I showed this MOC the past weekend in the Lego Fan Weekend in Skaerbaek. After many cars and other land vehicles, now its time to build something different. This creation is based in the Russian helicopter Kamov KA-32. This helicopter has the peculiarity that it has two coaxial rotors turning in opposite directions, instead of the traditional main rotor with a small tail rotor. A real Kamov KA-32 used in Spain for firefighting. I have used the same color scheme. This MOC has been build in scale 1:16. The rotors has a diameter of 127 studs(102 cm or 40 in.) The fuselage size is 98x15x23 studs (78x12x18 cm or 30.7x4.7x7.1 in.) Both rotors are powered by only one PF XL motor and a PF Rechargeable battery. Complete rotors control using two swashplates directly from the cabin. Just like the real KA-32. Collective lever control: fly up-down Cyclic stick control(both sticks works): fly front-back-right-left(not turn) Upper rotor pitch pedals: turn right-left The controls only control de lower swashplate, and this one control the upper swashplate using the there grey links . The front wheels have free steering. And the rear ones have suspension, and a side sliding door. Very quick fuselage disassemble. I know that all this technical features and strange functions are difficult to understand. So here you have a video showing the helicopter working. [MOC] UH-46D Sea Knight

UH-46D Sea Knight US Navy (2) by [Maks], on Flickr Good morning. After 3,5 year hiatus I would like to present my newest creation. It's good ol' Boeing Vetrol helicopter, "the smaller Chinook", CH-46 Sea Knight. Here in UH (utility version) as used by US Navy in 60s and 70s. Here you can see the exact color scheme I tried to mimic: This model was almost entirely bulit during spring of 2017. But then DA came and I was unable to find time and motivation to buy some needed parts and finish it. But here it is, the big moment for this heli! [MOD] 42020 - twin rotor helicopter

Good day! Today I would like to present my mod of the 42020 twin rotor helicopter. I changed the color scheme and added pneumatics for opening the cargo bay. When I started this project, I plan to recreate an obscure diaclone triple changer* that was abandoned last minute by Hasbro as a official character in their G1 Transformers cartoon series back in the 80s. I used yellow parts to prototype it because it's been a while since I build something using this color. *try google "diaclone triple changer" to see which toy I am referring to =) After a while, I came to a realisation that difficult compromises must be made to ensure both vehicle modes (jet plane and helicopter) looks good. But the good thing is, my prototyping yielded something else.... instead of a jet, it looks potentially viable as a decent speedboat. So , there! TRIVIA: - I actually contemplating changing the color scheme to blue or white when this project almost reaches 90% completion, but changed my mind coz I had been building alot of blue LEGO creations lately (and I'm reserving white parts for another upcoming triple changer project) - One of the most trivial thing I spent many,many hours on was making a weapon for this guy that can be integrated in both the vehicle modes. - The retractable tyres on the back of the helicopter are quite weak. If I don't position them at the right angle (85 - 95 degrees), they fall down flat ,unable to hold the weight of the helicopter. - 5 mini balljoints (introduced in LEGO LEGO Mixels) were used in this built... including one applied to the robot neck making it more articulated that ever. - I initially used a pair of dark gray rudders for the speedboat mode, but I snapped broken the c-clip of one of the part and I don't have a replacement part. Ended up using black rudders instead. :| ^ the rifle is meant for the robot mode, now integrated into the vehicle as a non-weapon component ^ The cockpit can fit one minifig snugly. TRANSFORMATION HIGHLITES (to speedboat) ^ tailfin split into half to become pontoons. ^ the dark gray stud on the side of the tailfin are connected to secure the poontoons formation. TRANSFORMATION HIGHLITES (to robot) ^ As the nosecone unfolded, you can see how the minifig pilot is connected , via his feet to the light gray bracket part. ^ The yellow c-clip helps to secure the folded-up tailfin halves with a gap/hole to accomodate such c-clip. Without such mechanism.. they will be left dangling and disrupt the poseability of the legs. ^ Pilot ended up at the back of the robot mode after transformation complete, but his presence there prevents the waist from being rotated. ^ Thanks to the mini balljoints implemented on the shoulder, this guy can perform some serious kung fu stance. :) ... and not to mention, ability to hold the weapons with both hands. [MINI] Tilt Rotor Aircraft

I wasn't happy with the way my MINI airplane was turning out, so I decided to start over. I wanted to build something which was a bit more unusual. While searching for something to build, I came across the Bell XV-15, an experimental tilt rotor aircraft, which combines the advantages of a winged aircraft with those of a helicopter. More info about the real thing can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XV-15 This is the progress so far: - Tilting rotors, controlled by turning knob (not yet visible on the photo's below) - Automatic retracting landing gear, linked to the tilting mechanism - Free spining rotors - Opening rear hatch, manually operated - Part count: 181, but need some part for the control mechanism once I found a suitable spot. - Bonus: very swoosable I'm not satisfied with the cockpit section yet and as said, the controls are not completed at this point. What do you think?
