel with the boom extension will need to make the string longer/shorter any way … hopefully it does make sense. The outriggers extension can provide by manually, but in this scenario I couldn't solve an RC function on it. ... hopefully I will find the way soon how to attach pictures about the creation, till then here are two direct link to my onedrive cloud folder with the LDD screenshots and a few picture about the real creation current stage to be continuous soon :)
  21. Hi guys I am working on a massive walking dragline. If you don't know what a dragline is, they are usually used for coal, oil, and tar mining above the surface. Mine will have a gearbox for switching functions which will use an L motor, an XL motor for lifting the main boom and for rotating the structure. It will have an L motor for the drag rope and for one of the feet, finally another L motor for the hoist rope and for the other foot. I have already completed the main boom. I cannot upload any pictures of it yet because I am on vacation skiing without my LEGO, you will all need to wait until Sunday or Saturday. :( If you don't know what a dragline is, well look it up!!
  22. I've been wanting to make this since I got back into Lego roughly two years ago, and had just started playing around with a road wheel setup for it when [TC6] was announced! Firstly here are a couple pictures of the real vehicle in Norwegian service If you google CV9030 you'll find tons more Obviously building this in studless Technic is out of the question, so I am currently in the process of building my first studded MOC in around 20 years! It is also an all time first building a military tracked vehicle, as well as something studded based on a real vehicle, as well as building PF into a studded model. I want to make it fairly small, so small track links it is (I hope to one day make a properly detailed model of the same vehicle in larger scale using the new style tracks). Anyway, seeing as 99% of my studded brick collection has been sat in the same place collecting dust for the past 15-20 years, I'm rather handicapped both in parts selection as well as colour: As you can see, it's not ideal by any standards. Building studded is so different from studless, it feels almost like two completely different toys! I'm going to have to redesign the transmission, and possibly relocate the motors. The space inside between the suspension "rubber band arms" is only 4 studs. Although the real CV90 uses torsion bar suspension, using that at this small scale would be way too stiff, and thus not make any sense. I will much rather have functional, soft suspension, as you can see in the above picture. So, that's it for now, still quite a way to go as you can see I will do a lot of tinkering in LDD with regards to the turret design, and hopefully the final physical model will be either LBG or white (like the ones in UN service).
  23. So, not long ago on one of drjb's philosophical topics I had the idea for a Lego cat. I'm fairly certain I don't have the talent to build such a thing, but I thought it would be fun to try. My thinking is that it would need the following features: - lie around a lot - sit - walk - demand attention I've had a good look at my cat and I'm pretty sure that he's probably more power functions than mind storms. I'm not sure how many motors I will need. I'm thinking possibly one for each leg or possibly one for each pair and another each for tail and head. Linear actuators seems the obvious solution, but perhaps rubber bands on a cam might work better. I won't get any building done till after Christmas, but thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
  24. I had unfinished the MOC and this is the perfect excuse to finish and make it better. Let me know Jim if there is something wrong, there is an old topic about it but I never finished it.
